simone france skin care

February 12, 2013

If you’ve been around these parts for a while, you might remember my skin care woes I shared about a year ago. After my hormones started to regulate, my skin was a giant mess and continued to be so for about a year. I had constant breakouts, and I was so sick of my less than flawless skin.

About four months ago, I read a review that Teri did about a skin care company called Simone France. I was more than intrigued when she wrote about how the products the company offered were the only thing that really worked for her skin. After much thought, I decided to contact the company to see if they would let me try the products out for myself.

Let me preface this by saying that Simone France has some of the best customer service I have ever dealt with. Almost immediately after inquiring about trying the products out, Penny emailed me back with a skin care survey (that every customer fills out) to tell her more about my skin. We then conversed about what products would be best for my skin before Penny sent me them to review.

I am not going to lie, I was blown away at how generous this company was with letting me try their products. I was sent the full line for my skin type to try, and I couldn’t wait to dive in.

I actually received these products mid-November and have been using them religiously ever since. I didn’t write about the products sooner because I wanted to give my skin time to really get used to the products and see how they worked in the long run.

The verdict?

I never want to use anything else on my face for as long as I live.

I’m serious. This is the first line that has worked on my skin in YEARS. What seemed like a rigorous routine at first really only takes three to five minutes in the morning and at night.

The Morning

In the morning, I use the “Sandwich” method – one of Simone France’s signature methods. This provides daily exfoliation without rubbing my skin raw. My face always feels fresh and smooth every single morning.

Every evening I use three to four products. I start with Light Milk which takes away all of my makeup, even my mascara. It is a gentle cleanser, and I am still amazed at how well it works taking everything off. After, I follow up with Gentle Toner which gives my skin a deeper clean feeling and gets the rest of my makeup out of my large pores. I end my routine with light moisture cream and blemish erase (which is seriously a miracle worker).  I love the blemish eraser because it uses all natural ingredients such as different oils to help calm the skin and get rid of blemishes.

Odds and Ends

February 11, 2013 008

Every so often, I use three other products on my skin. Complexion Perfection and Instant Radiance are used 1-2 times per week as facial masks. The Lovely Glow cream is used whenever I get dry patches on my face or if I want a heavier moisturizer at night.

My products also came with cleansing wipes (which I have run out of and didn’t get to photograph) which are used with all of the products.

My skin has been nothing but clear for the last three months (with the exception of a small blemish here or there), and I couldn’t be happier with this company. I really cannot say a negative thing about my experience with the products. Just to give you an idea of how well these products work, one morning in December a co-worker came up to me and told me that I was “glowing” and gave me a little wink. Instead I had to tell her it had nothing to do with “that” and it was just my new skin care routine. The only thing is the price – they are pretty pricey. However, they last for quite some time… and they WORK. In fact, just yesterday I ordered more product so that when I run out I won’t cry and go through withdrawals.

First time customers also get a 20% off their first order by using the FIRST code at check out.

Simone France sent me these products to review in exchange for a review. I was not compensated for my review. All opinions are my own.

I’m glad this works for you! My skin was always fine until a year or so ago when everything I do seems to make it worse. I have a prescription cream that makes my face peel like crazy so I quit using that. Other methods make my non oily face seem oily. I have tried so many methods and am always looking for something that will actually work!

I love learning about new products and companies that have great customer service are all the better!

Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl February 12, 2013 at 6:59 am

How great that you found something that works for you. I have been struggling with acne and skin issues off and on for the last 4 or 5 years. I am seriously thinking about giving this company a try. There is nothing more frustrating than “adult acne” and I am really wanting to find a product line that actually works. Thanks for the heads up!

Wow thanks so much for the review! I’m 25 and still trying to find something that works! I thought acne was supposed to be limited to teen years…

Laura @ Fit Running Mama February 12, 2013 at 7:19 am

Great review– ALWAYS looking for new products! My skin goes through highs and lows… might have to try this out! Awesome customer service is always a bonus!

I’m so glad you found something. I know *exactly* how frustrating bad skin can be!

Allison February 12, 2013 at 8:15 am

I needed this post so bad! I also have had huge problems with acne in the last few months since going on a new birth control pill.

Carly @ Snack Therapy February 12, 2013 at 8:22 am

Skin issues suck. Plain and simple. And it can get reallly expensive trying out tons of different brands. So thanks for this review!!

After going off birth control a year ago, my skin suffered so bad from my hormone levels changing. I’ve been using Proactive, which works great, but does dry out my skin.

Stacey February 12, 2013 at 9:29 am

Ashley, I had the same problem as you. It’s been 6 months and my neck/chest is clear, but my back is still pretty horrendous. My face (knock on wood) never did get bad, so I have that going for me. Did you experience back-ne? What worked for you?

Ashley @ Life and Fitness February 12, 2013 at 9:33 am

Yes that is exactly what happened to me too! My face cleared up, but my back & chest still breaks out badly. I’ve tried using Proactive on my back/chest, but it doesn’t work too well. I try to take my gym clothes off right after my workouts because the sweat makes it so much worse. I’ve been all over the place trying new products, but haven’t found the right one yet. What products have you tried on your back that helped?

Stacey February 12, 2013 at 9:43 am

I use Proactiv’s Deep Cleansing Wash for all over and it has dried up some of my back, but like you it seems every time I workout it starts all over again…. and that’s about every night! I also use Neutrogena’s acne stress control toner twice a day. I just bought it a few weeks ago, so the verdict is still out on it. I have a friend working as a PA for a Dermatologist’s office and she said unfortunately it might just be the way my body is. GASP!

Ashley @ Life and Fitness February 12, 2013 at 9:45 am

Ahhh well thanks for the tips! I think I might start using a cleansing cloth on my back right after my workouts.

Lyric February 12, 2013 at 9:43 am

Skin can be so frustrating and when you find the perfect routine for you it is awesome. I need a new skin care routine so I think Im going to have to try these out!

For anyone going off birth control: it REALLY helps to give your body a little help with all that detoxing (getting rid of synthetic hormones that have accumulated). I take milk thistle (capsule), drink liver detox tea every single day and a greens supplement (plus lots of chia and flax – fiber helps get rid of the hormones).

I also take two capsules of evening primrose oil (about 1.000 mg) and between 25 and 50mg of zinc.

I can recommend “Caudalie” as a great skin care brand (paraben-free) with hormone messed-up skin. And finally, I treat myself to a facial every 6-8 weeks to help my skin.

Lara Baumann February 12, 2013 at 6:47 pm

Just wanted to say I totally agree with doing a liver detox and using supplements to try to maintain balance with the hormones. I found a MAJOR difference after I did a good liver detox, and I’m finding great results with maca root as well as evening primrose oil.

Emily February 12, 2013 at 10:18 am

I’ll have to look into this. After going off birth control this past year, my skin has been problematic for the first time in my entire life. I know I’m lucky to never have dealt with it before, but at 25 it is so frustrating! Damn those hormones ;)

Thank you so much for the thorough review!

Katie @ Peace Love & Oats February 12, 2013 at 11:30 am

Feel free to get me this for Valentine’s Day

Hayley@PbRunnerGirl February 13, 2013 at 6:59 am

I had some similar skin care issues to you, and I started using Estee Lauder, and it worked really well for me. It is just very expensive! I might have to take a look at this brand though, thanks for the review!

Suzanne February 13, 2013 at 7:19 am

Great review – sounds like wonderful products. I found a line recently that I love as well – after many years of trying many things – including prescriptions – that did not do the job. Annmarie Gianni is another line that is great – all natural and uses natural oils which I really need (breaking out a lot- I have always avoided lotions and oils) this line balances me! So glad you found something that works for you.
Now I am in search of an organic/natural hair care line – they all make my hair feel like it has build up. Any suggestions?

Becky February 13, 2013 at 7:29 am

I will be researching this a little closer. My payback for having normal teenager skin has been adult acne. And now the dry patches WITH the acne. Fun. I really despise taken prescription meds just for my skin, but it is getting to the point where it is painful enough for me to consider it again. If the ingredient list is more natural than what I am currently using, I would be willing to give it a shot. Thanks.

Sharla February 13, 2013 at 10:57 am

Finding the right product for skincare can be so frustrating. I have EXTREMELY dry skin and have finally found success with Philosophy products. I could never justify spending a lot of money on “lotion” when I was younger, but now I realize my skin is going to be around as long as I am and I better take care of it!!

Sonya February 14, 2013 at 10:31 am

I use Simone France and feel the same way you do!!! I’ve been a devoted user for over a year and people tell me all the time how great my skin is. And I DID NOT have great skin before. It’s a shame more people don’t know about these products. Great review!

Rebekah April 4, 2013 at 1:38 pm

This sounds so great! Which line did you use? I am interested in trying it and, like you, I have adult acne. I don’t know if I should try the adult acne line or the normal to oily line…

cleaneatingchelsey April 4, 2013 at 7:14 pm

I’m pretty sure I have the normal to oily.
