battle of the chair

October 8, 2010

If you’re anything like me, you grew up in a world full of Friends — no, not your bestie you have been friends with for your entire life… I’m talking Monica, Chandler, Joey, Phoebe, Rachel, and Ross. I loved (and still) love Friends. I may or may not still be in mourning about how that show is cancelled. Many of you may recall “The One Where No one is Ready”. If not, you don’t need to know too much about it other than the fact that Chandler and Joey fight over a chair for the majority of the episode.

Now I would like you to imagine the Husband and I fighting over a single cushion of the couch EVERY single night. It builds quite the tension around here, I tell ya!  Currently, I lost the battle… all because I had to go to the bathroom. Totally unfair. Squatters, anyone?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My day was totally not exciting in the food department… you’ll just have to deal with it I’m afraid.

Breakfast? Overnight Pumpkin oats — topped with chopped honeycrisp & almond butter (left) and pecan butter (right). Rounded out with one two cups of coffee.

There were some definite mid morning snacks thrown into the mix today — whoever brought treats today did a fabulous job! They even made some awesome marinated veggies that rocked my world. I loaded up my salad for lunch with some of them! The salad was also topped with a homemade black bean burger that has been hanging out in my fridge for a while!

On the side, I had a HUGE honeycrisp apple!

After school today I finally got the chance to catch up with some friends I used to teach with. After moving to a different school this year, I feel totally out of the loop with them. We used to run every single day after school to take a breather from work and just laugh. I miss that time every day now — unfortunately, my old school is completely in the opposite direction of the way home so it only happens every once in a while. While my legs were dragging, they kept me occupied! It was so nice to catch up with them… even nicer that it was 80 degrees outside!!!

The Husband and I went out for dinner tonight — unfortunately all my pictures are blurry… including the one of my dinner. You’ll have to excuse me on this one.

Horrible right?

Don’t forget to enter my Artisana Nut Butter Giveaway that ends tonight at Midnight! I will pick a winner in the morning!

As for right now, I’m going to go put all of my husband’s clothes on and start doing lunges in hopes of him moving off of the couch.

Question: Do you have a favorite place to sit in your living room?

haha my pecan butter squeeze packet was almost gone - it wasn’t enough nut butter, so I opted for both!

80 degrees= my fall.
I am dreading winter when it may dip into the 60s for a week.

Such is the life in SoFla.

Glad you scored some good eats at you school.

Maybe there are some other like-minds in your new school that can run and maybe do healthy good lunches with…that would be so cool.

Or…maybe you can make new friends and inspire their fitness goals?
You don’t write about your teaching in and outs must…but…do you inifuse the “healthy outlook on life” into your kids….do do you have to teach the nutri-pyramid? Do you infuse your “healthiness” into your kids. I am hoping you do…but it would be, hmm..difficult. I once got reprimanded for teaching a sub student that their hamburger was actually a cow. It came up so innocent. “Why do you have that?” “Idon’t eat meat.” “but this is a burger” “Yes…It’s from a cow.” “So, this is a cow…..” You see where I am going. Totally innocent. I tried so hard to say nothing. (I’m sort of passionate about this)…perhaps it would make for a good share.

That was actually one of my least favorite Friends episodes… I’m really weird because on episodes like that one I just sit there anxious because everyone is going to be late… I’ve turned into my dad. Omg.

But now the couch cushion thing reminds me of Big Bang Theory- no one can sit in Sheldon’s spot.. ha ha

Love that episode!
My fav. scene is when Joey starts doing lunges in all of Chandlers clothes! Ha! too funny.
I swear I can watch that show over and over again and it never gets old…the true testament of a quality show.

LOL that’s funny that you and your husband have couch battles! Everyone in our apartment likes this round cushion chair thingie - usually I opt out of sitting in it because my roommate always gets food crumbs in the cracks. Gross.

I like the couch, personally.

That was probably one of the funniest episodes ever, and then when Joey comes in wearing all of Chandler’s clothes and does lunges…classic!!!!

Hi! October 9, 2010 at 6:41 am

I was never into Friends when it was actually on the air. I only started watching it later when it was all re-runs, and I like it for sure.

I don’t have a living room or a couch. Ha. My tv is crammed by my stove….to move my “table”, that is the only way to open the fridge, etc…its all a bit of a box…and yes, i’m 29 years old and never thought it would come to this….someday, right? Just keep believing.

Hahaha oh my gosh, I died from laughter during that episode where Joey puts on all of Chandler’s clothes and does lunges. Friends will never get old for me! :D

Haha, I love that episode, too! And how nice you got to catch up with your school/running buddies - I wish I had friends like that at my school. :-) Almost everyone I work with is old enough to by my parent - great mentors, though. Happy weekend!

That’s a great episode! Thankfully the Husband and I each have our favorite seat in the family room and it’s not the same one! What’s with all the huge apples this year? I love it!

There’s a particular corner of our couch that me, my mom and my sister usually fight over. It’s the right corner and there is just something cozier about it than the left. We’ve finally come to a silent agreement that the first person on the couch gets that corner and there will be no arguing.

I’ve actually never watched many Friends episodes since we got rid of cable from the time I was 5-12. Then when we finally DID get TV all I wanted to watch was.. ANTM. Haha.
