wicked exhausted

December 9, 2010

Two things:

1. I’m quite impressed by the response to the NuttZo giveaway that’s going on over here! Keep on entering — it’s your last chance tonight!

2. My brain is absolute mush right now. Any typos or information which shouldn’t be shared (and is) is not my fault.

Hands down I have the best mother and aunt in the world. Last night, the four of us went into the city (Chicago if you’re new around here) to see Wicked. I have seen it before with Mommasita, but the Sister and Aunt have not before. My mom graciously bought us tickets to go see the play. It is my absolute favorite performance. The Wicked Witch of the West is so misunderstood! Before, we went to dinner, which was absolutely wonderful — Thanks Mom and Aunt Deb!

While that was a great night, staying up past midnight on Wednesday nights don’t really fly over too well with me. I’m a “be in bed at 9 every night” kind of girl if I do say so myself.

So when that alarm clock went off at 5:15 (yes, that’s sleeping in), I didn’t exactly fly out of bed.

At least I had oatmeal on the brain…

Chocolate Peanut Butter Oats to be exact — with a tall (2) mugs of coffee to get me rolling for a long day of teaching.

Thankfully, Thursday mornings are super easy for me — I feel like I tell you that every Thursday.

One of my plan periods was used to eat a large portion of grapes the Husband bought me the other day. I actually wrote “get grapes” on his To Do List he was making — can’t ignore a food craving!

It was also pointed out to me I’m living in the past….

During lunch, I used some of my time to work on a few blog things…

Any ideas of what’s coming in the (very) near future?

Lunch looks disgusting — don’t judge me. It tasted good going down and leftovers are never overrated when it comes to getting only five hours of sleep.

I had to risk my life to go get my CSA box after school today — this time it wasn’t because I was afraid of the location still, but because of the snow! It started snowing on my way home. It has since stopped.. but is supposed to start again soon.

I came home and kicked it up with Jillian with 6 Week 6 Pack — holy abs. Other than the fact that I kept yelling at the Husband to go away and not look in my direction while looking like a fool, it was awesome. Definitely a great alternative when I couldn’t get to the gym today.

Because dinner calls…

I think the first thing I thought of after eating my breakfast this morning was roasted vegetables. That’s all I wanted all day. I kept thinking about them. My mind revolved around them.

Thank goodness that was taken care of.

Roasted: kolrabi, red peppers, purple carrots, and red kabocha squash. Tossed in olive oil and roasted at 425 degrees for 30 minutes

Pure bliss…

Since I was all about overdosing with veggies at dinner, I also had a large green salad topped with massive amounts of unpictured hummus.

Before dinner, I gave the Husband a hard time about not wishing me a “Happy Engagement Day” as he proposed one year from today.

I tried to convince him all couples celebrate this with romantic dinners, flowers, and lovey-dovey messages in the snow (“Will You Marry Me?” was written in the snow last December).

He did not know how he was supposed to remember this day when he can’t remember what he ate for dinner yesterday. I suggested him writing it down in his phone.

During dinner his phone kept making this weird alien noise…when we checked out the situation, it seemed as if he already did that LAST year!

He programmed it into his phone so he wouldn’t forget the date or the time.

I’m pretty sure I had something to do with that.

And he thinks I should have given him another hour to bring it up.

Regardless, it has been recorded and remembered… I’ll report back next December 9.

Until then, I’ll leave you with two things.

1. I should have eaten protein with dinner — I’m hungry already.

2. It’s either more coffee or bedtime right about now. Bed is looking more promising by the minute.

Question: What are some food cravings you have been having lately? OR Have you ever seen a Broadway play? OR How do you handle days where you have not had enough sleep?

Don’t forget to enter the NuttZo giveaway! It ends tonight at Midnight!

I’m so jealous! I’d love so see Wicked- BFF raves about it & is on my case to read the books. I’ve only seen The Lion King on Broadway, but it was awesome!!

and p.s. how about a proposal post in the future?!? I always tell the BF that when he decides that it’s time, I want him to pop the question during a walk through the snow haha

Haha awww, your hubby is too cute!!! Sometimes, it’s not always the fact that if they remember, it’s what they do to ensure that they will remember that counts. :)

I’ve seen Wicked and Legally Blond the Musical, both in Chicago. Wicked to me was just okay, but Legally Blond was HILARIOUS!
The phone timer is too cute!

My mom had always wanted to see Wicked so when I found out it was coming to Denver I bought tickets for her for her birthday. We went out to dinner before the play and my mom insisted on getting fettuccine alfredo even though she’s lactose intolerant. 5 minutes into the play she said she didn’t feel good and I ended up watching the first act by myself. It was not how I had envisioned the night but hey, at least I got to see it!

Happy Proposal Anniversary ha ha :)

I MEANT cut him a little bit of slack.

Okay…yeah…I’m clearly either tired or a freudian pervert.

Sorry!

I do NOT function well without enough sleep, I suck it up but I’m always cranky. My friend has seen Wicked 3 times but I haven’t gone yet, I just imagine the commercial where she sings “Yeaaaeaaaaa.” It makes sense in my head haha

My sister’s husband proposed the same way! Only it was in red paint, and my sister thought someone had gotten really injured at first.

My calender at work is on January 2008. I’m WAY behind. :)

I’ve always wanted to see Wicked! So far I’ve seen Avenue Q and All Shook Up. Chicago and Mamma Mia on movies. :-)

I haven’t been having much cravings lately. It worries me. I usually always have an appetite for something.

Hmmmm I’m not sure about your not having cravings - although my appetite has been seriously weird lately. It’s driving me nuts!

Aw, sounds like such a fun night with your family!! Ad midnight on a Wednesday would probably be the death of me, too :P
I get random “I. need. roasted. veg.” cravings, too. By now I know better than to JUST have veggies because I’ll be hungry an hour later (even though it is so filling at the time) but that doesn’t stop me from doing it :P Not like the kitchen is very far away when I get hungry!

cleaneatingchelsey December 10, 2010 at 10:41 am

The craving was so ridiculous - I thought I would DIE if I didn’t get any! :) Lesson was learned with the protein… although I kind of like getting hungry again before I go to bed so I can have a snack (not that NOT being hungry keeps me from not eating one! :) )

I’m so jealous you went to see Wicked, I really want to see that!

My alarm goes off at 4:30, so I’m in bed by 8:30 or 9. If I don’t get enough sleep, the next day is killer and I’m in need of mass amounts of caffeine!

Your roasted veggies look so yummy!!!

I’ve never seen a play on Broadway, but I’m dying to see Wicked and Mamma Mia! I love love love going to the theater! :D

Going to bed so late and getting up that early would kill me though! I hope you got a good sleep last night to make up for it!

I get up at 5:15 too so I MUST be in bed by 10 at the latest. This is a problem because my social life must take a back seat but at least I can function in the morning!

I was craving pesto all day today, completely out of the blue! Managed to get some though (roasted red pepper, so delicious…) and ate it with baked aubergine which was the daddy-o.
I’m thinking, seeing your photo, it would also be perfect on some roasted vegetables - and wondering whether I can fit in another dinner :-)
