I am pretty surprised how often and how many questions I get on where I get my little fashionistas’ clothing. I have almost no fashion sense at all, and what I have is never used on me. It’s funny – when I go shopping these days, I rarely look at things for myself. I head straight to the little girls’ section and look at cute pieces for Brooklyn and Emerson. I thought it would be nice to have a post dedicated to where I get some of the girls’ pieces so I could refer people to when asked. Here we go!
Do you always dress the girls alike? How long are you going to keep that one up?
97% of the time and for as long as they let me.
Where do you get the girls’ clothing from?
Cheap places! I frequent Target, Kohl’s, and Old Navy for the most part. I also go to Carter’s, but only when they are having a 50% off sale and I have reward $$ to put towards my purchase. I have also gotten a few things from Baby Gap, but only if it’s on sale. It’s rare that I pay full price for any item for them – it’s not worth it for the few months they can wear their clothing.
I’m not into “cutesy” or “baby’ish” items, which my mom makes fun of me for. She’s always telling me that they are babies, so it’s acceptable. If I wouldn’t wear it in my size, it’s rare you’ll find my children in it. 😉
Having twins, it’s hard to shop the clearance racks because there is never two of an item that I like. The only time I’ll splurge on an item is if it’s from a small business owner that I find and like.
However, for the most part, I buy basics that I am able to mix and match. A lot of times if I buy an “outfit” that is already put together, I organize it in their closets and drawers separately. That way, I never have the preconceived thought that two items “have to go together”.
Where do you find “small businesses” to buy from?
Oh my goodness you guys… I fell into a black hole about six months ago and I just can’t get out. Did you know that not only are there a zillion awesome Etsy shops out there, but there are also stores strictly on Instagram?? The majority of Instagram accounts I follow now are small business owners – mainly mommies – trying to sell products they’re passionate about. It’s like this secret society I never knew about, and now that I do… I can’t forget about it!
Most of the shops I follow also have websites, but man oh man is Instagram a great business tactic!
What are your favorite Etsy/Boutique shops?
I mostly get the girls’ headbands off of Etsy, as well as a select few other shops I have found and love. Some of my favorites include…
- Sweet T Shoppe – Tessa is awesome. She has some of the best priced products out there, and they are such high quality items. I am always impressed with her headbands, wraps, and bows. The fabric she uses for her wraps are so soft, and the girls never pull them off their heads. She is a doll to work with, does a lot of “pre-order sales” on Instagram, and ships within days of purchasing.
- Jameson Monroe – I love love love this shop. I have ordered from Chelsea at least 5-6 times in the last year, and her products never disappoint. One of the best things about a lot of Chelsea’s headbands is that she uses a skinny elastic. Bows that fit on the girls’ heads also fit on Aubrey’s head at 3 years old. These bows are built to last! Chelsea also has a lot of Groop Dealz sales, so a lot of times I snag some of her things for over 50% off original price. She is great with custom orders and makes visions come alive – she did the girls’ first birthday bows!

- Shelby Chic Boutique – I have only ordered from this shop a few times, but I have a few of her wraps on the way again! She has the cutest wraps and accessories.

How do you find all of these shops!?
A lot of times from other blogs… most of the time from tapping once on a picture on Instagram. A lot of people tag what their child is wearing which inevitably causes me to find another shop that I love!
