fun facts friday

December 9, 2011

1. Sometimes I wish I were my dog. Seriously. He wakes up in the morning, has someone feed him, goes to the bathroom, and promptly goes back to sleep. He wakes up on and off to eat treats, chew on a bone, and go from his bed to the couch. Then he wakes up to eat, go to the bathroom, and goes back to bed. #dreamworld

2. Two years ago today, the Husband proposed to me. I don’t know if I ever told the story, but it’s a good one. It involves a snow storm, pink spray paint, and a crabby Chelsey (what else is new?) who had just braved the snow for two hours on a very very long ride home from work.

3. I wrapped 10 Christmas presents yesterday. I think I’ve hit my quota. Okay, not really because it barely made a dent.

4. I’ve got 11.5 miles tomorrow. Did you know my race is less than a month away? Yikes! Does anyone know what the weather will be like for a race in Orlando in January? I have absolutely NO clue. Obviously I don’t think I should show up in shorts and a tank top, but I am clueless.

5. I get to eat sushi in 3 days. That’s 3 more days I have left to dream about it.

6. It snowed last night! It snowed last night! All 1/8th of an inch. But still, it counts.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

7. If you read this before 6:30 PM, you got the shortened version. I accidentally did not finish this after I scheduled it this morning. Whoopsies!

8. I wore Santa socks today. If that doesn’t scream “I’m a teacher”, then I don’t know what does. I wore them with shoes so that you could see the socks. Kidding, I wore them with boots.

9. You need to go buy these chips. Seriously. They are salty. and delicious. and I just can’t stop eating them.

10. I’ve already made it through 2 weeks of work after Thanksgiving. Only 1.5 more to go! Yahoo! (Not that I don’t love it, but seriously, a break would be nice.)

11. I figured number 11 should be about how I’m running 11 miles tomorrow. Outside or inside… that is the question.

12. Today at my work’s holiday party, a girl that is new to my school this year guessed that I was 26. When I laughed and said no, she said 28. I don’t feel like I look that old people!!!

13. Happy Friday!

ps – you can tell that I wrote half of this this morning and half tonight because of #4 and #11. And apparently, I decrease the mileage I’m supposed to do by .5 miles every 12 hours. We’ll see how much actually gets run tomorrow.

I am a teacher as well, 8th and 10th grade. That upcoming holiday day break is what is keeping me alive right now. We all need time to refresh after this insanely hectic first semester. Hopefully, we can sneak in some 2 hour delays too. ;)

Totally wish I could be a dog sometimes too! Tell your engagement story! I’m intrigued!! :)

The Santa socks cracked me up. My mom teaches preschool and she wears the most ridiculous socks!

My dog also has a very cushy life. She wakes up, eats, goes to the park, sleeps, plays, eats some more…sounds good to me.

Hey Chelsey. I live in Orlando. Two days ago we were in the 80s. Yesterday morning it was 47. Today we were mid 70s. You never know what to expect! My advice…plan a warm and cool option. Check the weather right before you come! The weather changes all the time! Good luck!

I remember 2 years ago for the Disney Marathon, there was a freak snow storm. And when I mean storm, consider I’ve lived in Orlando all my life, so storm involved a few flakes. But, it was seriously cold and wet and miserable. So, plan for cold enough for a few flakes and plan for 70 degrees. The half marathon here last weekend had PERFECT weather. PS. Don’t forget entertaining music because the race course is mostly on the highway and not terribly interesting. :( (the fact I ran 13.1 miles with a tiara on my head made it entertaining for me. :) )

My students tend to mistake me for one of them. Hm…middle schoolers (I adore them though!) I would love to hear your engagement story haha!

The news yesterday said it’s official snow if we get 1/10th of an inch, so we’re good!

LOL No….you don’t look old. Although….you don’t look 24, either. But I think I only say that because I’m 23, yet I look 17. So…..my perspective is a little skewed. Seriously, people who meet me at work think I’m still in high school! So I totally feel ya on people not getting your age right!

I am turning 30 next week, and everyone thinks I am 23/24. I am a Kindergarten teacher and we had parent/teacher conferences this week. A few parents asked me how long Id been teaching (probably expecting 1 or 2 years) and when I tell them 7 they almost fall of their chairs! lol I love it :)

Orlando has been bipolar weather! I’m running the princess half in February and I have no idea what to expect either. I say just bring two sets of clothing so you are prepared no matter what. Good luck on your long run tomorrow !

Haha, you do not look 28. It must have been the santa socks. :)

I thought the exact same thing about the snow on the ground this morning and the making it through two weeks after Thanksgiving! I’m extremely jealous of your Santa socks, though!

I was in Florida last January and being from Wisconsin I brought all my “summer” clothes because I thought it’d be nice but I was so wrong. I ended up going shopping for long sleeves and pants because it was in the 30′s! Just keep an eye on the weather and be prepared! :)

i was intending to offer my comments on your desire to be your dog! that was until i read that you’re only 24! what?! you should be even MORE proud of this blog and of your fabulousness than before (and i’m assuming that you were proud before, but, like i said, up the proud notch just a tad because you deserve it). your maturity is WAY beyond that of a standard 24-year old. i salute you, CEC! my dog does, too! :) x

I’ll trade the snow that you have. I have 5 inches where I live!
You know you’re a teacher when you’re dressed in a Santa sweater, earrings, and socks! Gotta love this time of the year. LOL

Reply

Lauren December 10, 2011 at 11:32 am

I wore Halloween earrings while I was student teaching.
In the middle of the day, I remember making fun of my teachers in school for what they wore around the holidays.
Sigh, I’m such a grandma.

This might be TMI but I do have some nice festive holiday underwear…
Except for anyone to know I’m in “the spirit”, that might be a little awkward…

Good luck on your run!

You do not look 26 or 28! No one ever believes I’m 23 though, apparently I look like I’m 19. But I’m also 30 years old in my mind. Haha.

I ran the Disney 1/2 a few years ago and it was hot, sticky, and sweaty. But I also hear it can be chilly, so bring a mix of clothes!

Reply

Amber K December 10, 2011 at 12:55 pm

Gotta love Santa socks! That’s crazy that everyone thinks you’re so “old”! You do seem mature, but you look young! I’m constantly getting carded everywhere I go. I used to volunteer at a middle school and I was always getting mistaken for a student. Not that I want to look old, but I’m almost 30! C’mon now!

Leonor @FoodFaithFitness December 10, 2011 at 3:41 pm

I ran Disney last January. It was pretty cold, but then again I am from Florida and we wear gloves when it’s below 50. I think it was in the 40′s at the start and warmed up to 60ish. I would definitely bring a warm option.

Reply

Faith @ For the Health of It December 12, 2011 at 7:56 am

Our weather in January is actually kind of nice, but in the morning when you get ready for the race it’ll probably be pretty chilly. I’d suggest a long sleeve shirt + jacket of some sort with pants. Gloves might not be a bad idea either, even cheap ones to chuck when you warm up.
