Emerson & Brooklyn: 1 week old

September 5, 2013

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your kind words and congratulations. It’s hard to believe it, but today marks one week since little Emme and Brooklyn entered our lives.

Brooklyn on the left, Emerson on the right

I’m happy to say that after five days in the special care nursery, Emerson and Brooklyn were released to go home on Tuesday afternoon. It was the Husband’s birthday, so that was an amazing present for him.

Since then, we have been getting to know our little ladies. Because they were in special care, it was very difficult to bond with them those first couple of days. I’ll write more about their birth later, but I actually did not even get to see them for 26 hours after they were born. That was the WORST.

Each girls has their own distinct personality and look. Emerson definitely favors what I looked like when I was born (dark hair and all!), and Brooklyn is an absolute clone of her daddy. It’s actually a little eerie – she even has his faux hawk.

I’m in the works of writing a few posts for you – one on the crazy days leading up to their birth and one about their actual birth story. I’m sure you understand it may take me a little while to get those (and any other) posts up in the next few days/week.

Until then, I’m soaking up every second with my girls!

They are absolutely gorgeous. And those names? Amazing. One of my friends is planning on naming her baby girl Brooklyn :) . And the name Emerson is definitely going into my When I Have a Baby 8 Years From Now folder. So glad to hear they (and you!) are doing well. Sending lots of good thoughts, happiness, and SLEEP vibes your way.

Literally gasped when I saw a picture of the babies was posted! They are beautiful and the names-oh I LOVE Emerson and Brooklyn (they could be Emme and Brook as nicknames??!). Congratulations Chelsey!

Congrats on getting them home!!!! I’m so jealous :( Gage is home but Jack is still in NICU - he actually had surgery this past Saturday and that will hopefully make it easier for him to get on the path to home. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that your girls look like each of you, my boys are EXACTLY the same! It’s fun to have a clone of each of us, plus it gives the kids their own identities since they don’t look exactly alike! Enjoy every moment :)

So precious! My best friend had her twins during the middle of the bird flu scare and she didn’t get to see them for like three days. It was awful! What was worse for her was that I could visit them and I could visit her, but she wasn’t allowed to see them.

Congratulations on the arrival of your girls! Such an exciting time. My 6 year old daughter (who knows I read your blog regularly), was thrilled to see baby Emerson has the same first name as her. :) It’s a beautiful, uncommon name. She is always amazed when she hears someone else has the same.
