fun facts friday

August 19, 2011

  1. I got a new phone today. A HTC EVO 3D phone to be exact. Can I first of all say good riddance to my ancient Palm Centro phone and say hello to Angry Birds, Words with Friends, and TweetDeck all at my fingertips 24/7? This is going to be a problem — guaranteed. Any Apps I must have?

  2. I am so glad school was only 1.5 days this week. The end of the day came today, and I was pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to make it any longer this week. My class is amazing, and they are basically 5th grade super stars already. I’m either an amazing teacher, or these kids are just awesome. I’m going to go with the latter — I feel like I’ve known them for months. However, we were all feeling a little zonked at the end of the day today.
  3. I forgot during the summer how good Friday feels when the weekend comes. I am pretty sure the first words out of my mouth this morning were “TGIF!” — good thing Charlie listens to me pretty well from under the bed or else I’d be talking to myself because the Husband doesn’t wake up for anything.

    July 28, 2011 002

  4. Speaking of Charlie being under the bed, I don’t know what his deal is. He has been sneaking under our bed for the last month or so now — and by sneaking, I mean he makes a boatload of noise because it’s a tight squeeze for him. I’m not sure what is attractive about such a small space, but I guess he enjoys it.. that is until I have to pull him out in the morning. What a weirdo.
  5. It is August 19th and I only have $50 of grocery money left for this month. It’s going to be a long 12 days.
  6. I’m booking my flight to San Francisco this weekend for the Foodbuzz Festival. (PS — I just spelled “Francisco” wrong. Whoops.) Um yes, I am pumped. Who’s with me?

  7. Only really cool people stay at home on a Friday night and crave food to eat like a salad with hummus, right? Right.
  8. I won a BIC Band giveaway from Heather today, and I hope it goes with all of my clothes because I’m going to wear it 24/7.

  9. I’ve decided not to be depressed about not being able to go to Healthy Living Summit in Philadelphia this weekend. The negatives of not being able to go do not outweigh the positives of seeing and meeting my students this week.
  10. I need to make more granola — or you need to send me some. Stat.

A gluten free trail mix version would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have a “non 3D” evo! I love it :)

Heather @ Get Healthy with Heather August 19, 2011 at 6:11 pm

I got an iPhone about a month ago (my first non crappy phone!) and have been obsessed with apps. My current obsession… Color splash. Get it :) .

You should send me some granola if you make it… Or we can do a granola swap.. I’ve got a spent grain granola giveaway going on right now too. Granola rocks.

Cait @ Beyond Bananas August 19, 2011 at 6:24 pm

I totally feel you on the HLS.. I would have love to have gone but it is too busy a time to have been away this weekend. I am so sad that I will not be at the summit – but my teaching job comes first :)

Enjoy your new phone. I suggest getting Pandora and listening to the 90′s station. It is fantastic.

debbie@accidentlydelish August 19, 2011 at 6:29 pm

I just got a new iPhone and those were the first two apps i downloaded. haha.

ohthatgrrl is my words with friends name if you need someone to play with ;)

Kristin @ eat healthy. be happy. live well. August 19, 2011 at 6:31 pm

I’m totally staying in tonight and going to bed earlier than I have all week!!! I’m with you on the HLS. I’m new the blogging world, so I didn’t know about it soon enough! I’ll definitely look into the Foodbuzz Festival though!

Kaitlyn@TheTieDyeFiles August 19, 2011 at 6:31 pm

Angry Birds and Words with Friends=my life while I’m supposed to be doing work at school. I’m ok with it.

Flights keep going down little by little for Foodbuzz. If I can snag a cheap one and a few roomies I’m so in!

Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles August 19, 2011 at 6:36 pm

Everyone looks like they are having so much fun at HLS, who needs a cute cocktail party?!!? —-Let’s stay home, eat our salads and watch Full House or something?! If we’re both doing it, it’s just a good as their silly cocktail party!!!! (hehehehe!)
The joy of meeting new students, I’m PUMPED that they are superstars! :) YAY! I’m meeting my new class in a few days, shaking in my boots AKA-teaching flats! HA!

Amanda @ .running with spoons. August 19, 2011 at 6:39 pm

I’m trying not to be too depressed about HLS too. I thought about going, but I still feel kind of too new in the blog world and I was scared of feeling kind of like an outsider. And then I decided to buy a new place and all vacation money had to go towards that. And I can’t say that I’m TOO disappointed ;)

cleaneatingchelsey August 19, 2011 at 6:41 pm

Well, I sure am. I’m putting on a good front. :(

Emma (Sweet Tooth Runner) August 19, 2011 at 6:41 pm

I’m sad about HLS too!! NEXT YEAR fo sho’!!

Oh, and I want your phone!! And Charlie too!! My dog totally does the EXACT same thing haha!! :D

Missy August 19, 2011 at 6:47 pm

Could it be C-dawg is reacting to your first week back at school?
He may have gotten used to his Mommy being around all day.

Abby @ Abz 'n' Oats August 19, 2011 at 6:51 pm

I hear ya on the grocery fund. lol. It is going to be a lot of banana pancakes, pb&j, and cereal until pay day. Oof.

Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles August 19, 2011 at 6:53 pm

Your new phone looks awesome! I’m still working a 5+ year old Motorolla with a Cingular logo on it…so I definitely have yet to join the current phone generation, haha!

Also, granola is not safe around me, it’s too delicious!

Erica @ For the Sake of Cake August 19, 2011 at 7:16 pm

Angry Birds & Words with Friends are two of my favs!

Charlie is such a cutie! Dogs are so strange though, aren’t they?! Seriously, my pug does the weirdest things!

Lindsay @ Lindsay's List August 19, 2011 at 8:15 pm

I’m such a newbie to this whole scene, but majorly sad that I didn’t hear about HLS sooner. I’m looking into Foodbuzz though. How much are tickets?

cleaneatingchelsey August 19, 2011 at 8:46 pm

If you’re a Foodbuzz publisher, it’s only $30.

Lindsay @ Lindsay's List August 19, 2011 at 9:21 pm

So that’s my new goal…and where does one STAY? Is there a certain hotel?

cleaneatingchelsey August 20, 2011 at 6:54 am

There’s a whole website about the Festival:

Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin August 19, 2011 at 8:25 pm

I’m trying not to be, but I’m definitely bummed about not being at HLS. I think I’m going to Foodbuzz though, so I’ll see you there?! :D

cleaneatingchelsey August 19, 2011 at 8:48 pm

Lindsay@ In Sweetness and In Health August 19, 2011 at 8:31 pm

Yay for the new phone! I need to get words with friends on mine. And, this may be a stupid questions, but what is tweet deck? I hope you’re having an awesome Friday night! I’m sad about not going to HLS, but I haven’t been blogging nearly long enough to really deserve to be there..mainly I’m just bummed about not getting meet some amazing people :) .

cleaneatingchelsey August 19, 2011 at 8:49 pm

Download tweet deck! It’s seriously awesome – it’s a multi-columned Twitter app for your desk top!

Katie @ peacebeme August 19, 2011 at 8:37 pm

I STILL don’t even have a smart phone! I think I am the only one I know…

Great list. :)

Katie August 19, 2011 at 9:08 pm

Fridays mean something completely different in the summer. Unless you are in the throes of planning courses….i.e. working all week AND weekend. I’m kind of hoping that the school year means easier for me, but I really doubt that will happen. Sigh.

Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga August 19, 2011 at 9:22 pm

I’m posting about conferences and NOT going…tomorrow. A “dont feel bad if you’re not going and this is why” post. So stayed tuned for my glass is half full post :)

As for FBuzz. I doubt it. I didnt enjoy it enough to spend almost $2 grand on it. Between the airfare, hotel, spending money while I was there, and missed/days off work that werent paid, I can’t really justify it again. But I hope you have a blast!!!!

Enjoy your new phone!! I have a friend with an Evo and she adores it!

cleaneatingchelsey August 20, 2011 at 6:54 am

You paid $2k to go? Wow! I’m getting a flight for less than $300 and sharing a room with 3 girls, so that will only be $100!

Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga August 20, 2011 at 7:15 am

when you consider lost work/lost wages, flight, hotel, spending money, taxi, yes, it was close to that amount. the loss of work was the biggest but even hard costs, i.e. hotel and air, were significant. There are ways to do it cheaper, i.e. roommates so you’re being smart!

I love that you have $50 for groceries for 2 weeks for 2 people but you’re going to travel and bought a smartphone. Groceries…who needs em :)

cleaneatingchelsey August 20, 2011 at 10:20 am

You betcha. :) And the phone was a business expense – the joys of having a husband who owns a business. Annnnd I really could use more than $50 for groceries… I’d just not like to.

Cynthia (It All Changes) August 19, 2011 at 9:29 pm

You are missed but your students are doing awesome with you as their teacher and it shows you needed to be with them. :-)

Maria August 19, 2011 at 9:59 pm

my friend just showed me her 3-d phone yesterday :-) so cool! Words with Friends is a must download! Shazaam is a good music app, around me is a good travel app.

Maria @ Beautiful Busy Bee August 19, 2011 at 10:33 pm

Congrats on the new phone!!! You should get the game Catchphrase. It’s so fun, I played it with my cousins on my brother’s phone till way past midnight when we were on vacation. :) You’re so lucky to get to go to the FoodBuzz thing!!

Jenn's Adventures August 19, 2011 at 11:18 pm

I love fun fact friday’s!! =)

Lilly August 19, 2011 at 11:31 pm

Pandora is my favorite :) lovin’ your fun fact friday!

Allison (Allison's Delicious Life) August 20, 2011 at 12:11 am

It’s so cute to hear about your experience with your class and students! I got to work with kids this summer and I finally understand the bonding that goes on. I remember looking up to my teachers SO much as a kid, but I never realized how attached they could get to us kids, too!

Khushboo August 20, 2011 at 1:34 am

We can sulk together abt not being HLS! Must also make granola stat- to console myself :)

Lexi @ A Spoonful of Sunshine August 20, 2011 at 3:10 am

HLS looks awesome, but there’s always next year :)

Lauren @ What Lauren Likes August 20, 2011 at 6:53 am

I need some granola to! Except I am far to lazy right now and its wayy to hot to turn on my oven ;)

Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food August 20, 2011 at 1:03 pm

Yey for Fridays, a great class, Food buzz and, of course, Mr. Charlie. I feel you on HLS I had originally had a ticket but then decided it would be best not to go. I’m sure that there will be another great one next year!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and a great start to your first full week! :)

Megan@eatmybeets August 20, 2011 at 3:03 pm

I’ve never been to a food conference thingy but they look so fun! I’ll have to look into it. Kids are definitely tiring. I work at a summer camp for kids with behavioral problems, and I cannot wait for this summer to be over. haha

Sophie @ threetimesf August 20, 2011 at 4:05 pm

I love this post :) Not sure why exactly, it just made me smile! I stayed at home tonight (Saturday – is that worse?!) and ate ryvita and hummus – is that wierd?! Just making the most of my last week of holidays before term starts!

Anne August 20, 2011 at 9:08 pm

This will definitely make me nerd-worthy, but you have to get the SMURFS app! I was skeptical when my boyfriend first starting playing, but I ended up taking over and now i’m totally addicted… :)

cleaneatingchelsey August 21, 2011 at 7:14 am

I’ll look into it!

Christina August 22, 2011 at 11:29 am

I really want to go to the Foodbuzz festival! I’m trying to convince my other half that it’s in our budget, I’m coming up unsuccessful though.

You MUST get the Amazon App store app! They offer a normally paid app for free very day, for instance today they’re offering an app that’s normally $1.99 for free! Everyday is different and it’s totally amazing. I know there’s a way to text the app’s but I’d have to ask the hubs, he sends them to me all the time but I have no clue how lol.

Heather August 22, 2011 at 9:20 pm

TOTALLY missed you at HLS this weekend! I am so glad you won my giveaway, it is going out in the mail tomorrow! Sorry i couldn’t get it out to you before heading to philly. its so sparkly and cute, you will love it!

all three August 23, 2011 at 12:39 am

Why is it I all the time feel like you do?
