fun facts friday

May 4, 2012

1. On Wednesday, one of my students told me I needed a coffee. I could have taken offense to that. Instead, I took it as an opportunity to tell him just exactly how I like my coffee… and that he is responsible for buying me a cup before the end of the school year for that comment.

2. The winner of the Alter Eco giveaway is #362, Lindsay C.! Congratulations! Please email me to claim your prize.

3. Is anyone else an avid Grey’s Anatomy watcher out there? I’ve been following it for years, but for some reason this season has NOT been doing it for me — at all. Until the last like three episodes. I’m hooked again.

4. 16 more wake ups until the end of the school year. Not that I’m counting down, but I’m just sayin’…

5. Speaking of which, that means I only have 16 more days to get in a BOATLOAD of material. AAAHHHH!

6. New snack obsession — half of an Udi’s gluten free plain bagel topped with almond butter, chia seeds, and banana.

7. It’s been scorching hot in these parts the past few days — like in the high 80’s. I am so thankful my classroom is air conditioned.

8. Doing laundry is like a never ending cycle of ridiculousness for me. I’m sure I’ve told you before, but it goes like this. 1) do a load of laundry 2)forget about the laundry for at least 12 hours. 3) Put laundry in the dryer. 4) Put a new load in. 5) Trip over other laundry piles on the floor for a few days. 6) Put clean laundry in basket. 7) Let clean laundry sit in basket for at least a week until it gets put away.

9. The new book in the Divergent series is out!!! I need to buy it pronto.

10. Happy Friday!

I watch Grey’s and I felt the same way! I literally hated every episode for a while until now! It’s getting back to what it used to be and I hope it stays that way.

cleaneatingchelsey May 7, 2012 at 6:09 am

I know – for a while there, I wouldn’t even watch the entire thing because it just wasn’t doing anything for me!

Christina May 4, 2012 at 6:13 am

Your laundry ridiculousness sounds much like mine.
1. Finally do laundry after running out of everything. 2. Forget about it for probably a whole day. 3. Load dryer. 4. Reload washer…promise myself to move to dryer sooner. 5. Take load from dryer to couch. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 6. Use couch as closet.
Did I mention I have a chair in the bedroom that also stays full of clean laundry? Oh yea, domestic goddess, right here y’all!

cleaneatingchelsey May 7, 2012 at 6:09 am

Oh my guest room bed stays full of clean laundry – no shame!

I haven’t even seen a single Grey’s episode this season, and now I feel like it’s too late.

I feel ya on the laundry situation…I finally gave in and folded clean laundry that’s been sitting in the hamper for a week. And I only did it because we needed the hamper to do more laundry. Whyyyyy is it never ending???!!!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey May 7, 2012 at 6:10 am

I don’t know – I’ve got four loads to be folded again and I’m not happy.

It’s been less than 10 degrees here (in Ireland) all week and apparently set to get colder, count yourself lucky, I’m so jealous! Hows the new fitness regime going and general life changes? Haven’t seen an update in a while! Also that bagel snack sounds like a plan for me today I have new pecan butter I’m in love with! Happy Friday :)

I haven’t watched Grey’s for years but I actually just watched last night’s episode. Funny you said that because I thought last night’s was pretty good. :)

Reply

ha! In the last month or so, I’ll start watching the episode, but then decide halfway through that I would rather go read my book. Not on THursday though!

I am so feeling you on greys anatomy! I have watched it for yrs and always loved it an was hoping that it got cancelled this yr since it has not been good but I can’t seem to stop watching lol…but yes it is getting a bit better last few eps. :)

Cait @ Beyond Bananas May 4, 2012 at 6:37 am

AGREE with you on the Grey’s thing! I’ve half watched all the episodes until recently too. I am wondering what will happen next week… and next season.. if some of the doctors decide to take jobs in other hospitals.

I also still miss the days with O’Malley and Izzy!

Your laundry cycle sounds a lot like mine – I forget about wet clothes in the dryer all the time! and I got my Love Grown coupon! Raisin Almond Crunch! thank you! :)

I have a little agreement with my boyfriend that he’ll do the laundry if I do the cleaning. Probably not a fair deal for me but I HATE washing clothes!

I’m so glad I have someone to tell me that the next Divergent book is out. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey May 7, 2012 at 6:13 am

That’s a fantastic agreement! I don’t think it would go down so well over here!

Ooooo, about the Grey’s Anatomy- heck to the yes. I think our love for it must have something to do with the fact that it was “THE” chick show to watch while we were in college- my roommate and I would make a date night out of it. Hot chocolate and Grey’s.
As for this season- NOT doing it for me either. But now I’m hooked again too! I’m liking that I want to watch it again to see what is going on but now the season is really wrapping up!

Reply

Madeline (Food Fitness and Family) May 4, 2012 at 7:04 am

Totally agree about Greys! Last night I literally yelled “Mr. Feeny” though haha. The whole Christina/Owen saga wasn’t doing it for me but I am hooked again too :)

Yay for it almost being super vacay for you!

Yes the Laundry conundrum is the worst!! I do the same thing… Clean laundry sits in folded piles (usually in the guest room so I don’t have to trip over them) for so long before I put them away. And then it takes me 5 minutes to put it all away eventually, and I always think, “why didn’t I just do that sooner?” Ha! I used to watch Grays religiously…but haven’t seen it at all this season, unfortunately. Maybe it’s not worth going back and watching though!

Tessa @ Amazing Asset May 4, 2012 at 7:38 am

Ha – I know what you mean about laundry. I wash and dry mine okay, but then there are piles of clean and only half-folded clothing lying about the house for a few days to a week.

I’m totally with you on Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve been watching it since the second or third season, and this one has been booorrring until now.

I love that you say wake ups. When I was a kid, I counted down in sleeps.

And congrats on just 16 more days. Woot!

I am laundry obsessed and do 3 loads every day including fresh laundered sheets and towels every day! I think it is just a routine like brushing your teeth. When I had three kids at home and worked I would start a load at night before bed. In the morning first thing put it in the dryer and start another load. Come home after school, fold the one in the dryer and put the next one in and start another, etc. Now I am at home but the same routine except I don’t have one left over to start at night. Just fold and put it away immediately and it doesn’t seem like it takes all that much time. Now my struggle is making myself sweep my kitchen floor.

I just finished insurgent!!! So sad when it ended. I totally feel you with the laundry, I am so clumsy that I spill food on my clothes at least once a day. Haha, I love that your student knew you had not had coffee. Sounds like me when I don’t get my daily dose

Amber K May 4, 2012 at 12:43 pm

I’m so excited for Insurgent! I’m hoping I’ll still remember everything from Divergent, but I’ve been waiting what feels like forever for it to come out. I much preferred getting into the Hunger Games series late, because at least by then all of the books had come out!

Only 9 early morning wake-ups for me and then it is summer vacation time!

You can send some of your heat this way. . . . it has only been in the 40s here (Anchorage, AK). :( I want summer!

Totally agree about Greys I have watched since the beginning and it has gotten so boring. I kept watching just because I have watched for so many years and these past couple episodes have gotten so much better!!!
Ps I feel you on the laundry situation. I hate laundry with a passion!

Happy Friday!

First I have to say thanks for hosting the Ova Ova giveaway – I won one of the lifetime memberships! Yay!

I have the same laundry issues as you… I would hire someone to put it all away for me. In the next house we build we already decided we will have a laundry room set up as more of a dressing room so you just hang up clothes in the laundry room instead of moving them from laundry room to closet and back again…

I am an avid Grey’s watcher as well. I stopped for about a year and got back into it again this season. I like that you don’t have to watch every episode to enjoy it, not that I ever miss it though!

I am writing this at 2am and I have to be up for work in 6am, but I had to tell you that after reading this post and seeing a new book to read I had to check out Divergent. I picked it up at the library today and started reading it at 6pm and only stopped to talk to the bf, shower and eat dinner. Now the book is done, I will be tired tomorrow, and I will buy the Insurgent tomorrow. Thank you for posting the book! I have been looking for one to read and throw myself into. I guess I got a little caught up in this one!
