I had a senior moment last night — or a blonde moment. You can take your pick on which one you think it might have been. I definitely thought that during my busy day I had scheduled a post for you all for last night. Guess that wasn’t the case. Whoopsies.
Part of the reason why I blog is for myself. I like looking back at what I was doing a month, six months, or even a year ago to see how I have grown as a person.
Unfortunately, I’m still 5’8”, but that’s the only thing that has remained the same in my life.
It’s been a year of changes, and I am so grateful I have decided to take the time to document it for myself. However, another reason why I blog is for you (my readers!). Hearing your stories, reading your comments, and laughing at your reactions to my ridiculous stories absolutely makes my day all the time.
So when I was awarded The Daisy Award by Katelyn, I was more than happy to accept!
Thanks Katelyn!
Award Description:
“This award is given to fabulous vegan bloggers who make their readers smile with personal stories, delicious recipes, and fabulous tips. You appreciate the beauty in life while in the moment, and that’s an important part of living! Compassion comes from the inside out; as a vegan blogger, your compassion shines through your heart and is apparent in the words and memories you share everyday with your readers. You change the world, and for that, you’re truly a daisy: something that captivates and brightens people’s day. Congratulations!”
I am not always vegan, but I love the concept of this!
There are a few things I have to do to accept the award:
1. Post the image on your site, with a link back to Passing Daisies (http://www.passingdaisies.net)
2. Answer the following questions on your blog
3. Provide links to five other blogs that make you smile (also on your blog, of course)!
1. How long have you been vegan and why did you choose to change to this lifestyle?
I’m not 100% vegan, first of all. I have been vegetarian for a little over a year. I ended up reading a few books — Eating Animals and In Defense of Food. Reading those two books changed my total outlook on the food industry, and I have felt so much better about myself and my choice not to eat certain foods after reading those two books.
2. What is your favorite vegan junk food?
This is a tough one because I just ate my favorite vegan junk food not too long ago, and it is now hundreds of miles away from me. The mint chocolate sundae from Pure Food and Wine (HONESTLY) takes the cake. You have no idea — or maybe you do. And if you do, you know I’m not joking about this.
3. Where is the absolute best place you’ve ever traveled and why?
Europe — my parents took my brother and I on an amazing trip a few summers ago which I have talked about before. I loved seeing London, Paris, and Rome in person. In fact, it had always been my dream to see the Eiffel Tower in person at some point in my life. When it actually happened, I looked at my mom and said, “Thank you for making my dream come true” and I honestly meant it.
4. What is your guilty pleasure?
Reality TV. It’s horrible, but I love Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, The Bachelor, and 19 Kids and Counting (the Duggars are fascinating — admit it!).There might also be a little “Secret Life of an American Teenager” action somewhere on the list as well.
5. What are you most passionate about?
This is really hard. I can’t choose just one. I am passionate about children, living a healthy lifestyle (nutrition and exercise), and spending time with people that I love.
6. What’s your favorite (or one of your favorite) memories?
My wedding day. It was absolutely an “out of body” experience for me. I love going back and watching the video.
7. Any words to live by?
I love quotes — I find them so inspiring and motivating. One of my favorites right now:
“The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.” - Theodore Roosevelt
Blogs that make me smile roll around on the floor laughing so hard I might pee:
- Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun: We always joke around that we are soul mates and were destined to be friends. She is motivating and always makes me laugh with her great stories, like the time when she dropped her key on her run.
- Jessica @ How Sweet It Is — How could you not smile at these? Or these? Or how about this? We have a special bond because both our husbands like to wear sleeveless shirts. Jessica’s stories make me laugh every day, and her recipes make me drool — vegetarian or not!
- Mama Pea @ Peas and Thank You — If you seriously don’t know this lady, you must be living under a rock or something. She is utterly hilarious, makes vegan look delicious, and posts videos of her daughter singing about pickles. How could one not love that?
- Janae @ Hungry Runner Girl — Janae has this spark for life that is absolutely contagious. Her sarcasm and zeal for everything that happens, as well as her love for candy keep me coming back every day!
- Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries — I have always loved Colleen, but it wasn’t until her Truthful Thursday video blog that I realized just how hilarious she is. Her ability to be 100% honest and (totally) frank about situations makes me want to hug her every day. Not to mention that the way she presents situations is so funny.
Question: What are some blogs that make you laugh until you cry?
