Good morning everyone! I was thinking that I didn’t have to hit publish on this post until tomorrow because I have the day off for MLK today, but I suppose the weekend technically is over. This weekend was a lot of fun – even though we didn’t do anything too terribly exciting.
Friday night was pretty typical over here. We ordered some pizza, cozied up on the couch with the girls, and dozed on and off on the couch after they went to bed. We are big partiers these days! Okay, in reality this was our life before children as well.
On Saturday I had plans to meet up with Lauren for brunch, but the weather called for 3-5 inches of snow. The highway I have to take to get into the city is always a mess when the weather is bad so we rescheduled (for today!). I didn’t feel comfortable driving an hour with the girls in bad conditions that probably would have made our trip longer! Instead, I stayed local with my mom and we ran to a few grocery stores. Of course any time we leave the house it means that the headbands have to come out – Saturday’s was a black band with a hot pink flower attached to it.
Of course, add two almost 5 month olds to the mix and a trip to the grocery store turns into an all day event. We went to Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, broke for lunch at Noodles & Company, and then stopped at Costco. By the time I got home, I was wiped and my day was almost completely gone.
To be honest, I can’t even remember what I did for dinner – maybe a salad and some leftover pizza? John was out snowplowing the majority of the day, but he came home for a little while right around bedtime which was much appreciated. It’s possible to do bedtime with just one person, but having both parents home is best. I know the girls love their snuggle time before bed, and I hate it when only one of us is home because they miss out on it. The girls went down like angels, John left again, and I tried to clean up the house a little bit. After, I once again, dozed on the couch until it was time for the girls’ dream feed and I could go to bed!
Yesterday was a lot of fun. One of my best friends came to visit for the afternoon since she hadn’t seen the girls since they were a few weeks old. Sarah was a little upset when she got here because the girls were asleep and continued to sleep for another 2 hours. I was ecstatic! We hung out around the house, played with the girls, and we even put together a new toy for the girls. This was quite an accomplishment since I always make the husband put everything together.
They absolutely love it. Brooklyn is like a wild child in the saucer – I really don’t know what I’m going to do when that child starts moving around. She is going to be a tornado!
Emerson is more subdued in everything that she does (except talking – boy can that girl scream), but she certainly was impressed, and maybe a little bit scared of the octopus.
The rest of the day was spent hanging with the girls, and trying out a new to me dinner recipe. Courtney posted about this slow cooker garlic and brown sugar chicken last week, and it was deeeelicious. We have plenty of leftovers too which makes me a happy woman!
Before I ate dinner, Brooklyn woke up from her last nap and was not too happy when she woke up. Most of the time Brooklyn is not a snuggler – she wants to be on the move! Last night, however, she cuddled up on my shoulder for a good 10 minutes. I tried to snap a picture, but of course she moved right away but posed nicely for the camera!
After the girls went to bed, I tried to catch up on some grad school readings and then watched Downton Abbey before bed.
Today includes lunch with Lauren, trying to straighten this house up, and finishing my grad work for tomorrow’s class! Have a great day everyone!
Question: What were some of your weekend highlights?

The snow seems to be never-ending here…5 inches on Saturday, 3 more today…I know it’s too early to say it but I’m just ready for spring.
Wow. The little ones are so beautiful! Amazing how quickly they grow and are so different as twins. How you did all that shopping Chelsey is beyond me. I could never. It takes forever to shop at CostCo. My version anyway! We always look forward to reading your interesting posts!
Sounds like a great weekend! That slow cooker chicken dish looks amazing!
I’d be curious to see how your diet has changed since becoming pregnant. I know you started eating meat while you were pregnant, and since you’ve continued to do so postpartum, I’d love to hear more about your diet transitions.
i just love reading about you being a mama. makes me smile.
It was so so good to see you today hun! I can’t get over how incredibly perfect Brooklyn and Emerson are!!! Miss you and can’t wait to see you again soon! XO

3-5 inches of snow! That’s crazy! The girls are too cute. It’s so funny how different their personalities are. We went to Tennessee this weekend for my husband’s grandfather’s 90th birthday. Most of the family was there so it was fun to get to catch up!
I swear everyone has that exersaucer (I did!). But it really is the bomb.com. Nia was so fixated on herself in the mirror for a while there and loved sucking on the ribbon on the crab - love my little weirdo
haha
I can’t believe they’re 5 months and serious props to you for taking them out to grocery stores!!! You’re my hero lol
