cofftea? (GIVEAWAY!)

April 26, 2011

I think you all know that I love coffee.

(source)

The smell of coffee seriously comforts me deep down into the depths of my soul. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I enjoy the routine of a cup in the morning while eating my breakfast.

I actually remember when drinking coffee became a necessity to my morning routine. I do know, however, it had everything to do with getting a big girl teaching job. I’m pretty sure most teachers are addicted to caffeine. You understand if you’re a teacher.

I think you all know those days of drinking coffee are long behind me.

Well, except for today when I had to drive extremely fast to get to work because ijustcouldntlivewithoutacupofcoffee any longer. That – and it was Tuesday. I don’t know if you’re aware, but Tuesdays are basically the bane of my existence. Tuesdays carry the aura of being the day when the end of the week just seems so long away. I actually enjoy Mondays, Wednesday afternoons are fantastic because the end of the week is in sight, and well – Thursdays and Fridays are just smooth sailing. Need I say more? Can I get an amen and another AMEN? Did I forget to mention the fact that it has not stopped raining in Chicago for the last three weeks? It’s not even warm rain. It’s cold rain.

So, yes – I needed a cup of coffee. From Starbuck’s. Totally worth my $3.39 – and I’m cheap so that’s saying a lot.

As much as I’m enjoying not having to rely on a cup of coffee to wake me up in the morning, there have been some very sad characters in this household as a result. This guy has been scratched his head for months wondering when we were going to get some bonding time again.

April 26, 2011 013
He even gave me the cold shoulder some days when I tried to use him for any other beverage.

April 26, 2011 014
::sigh:: Even the monkey knew something wasn’t right around here.

Due to stomach issues, I just can’t do coffee every day anymore. I would much rather live with the pain, but it makes me so irritable that even Charlie runs and hides when he sees me.

A few weeks ago, I got an email from Ashley at Teeccino Herbal Teas. One of you (yes YOU!) emailed the folks at Teeccino to let them know about my stomach problems and coffee. First of all, the fact that my readers cared enough to email this company means more to me than you know. I pretty much danced around the house like I was on Cloud Nine for the rest of the day because I felt so loved.

Teeccino is an herbal tea that tastes like coffee. I was sent a variety of flavors to try, including loose tea that brews like coffee and tea bags that steep in hot water. Did I mention it’s caffeine free as well?

The loose tea comes in the following flavors:

April 26, 2011 003
and the tea bags come in these flavors (plus vanilla nut but I already used it before the picture was taken!)

April 26, 2011 006

I wish I could choose a favorite, but I really can’t. Yes, it tastes like my beloved beverage of choice too. I like my coffee really strong, so the dark roast sat best with me.

Teeccino is being very generous and is letting FIFTY (yes 5-0!!!) of you try the herbal tea of your choice. Picking winners is going to be quite tedious, but I really want you to try this stuff. I can’t believe it’s not butter coffee!

To be qualified to win some of this tea, you can enter by leaving a comment on which tea you would like to try (mandatory).

For extra entries, you can:

1. Follow me on Twitter
2. Tweet about this giveaway (@cleaneatingchel is giving away @teeccino herbal tea! She swears it tastes just like coffee! http://wp.me/p11BDk-1rv)
3. Like me on Facebook

This giveaway is open to US and Canadian readers only (sorry Brits) and will run until Friday, April 30 @ 11:59 PM. Winners (all FIFTY of you) will be announced (in a very long post) on Saturday morning.

def french roast or chocolate… both of them sound awesome! :) I love coffee, I just tend to go overboard when I drink it so I haven’t been recently. It also kind of gives me a headache (I think it’s a dehydration problem…)

but i drink it occasionally anyways, still would be fascinated to try this! :)

oh, and i hate tuesdays too, but it’s mostly because I have a 4 hour chem lab…

I have tried so hard in the past to kick the caffeine habit (i only drink coffee for caffeine), but it’s SO hard for me since I get up at either 5 or 6 every morning. by mid afternoon, i crash. It might also just be the fact that i LOVE the smell and morning cup of coffee everyday with breakfast. these would help so much in order to trick my brain into thinking it’s having a regular cup of coffee.
the caramel nut sounds delicious. yum.

My grandparents gave up caffeine years ago, and they always have Teeccino in their home. They are roasted from herbs, grains, nuts, and fruits. The flavor is eerily similar to coffee. This will be the PERFECT coffee alternative for you! If you haven’t read it already, here’s the health benefits page from their website: http://teeccino.com/about/36/Teeccino-Health-Benefits.html Oh, and if I happen to win, I would like to try that Organic Chocolate Dark Roast. :]

Reply

Jacquelyn April 27, 2011 at 7:32 am

Yes I 100% agree with you. Tuesdays are my least favorite day of the week. Ive got a 3 hr lecture that day that completely drags on. And I love chocolate, so I think I would have to pick the chocolate tea first.

Dark Roast would suit me best. I like my coffee so dark and strong –light is not penetrable. (I’m so bad I know!) But I’ve been curious about this company for a while! Need to knwo where to purchase. I’ve been trying to cut down my caffeine/acid intake. This would be perfect–Keep the flavor!

Hazelnut coffee is my favorite! My husband and I just started talking about having kids and my inner coffee addict is a little freaked at the thought of being forced into switching to decaf. This tea looks seriously amazing!

I found a canister of Vanilla Nut buried in the back of my pantry a few months back. I had bought it on clearance a few years ago, opened it, tried it, and did not like it one bit. That was when I required coffee to function in the mornings, and when I hated the taste of anything-but-herbal teas.

However, when I found it recently, I gave it a go (in my French press, which probably also helped — adds smoothness), and I rather enjoyed it. Yes, even after sitting in my cabinet for probably 2 years!

The Vanilla Nut was good, but I’d love to try the Dark Roast.

Sounds like this could be my thing! I like the taste of coffee, but prefer tea for the health benefits! Hazelnut is my favorite :)
