a little on the wild side

December 29, 2010

According to the official polls (aka the commenting section) from yesterday, it seems you all are an incessant bunch as well. I’ve gotten that you are stubborn, sensitive, stressed, and annoyed with others as well. We are quite the bunch, aren’t we? Luckily for you, all of those are some of my greatest attributes as well.

This morning was rough — I won’t lie to you. I kind of felt like Charlie in this picture…

Really he was yawning, but it seems like he was screaming at the entire world to “JUST LET ME SLEEP!” Well, when your Husband asks you to get him up at 6:30, you get up at 6:30 for him. In all honesty though, I just wanted to stay in bed.

Then I remembered one of the reasons why I actually made those English Muffins yesterday. No, it wasn’t just because I wanted to feel good about myself (which I did), but I also wanted to make a breakfast that I have been coveting for months — Ashley’s Vegan Pumpkin French Toast!

I’ve never had the English Muffins to make them — particularly because I refuse to shell out $5.00 a package for gluten free ones.

I made them exactly as Ashley’s recipe says to do, and they were fantastic. I grilled up some banana slices to go on top as well.

I’m drooling again just looking at my breakfast!

Topped with some peanut butter and a drizzle of maple syrup, these were heavenly!

After breakfast, I got to work on the juice.

Okay, eww. I don’t even like orange juice — however, the Husband has a slight intense obsession with it. He is always afraid we are going to run out of orange juice. In fact, the other day, I bought a half gallon (even though there was still about half of another one). That night, I sent him out for some ketchup (serious business!) and he came home with two more because he “swore we were out”. In the end, we had 4 half gallons of orange juice sitting in our fridge. High pulp — GROSS!

I didn’t drink the juice, but it did come in handy when Jillian told me I needed hand weights — I have none. Insert OJ!

Not only did Jillian kick my bootay on Level 2, but I’m pretty sure the orange juice was more difficult than regular weights. I may just be dreaming that, but I’m going to stick with it. How in the world does that woman make me hate my life in only 20 minutes? It’s a mystery… and she is allowed to call herself “TV’s Toughest Trainer”.

This afternoon I had plans with the Bestie, so lunch was a little bit early. I broke into leftovers from last night — we went out with a few friends to a restaurant called Heaven on Seven. It is a Cajun/Creole restaurant, and I definitely recommend it for any palette! They had an array of different choices, from gumbo, jambalaya, pot pies, and for  vegetarians, they had a couple of different choices. They also had a gluten free menu. I ended up getting the vegetarian platter, which was a huge selection of grilled vegetables served atop rice and Creole sauce. Holy deliciousness.

I didn’t have too much leftover as I pretty much destroyed it last night, but I topped it with some spinach and hummus. I also had a side salad with hummus as well.

Can we talk Black Swan for a moment? Holy craziness. I’m not going to ruin it for anyone out there — but it was good. Really good. There were some stereotypical ballerina scenes which I deemed “unnecessary”, and it really left you to “choose your own ending”, but I really liked it. The Bestie and I read Caitlin’s analysis afterwards and agreed with most everything she wrote! We hung out for a few hours after the movie so she could meet her godson!

For dinner tonight, I made the Husband a meatloaf. Surprisingly, it turned out much better than the meat mush I made him a few months ago. ::whew:: I can die a happy wife.

I was so involved in making his meatloaf that I forgot to press my tofu — which meant I had a veggie fest dinner (and also means a snack is soon to be put into my stomach).

Roasted green beans and a sweet potato…

And a large spinach salad.

Must. Eat. Snack. Now!

I realize this post is far from interesting — and fairly long as well. However, how often do you get a daily post anymore? Since I find my life to be extremely interesting (there goes my egocentrism again), I thought you might as well.

Did I mention I also did laundry today? I like to live life on the wild side.

Question: Have you seen Black Swan? What did you think? OR Tell me the best part of your day… because I want to care about others.

Gah…that breakfast is amazing! Geez!!!

I hate OJ too! With a passion. It makes me want to gag! And I live in Florida where we are famous for oranges.

Yuck!

I’m going to say if you were traveling on some warm beach (which I know you were) that I wish I could come up with some kind of come back to let you know how much I wish I was on some kind of warm beach.

I saw Black Swan the other day and although I thought it was good I actually found is far more predictable than I was expecting!

Chelsey I have 2 orange juice fiends in my house as well…I don’t drink it much but I am instructed to buy some as soon as I go to the store for my fellow house-mates(my boyfriend and his sister.) Oh and if I buy Simply Orange instead of Kroger brand…watch out! It’s gone in a day, no joke! So, basically I’m trying to say I know what your going through lol.

I haven’t seen Black Swan yet but I really want to! I danced for 13 years growing up so I love dance movies!!! Center Stage is one of my all time favorites :)

I have not heard of this Black Swan movie, I will have to look it up.
Korea only gets certain foreign movies, so that’s probably why.
I dig the 30 day shred. I finished it a couple months ago…now I am doing
her Banish Fat Boost Metabolism and No More Trouble Zones, both of which I like.
p.s. I thought level 2 was more difficult than level 3

Thoughts?

I think some parts are kind of disturbing and there is that whole lesbian sex scene going on (which really isn’t as raunchy are people are making it out to be) - but you can always cover your eyes (which is why i did for a few scenes!

The best part of my day was reading your comment on my post wherein you shared that awesome song.
Thank you!

So happy you have gotten your muffin swagger on….YAY to saving money!
I have to wait for Black Swan to come out on Netflix…but most of what I read online is so focused on the actresses’ bodies I feel like I should probably steer clear for now .

I’ve heard it can be triggering for those with ED - there are a few scenes where it is really prevelant they are getting at stereotypical ED in ballerinas.

Hallelujah - I’m not crazy! I thought I was the only person in the world who hated orange juice! How is the Jillian DVD? I’ve been thinking of getting one but wasn’t sure if it was worth it or not. I saw Black Swan and left feeling a bit disturbed, but it really was a good movie.

That French toast is fabulous, isn’t it? I loved it. And I loved Black Swan too. I’ve been talking to Joey and my family about it and trying to figure everything out but we haven’t come to any conclusions!! I had the day off so cookies, almond butter and stew were made plus I finally went to a yoga class and loved it. Going back tomorrow!

I keep going back and forth on my conclusion - I actually called my mom after to tell her, “I don’t even know what to tell you right now.”

I’m going to make some cookies today too! The husband is out!

I hadn’t heard great things about Black Swan, but you made me want to see it again!
The best part of my day was going through all of my undergrad classes, determining prereqs & sort of mapping out a game plan for grad school…seems strange that was the best part, but it’s just exciting that I’m going back to school.
[I enjoyed reading about your day.]

LOL at the OJ - that would drive me CRAZY! I can’t stand having 2 of the same thing open at the same time, I always have to finish one first…gah.

I wasn’t the slightest bit interested in Black Swan until everyone started talking about it. Now I really want to see it! Badly.

Level 2 of The Shred is brutal! I maintain that its way harder than level 3.

I lurve orange juice. I’m a teacher, too, and I have a glass everyday before school to ward off the germs. =) On another note, I own the Jillian Michaels DVD, but have never once done the workout. It reduced my husband to a whimpering mass, so I’m a little scared to give it a try.
