things i didn’t blog about

December 4, 2011

Aaand blogging got sent to the backburner this weekend — did you know that people keep on living even when they don’t blog about it? Crazy concept, right? Here’s some things I did, but I didn’t blog about this weekend.

Ate to my heart’s content: More specifically, Mexican food — Qdoba on Saturday, and Chipotle on Sunday. Nothing gets much better than that — except perhaps the cookies and fudge I sampled throughout the course of the day today. Oh, and apparently if you run 11 miles on Friday night, your post run hunger will kick in with a vengeance on Saturday — watch out and consider yourself warned.

October 2, 2011 127

Napped: On Saturday, at least. I couldn’t even fathom staying awake any longer when Saturday afternoon rolled around. Usually when I nap, I’ll cat nap on the couch and not really sleep very deep. Uh, I was under sheets and comfy cozy for at least an hour and a half. When my alarm clock started beeping for me to get up, I could not get myself awake. Hence the reason why I was zombie like for the rest of the day.

Read: I am obsessed with Diane Chamberlain. In the past few weeks, I have read The Midwife’s Confession, The Shadow Wife, and Her Mother’s Shadow. All superb — I am going to keep reading her books until I run out of them! Does anyone else do that with authors they discover?

Baked: I cannot wait to share with you the cookie recipe I came up with this weekend for the Blogger Holiday Cookie Swap — unfortunately, you can’t get that recipe for one more week. I’m so sorry.

Went into the city: On Saturday morning, I went to the city with my parents to visit my brother’s school. He is in a recording arts two year program to become a sound engineer. The school is pretty much amazing — I was seriously impressed. And how cool would it be to have your classroom be a recording studio?

Prepped food: I don’t know what got into me, but today I think I made enough food to last us the entire week. Roasted vegetables, chickpeas, soup, cooked grains — I think we’ll be well fed this week.

Bowled Really Bad: Okay, so that’s nothing new — but it was reeeaaallly bad last night. Really bad. Like, so bad I think I averaged 65 for three games. #superstar

Addressed Christmas Cards: And now my hand feels like it might fall off. But they’re done.

And now it’s Sunday night, and I am wondering how in the world the weekend flew by so fast. Two and a half more weeks until Winter Break — I’ll take it!

Question: What did you do this weekend?

Anita Shreve! I read 4 of her books one summer, all 4 of these particular books take place at the same New Hampshire beach house, but in different eras. The 4 books are only related by the house. It isn’t a silly series, but you can see the history of the house if you read all the books. Very Very highly recommended!
Fortune’s Rocks
The Pilots Wife
Sea Glass
Body Surfing (in this order ;-)

:-) if your ever short on reading!

Sounds like an amazing weekend to me! :) I worked, went out for Thai food, worked out a bit, and was a bum the rest of the time!

I had Chipotle Friday! Best stuff ever, it’s like my new fast food instead of subway (back in the days when i ate meat & gluten). I was sort of disappointed this time though because i kept on asking the man for more beans, vegetables and romaine but when i asked that, he put literally one piece of lettuce/vegetable on for “more”. Then he put a TON of brown rice and guacamole on.. not that i didn’t like that part, i wanted more vegetables to get my dollars worth! I have been there 4 more times in the past and it’s been fine until that guy.. :( I hope you enjoyed it!!

I would have wanted at least 3x more guac on any given day. I love their guacamole!!

so fun! i fell off the blogging wagon this weekend as well… i ate a lot, went out twice for my sister’s birthday (and will probably require 21 days to recover), shopped, went to the bears game, and just ordered pizza. a fabulous weekend!

I’m surprised no one has made a comment yet about when your alarm clock started beeping for you to “get off”. I’m NOT surprised that I’m the one to make it.

bahahah – I’m tempted to leave that up. And I’m not at all surprised that you were the one to point that out either.

That heap of guac is what dreams are made of. <3 I was craving some guac today, but the grocery store was out of cilantro! I was not impressed. :P

This weekend I volunteered, studied, went to a new grocery store with my friend, watched Christmas movies with my roommate, baked, and wrote Christmas cards!

I could eat guacamole every day and be happy!!

I just did the same exact thing with Diane Chamberlain! I also read the Midwife’s Confession and The Shadow Wife and loved them! I downloaded The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes but got caught up in Drowning Ruth ( not by Chamberlain) before diving into it. That’s another great book if you are ever looking for something. On a related note, having an ereader totally increases my propensity to read every book by a given author right in a row. When I finish one I enjoyed I just immediately download another. No waiting :)

I tried reading Drowning Ruth and I could not get into it!!

I definitely do that with authors (hello, Sophie Kinsella!) and get really sad when I run out of new books to read. Although, honestly, any time I find something new in my life, I obsess over it… until I find something new to obsess over.

I hear ya on the card addressing thing… I did mine last night and halfway through I just wanted to go “screw it! I’m going to see half these people in the next three weeks anyway!”

what did I do? schlepped down to the Equator, baked eggnog donuts, got my house set up down here, worked out, ate, was a mommy, went grocery shopping where I dont speak the language, cooked with a celsius oven, just a humdrum weekend :)

Glad you bowled and went to the city and napped and ate and all that good stuff!

Let’s see…A “so-so” blind date in NYC that probably won’t happen again, but at least I got to go to the MET and have a darn good bacon cheeseburger with fries; hot Vinyasa yoga; Christmas decorating my apartment; “The Farm” to pick up more herbs for my apartment; and now working on a post. Not sure where the weekend went…sheesh! Ending my weekend with my “guilty” reality TV shows.

i love naps. i used to nap so, so often in college (i say this as if i didn’t just graduate this past may)…but alas i have been thrown into the working world where naps just arent possible! why does it feel so much better to sleep during the day than at night? i think i was a cat in a previous life!

Gina @ Running to the Kitchen December 4, 2011 at 8:36 pm

I did that with Jodi Picoult a few summers ago and read all of her older books.
What did I do this weekend? Ran a craptastic half marathon today and painted a rental property all day on Saturday…glamorous.

I have a love/hate relationship with naps. Sometimes after I nap I feel so groggy for a couple hours but sometimes it is so nice to curl up for a nap!

I had a lovely family weekend – kids dance rehearsals for christmas shows, trip to the market for veges, coffee at my favorite cafe with husband and kids, and dinner out with my mum and dad for mums birthday. Birthday dinner however was slightly disrupted by an earthquake!!

I am desperately in need of a new author to try – will give peoples suggestons a try :)

Addressing cards/labels is such a pain in the butt! My weekend was super busy but at the same time really relaxed! Highlights include: 10 km run, trying a new fro yo place, pizza & wine with my cousin, spa day and a friend’s brother’s wedding reception!

Anna @ Food Fitness Frolicking December 5, 2011 at 5:23 am

That salad bowl looks DELICIOUS. And hooray for naps! It’s funny, sometimes I’m hesitant to make the nap ‘official’ and sometimes just lay on the couch instead of in my bed because I don’t want to sleep for longer than a half hour..but the funny thing is I never feel rested, ha. So, moral of the story..take the nap in your comfy cozy bed and enjoy every minute of it! :)

Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers December 5, 2011 at 8:11 am

I went to the ACC Championship game (woop woop) and also finished all my Christmas cards. A glass of wine and a lit fireplace made addressing the envelopes an enjoyable chore.

you are my heroine! i am still crafting and addressing christmas cards!!! i need to mail the international ones like last SATURDAY (whilst you were napping, so i don’t feel too bad about my down time, haha) . . . favourite author obsession? i’ve been OBSESSED with ayn rand since discovering her last october. i’ve already read atlas shrugged thrice . . . and everything else on her list at least once. yes, i have issues with addictions, including to authors! and welcome back to blog land!!! my google reader isn’t complete without an update from you . . . and last night (whilst drinking wine), i thought, “i really need to visit clean eating chelsey’s page to get a recipe and buy the ingredients for a fulfilling sunday night dinner!” seriously, that is excatly what i thought, so you can definitely feel good about your influence on my brain to actually DESIRE to check out your blog for a great sunday night recipe. alas, because of the wine, i was too impaired to drive and optioned to walk to the local chinese place for fetching of brown rice sushi. :) but you definitely influenced my brain, and i thank you for that! and this morning, when rising for my 4:45am yoga session, i thought, “clean eating chelsey is up. i need to be up. no complaints.” it takes a lot for me to like a person, but you’ve passed that exam with flying colours. thank you for your inspiration. and happy monday! :) xxx

I do that exact same thing with authors–Nicholas Sparks, Jodi Picoult, and Kristin Hannah are a few of my favorites. Their stories tend to be similar, but they’re all fantastic writers that suck me right into their books immediately.

Reply

Lauren @ HugsKissesNDishes December 5, 2011 at 11:11 am

I had chipotle last night too, before bowling as well! did you just go bowl for fun? I am on a league, nerdy I know… I had brown rice at the chipotle I went to, kind of cool how “fast food” is slowly evolving. Happy Monday!

I, too, ate Mexican out-twice! The weird thing is that I never order margarita’s out but I had one each night. It was a delicious and expensive weekend!

It was amazing and got me so hooked I went on Amazon and ordered the full trilogy box set and am now anxiously awaiting the arrival so I can start the second book! hoo boy! The trailer for the first movie just came out too and looks amazing…so if you want something to totally dive into go for that!

No, no, no, no, no….never write out your Christmas card addresses! You type them up on the computer, silly ;) Well, that’s what I do anyway. I bought some address labels a few years ago, so I typed all my addresses into Word, and now I just print off the labels every year :) So much easier on the wrist!
