Hey everyone — I’m currently gallavanting around on a vacation with the Husband. I’ll be back soon, and I have some posts lined up for you from me and some guests! I’m on a blog free vacation this year! See you soon!
Hi Clean Eating Chelsey readers! I’m Ashley, the blogger behind My Food ‘N’ Fitness Diaries where I share my adventures in food, fitness, and whatever else that randomly crosses my mind.
My husband and I got married a little over a year and half ago and live with our two kids pups, Ryan and Molly.
We live in a smaller town in Utah that doesn’t have many gyms nearby. Needless to say, I’ve had to get creative with my workouts and figure out how to get a lot of my exercise in outside or in my living room. I’ve had fun creating new workouts that take me outside of my usual exercise routines when I used to solely rely on the gym.
I’ve had a gym membership on and off since we’ve been married, but even when I do have a membership, I find that a good portion of my workouts end up being at home because of the convenience.
Below are some of my favorite workouts that I’ve created that you can do in the convenience of your own home or outdoors with little to no equipment. Buy a couple sets of dumbbells, a stability ball, and some resistance bands, and you’re good to go! No excuses!
[Click on each of the workouts to find out more information and details!]
The above workouts are some of my top favorites, but you can find many more workouts HERE that make things fun, challenge your body, and don’t necessarily require a gym. I hope you have some fun with them!
Thanks for having me Chelsey! I hope you’re soaking up the rays and enjoying lots of good eats and drinks for me!

I workout at home most mornings and then do cardio in the gym in the evenings. Love your workouts! I’ve a few pinned!
I take the babe on a walk every morning, then in the evenings when hubby is home do a Body Attack/Body Pump class at the gym. Although I DO love these, I’ve been trying to get in to more cross fit (I’m a cardio kinda girl…). May be trying one of them out soon if I can work up the motivation!
My husband (the other half of Fit with Farrar) and I solely workout at home! We do have some equipment, so it’s a mixture of Crossfit and at-home programs. Obsessed with Beachbody programs (P90X, Insanity, TurboFire, etc.)! No need for a gym with those!!
That’s awesome!
Yay Ashley!!! Haha. I LOVE your workouts because I feel like they look fun rather than intimidating! I need to do this dancing one!
Oh yes you do!
It’s super fun.
I workout at home mostly during the wintertime–it’s easier and more motivating than driving through the snow early in the morning to the gym. I have a seriously huge collection of workouts like this, plus some dvds, to keep things interesting (and challenging)…pinned a few of yours! thank!
I hope you have fun with them!
Simply put – I hate gyms so I LOVE how creative you get because I love doing physical activity outside. The playground workout is one of my favorites
I love these at home workouts. Today my workout consisted of training i.e. sprints and core work!
Love your blog Ashley!! I always workout at home, I say I’m too poor to join a gym
I’ll def try these workouts out!
Thanks Rachel! Hope you have fun with some of these!
I ran yesterday and I’m feeling pretty sore, so I’m probably going to do some yoga today. Thanks for sharing, Ashley, and have fun on your vacation, Chelsey!
Hope you are having fun, Chelsey!
Love these workouts-you can do them anywhere which makes them so appealing! Sometimes it’s hard to get out of the house and if you are out of town it can be tricky too. Great ideas!
I love being able to work out at home! I do so most morning especially when I am time crunched. I do have a gym at work which is a lifesaver. I started this morning with some 1:1 intervals on the elliptical. This afternoon I will be doing either a shoulder or chest and bis workout!
Love Ashley! Such a sweetheart!
I definitely do most of my workouts from home and am only in the gym for spin classes, well not right now.
Gyms are overrated;)
Hope you and the hubby have a great trip together!
I love all these workout ideas all in one post! This post is definitely going to come in handy in the winter when the deep freeze hits and I dread going outside to walk to the gym haha.
Yes exactly! I think getting up when it’s pitch black outside in the freezing cold and driving in the snow is the worst part about going to the gym in the winters!
What great workouts!! Thanks; I’m going to have to try some, especially the dancing.
I usually hit the gym at lunch for cardio and then do some weight/ strength training exercises in the evening while watching tv. These are going to be great for weekends.
This is a terrible article, but the girl is nice; and I love her dogs!
Thanks for sharing! When I do at-home workouts, I tend to like videos on YouTube. My workout today is a hill run
Happy Sunday!
