WIAW

June 18, 2014

Good morning – happy Wednesday to you all! I swear, the days go by SO much quicker now that I am home during the day. I love it!

I am linking up with the one and only Jenn this morning for a little What I Ate Wednesday. It’s been forever since I have done one!

Peas and Crayons

My day started nice and early around 5:10 – I got my behind out of bed to go for a run before John had to leave and the girls woke up. I only made it about 2.5 miles though, and most of it was walking. There was a nasty wind out there – I could barely walk!

When I got home, the girls gave me the gift of being quiet until 6:00 AM. Woohoo! Then we got up and played, and I ate some breakfast. I forgot to take a picture until I was halfway done. I haven’t had oatmeal for a while, and it was delicious!

June 17, 2014 004
Around 10:30 I got hungry, so I snacked on a Luna bar while I played with the girls. I knew I wouldn’t be eating again until they went down for a nap around 1.

June 17, 2014 006
We typically go for a walk after their first nap, but it was SO hot outside yesterday. It was 95 degrees and super humid. Instead, we stayed inside and played. I’m not going to lie, I like having that walk break up the day! Hopefully today will be a little cooler. If not, I’m busting out the baby pool!

June 17, 2014 008
I think it’s time to baby proof or something?

June 17, 2014 010
Once the girls went down for their nap, I settled on the couch for some lunch. I never understood before why people waited until their children went down for a nap/went to bed to eat lunch and dinner but I totally get it now. Peace and quiet… aaahhhh.

For lunch I had a huge salad with romaine, tomatoes, red onion. avocado, garbanzo beans, and corn. I drizzled it all with some honey mustard dressing.

June 17, 2014 011
On the side I had a slice of gluten free bread with melted mozzarella cheese.

June 17, 2014 012
I also ate a few pieces of dark chocolate. It had to be done.

While I was eating my lunch, I watched Emerson stand up many many times in her crib before she finally settled down. That also meant I was up and putting her back down many many times – girlfriend can get up, but most of the time she can’t get down.

June 17, 2014 013
Before class (I have ONE more week left – ONE!! And then I am done with my masters degree – woot!) I stopped for a little afternoon pick me up.

June 17, 2014 015
I had some horrible planning on my part this afternoon. I typically bring a snack to class because I don’t get home until 7:30-8:30 depending on when we get out. I forgot to bring a snack, so when I got home I was STARVING. I made the quickest meal in the history of the world, and it was so so good.

Sweet potato, spinach, and cheese enchiladas. Yum!

June 17, 2014 019
I went back and made one more because they were that good (and I was so hungry).

After dinner I had more chocolate.

June 17, 2014 020
I’ve been chocolate heavy for the past few days. I stopped pumping when school let out (9 months strong!), and I have some residual clogs going on. Why don’t people ever tell you about these things before you have children? Seriously. Jenn told me to eat chocolate – one because it’s delicious and two because it has lecithin. I’ll take any reason to eat chocolate!

Before bed I’m sure I’ll have a snack – and I should make it a piece of fruit. I barely ate any fruit today (yesterday).

Today starts one week that I have to live without my mom. She’s in Hawaii, and I am insanely jealous! Aaaaand if I survive the next week without her, it will be a miracle. ;)

Be back tomorrow with my third Stitch Fix!

As a fellow teacher, I can’t imagine working, taking care if your adorable girls, and getting your masters! Your amazing!! What is your masters degree in? I finished mine two years ago (elementary and special education) and definitely need a break from school for a while!

You got up at 5:10?! Tell me how I can become an early bird like that. I wish I was because being a night owl doesn’t make me feel accomplished by the time other people do - read: in the middle of the day already with laundry done, a workout c0mpleted and a clean bathroom.
I’d take any reason to eat more chocolate, too. Hm… any ideas I as a non-mom could use ;) ?! Regarding the weather I’d say bust out the lawn sprinkler. Oh the joy of running through it when we were younger, haha.
Fingers crossed for a - positively - uneventful mom-free week on your parts!

Make sure whatever chocolate you eat has lecithin in it! It sounds like you get mastitis. Have you seen your doctor? They can give you an antibiotic to clear up the infection. If you let mastitis go on for too long it’s not good!

yeah i did call and they ruled it out - no streaking or sharp pain just tender and advil helped

Oh good! I am/was a freak about making sure I don’t get mastitis. I’m glad I never experienced that!

Enchilada’s look good!!!! My go to quick meal is always an omelette or scrambled eggs! I’d eat half a dozen of them with salsa..I am addicted!

I had to do a double take when I saw a WIAW from you pop up in my feed this morning… This was basically my face -> But hi :) Wanna catch up over chocolate? Because I seriously haven’t been able to get enough of the stuff either… and I don’t even have the excuse of needing it to deal with residual clogging (uhm… what?!?!)

haha yeah that was probably a TMI. But yay for WIAW! I was actually on top of my life yesterday!

You need to - you need lots of extra calories for those growing babies!

I’m so happy that you get these summer days with your girls! I bet they are just loving having their mama home. Haha when I stopped nursing, I spent lots of time massaging out those annoying clogged ducts in the shower. Good times. It’s always nice to have a good excuse to eat chocolate! ;)

They’re the worst, and I swear regardless of how “slowly” you wean, they’re inevitable!

Still waiting for your pumping post and I can’t wait. :)

Ok now I’m starving. I’m totally just showing up with the chickpea and requesting that quesadilla you promised me ;)

The day they learn to lay back down after standing…. glorious! Fingers crossed the chunky monkies get it figured out soon!

Weaning clogs were the WORST! I started weaning at 9.5mo PP and finished at about 10.5mo and the first week I got one of the worst clogs ever. Seriously thought it was going to turn into mastitis! Isn’t it so freeing to be done???? Hope you are enjoying your summer with your gorgeous girls :)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 20, 2014 at 2:13 pm

It is definitely freeing to be done! I wish I could have gone until a year, but I couldn’t imagine how I was going to make that work with being home from work since I was exclusively pumping. These girls are BUSY!

Reply

Carly June 20, 2014 at 2:20 pm

Exactly! I EPed too and there was no way I could justify my summer spent attached to a pump vs. spending time with my boys :) It was easy to do before they were mobile, but now I just don’t want to miss a second!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 20, 2014 at 2:20 pm

or… you CAN’T miss a second because they’ll be into something dangerous! haha!

Reply

Carly June 20, 2014 at 3:10 pm

That too! I think what put the nail in the coffin on my pumping was the day that I heard Jack scream because his head got caught under the ottoman…. I pumped in the kitchen and they were in the living room (I could stand up and see them over the couch and would do so periodically). Now Gage is climbing on everything and I can’t imagine trying to pump and manage that! LOL
