keeping it together: a review

January 21, 2015

One of these days, I’m going to have it all together.

I won’t be frantically running around my house in the morning trying to get out the door.

I’m not going to get to the store without my list in hand.

I WILL have a coat on when it is 20 degrees outside.

I will always remember to pack bibs in the diaper bag.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen. Life is in fast forward these days, and it is "go go go!" from sun up to sun down. I like it though. I often think about my life before children and wonder "how the heck did I think I didn’t have time to do it all?".

(sidenote: this is not to say that if you DON’T have children, you do have more time than me. Not. At. All. We all have the same time, and we are all busy people with different obligations!)

Every year I start out with the same idea in mind - be organized this year. Have my life together. Plan a little more. Worry a little less. You know, less notes scrawled on napkins and tucked into my purse, and more organization all in one area. A girl can dream, right?

That’s where this amazing KIT "Keeping it Together" planner comes in.

Recently, the KIT team sent me this amazing planner for 2015, and I have high hopes that it’s going to do just that - help me keep it together. This planner has a lot of features, and I can tell that a lot of time and effort was put into the design and function of the product. Since I’m all about lists and organization right now, I thought a little list of pro’s and con’s to go through the features would be great!

PRO’s

Months at a Glance: I love monthly calendars where I can put in all of my important meetings and events. It helps me to plan my weeks and keep everything in one location. I also have a monthly calendar on my fridge, where I like to keep the same thing so that John and my mom are aware of my schedule. The thing that I LOVE about the monthly calendar pages on this planner is that there is a spot for "celebrations" that month. Things like baby showers, wedding showers, weddings, birthdays, etc. can go in that table. It highlights "who, when, and gift". Love this! For someone who always puts off getting gifts, this has really helped me to plan ahead!

Months organized by tabs: Enough said.

Week at a glance: Within the monthly tabbed sections are "weeks at a glance". I love these pages, and again, have been putting in important meetings, as well as putting my meal plan for the week on this page.

Day by day pages: There is SO much on the daily page, which I love. There is a huge section up at the top that you can use for just about anything you need - a daily schedule, a to-do list, a meal you want to cook, etc. The bottom section has a "gratitude" section which you can write down what you are grateful for each day as well as a "fitness & fluids" section where you can check off how many glasses of water you have drank throughout the day as well as any fitness goals you want to check off your list that day. Each page is colorful and has a quote as well as a fun fact at the bottom of the page. Love this!

Doodle Page: I am a professional doodler. I always have been, I always will be. I was the kid in class who doodled while she listened to lectures (and one of the reasons I won’t necessarily always call my students out on it) and make notes and doodle while I talk on the phone. I can’t just sit still. I love this page. I haven’t doodled yet, but I can envision myself making notes on these pages during phone calls or 500just drawing a quick picture/design when my little heart feels like it.

Colorful design & Extras: This entire planner is just so cheery. I love opening it up every day (or multiple times a day) to make a note. The planner also comes with a few larger gold paper clips to keep your place in the planner for easy opening as well as different labels and stickers for appointments, goals, and nutrition.

CON’s

It was hard to come up with any cons for this planner because I love it so much. However, I wanted to look at it from everyone’s perspective so there are a few things that might not work for everyone.

Size: While the actual dimensions of this planner aren’t that large (it’s about 8×8 inches?) – it is thick because it has a page for every single day. So, if you’re looking for a planner you can slip into a smaller purse, this one isn’t for you. I have been putting it in my work bag every morning or have been keeping it on my kitchen table when I am at home, so it has been working out for me!

Cost: You can tell the creators of this planner put their hearts and souls into it. It really has just about everything you can think of, and it is NOT a planner you could buy from Staples or Target. With that being said, it is a little pricey – but SO worth it.

Overall, I give this planner a 9/10. It has been meeting my needs and then some these past few weeks that I have been using it (on a daily basis, might I add). It might just be the product you need to help you stay organized this year!

Disclosure: While I was gifted this KIT planner, all opinions and ideas are my own.
