I never thought I would be writing this post right now. The term “caffeine free”, also associated with “no coffee” scares the living daylights out of me. However, if you all remember, I did mention to you the other day that I had not had coffee in 3 days (making it 6 now).
There’s a reason for all this madness.
I’m totally not pregnant – but my sister is! Today is the first official day I am actually “allowed” to shout to the world that I’m going to be an auntie! This little peanut is going to make his/her (I’m thinking “his”) way into our lives on September 16. I’m so excited.
Anyways, that was fun right? I always love the pregnancy scares with you all. It makes my life fun.
No coffee?
Right – that’s why we’re here now.
Let me start off by telling you that I have been a faithful coffee drinker for almost four years now. Ever since I was a junior in college and I had my own apartment, I would make coffee every single morning to get my day going. It wasn’t a want – it was a neeeeed. In fact, I really don’t remember a day in the last four years of my life that I missed having my morning cup. I always had one – no matter where I was, coffee was there too.
But lately every morning around 10 or 11, I have been getting an acidic stomachache that makes me not very happy. I get sharp pains, I get bloated, and I’m pretty much uncomfortable until around dinner time when the bloating ::passes::. Not so much fun for me – or others around me.
I had been going back and forth with two ideas on what could be making my stomach hurt every day. It was either the coffee or the peanut butter. I prayed to GOD it was not the peanut butter. Now that is one thing I could not bear to live without.
Let’s review the foods my body hates:
1. Gluten
2. Corn
3. Dairy
and now…
4. Coffee
Over the last week, I kept a “diary” of sorts each day attempting to capture how I was feeling each day.
Friday: First day with no coffee. I tried warm lemon/ginger water this morning. I am not feeling the ginger. Not only did my institute day feel like it was never going to end, but my head was pounding from an hour after I woke up until now, before I’m going to bed. I crashed and took an hour nap when I got home from school (can’t remember the last time that happened). I miss coffee. No stomachache today.
Saturday: It wasn’t quite as hard getting out of bed this morning. Perhaps it was because I knew I didn’t have to work. I drank more lemon/ginger water this morning. Still hating the ginger. I definitely feel like it’s “cleaning” me out more than the coffee did, but only time will tell. I didn’t have a stomachache today – I’m afraid my worst dreams are becoming a reality. I still have a pounding headache.
Sunday: Okay, I seriously do not like ginger. No more ginger in my water for me – it’s not making me happy. Neither is this headache that is still plaguing me. I took another nap today. My eyes felt so heavy. It feels good not to be dependent on the coffee each morning, but I still miss it. Stomachache? Nada.
Monday: First day of real teaching since I have been without coffee. I. hated. my. life. Even when the kids were talking using “inside” voices, I felt like they were screaming. I think I told them to be quiet about 230932049810398 times today. My head was pounding, my ears hurt, and I almost feel like I’m coming down with something. I’m glad I was never an addict to anything else – I’m almost hallucinating without my cup of coffee. I’m so not exaggerating.
Tuesday: Unexpected day off of school today! I started my day with lemon water (sans ginger) and then went back to sleep once I found out about the gas leak in the building at work. I slept until 8 (woah!) and then took a nap again around 1. No headache – and still… no stomachache.
Wednesday: I just realized that I have not had a headache all day even though I was dealing with the kids all day. I’m more than certain my stomach problems were related to the coffee. It makes me really sad, but at least the lemons are pretty.
Someone should probably send reinforcements over here – the poor Husband never knew what hit him when my crabbiness exploded.
Until further notice, I’m on the lemon water bandwagon.
I’m also considering throwing myself into the Looney Bin.
As of right now, I’m counting my blessings it wasn’t the peanut butter.
Question: Are you a coffee drinker?

Congrats on figuring out what has been upsetting your tummy. SO SORRY that it’s coffee!
They say we crave our allergens…yeah, I know.
Gluten, Dairy, Coffee, I can relate. So far tho, I just deal with the coffee issues b/c i love it that much.
Congrats to your sister!!!!!
Congrats on becoming an Aunt! That is so exciting! Is this your first neice/nephew?
Nope. I’ve never been a coffee drinker and never plan to becoming one.
I’m glad that you are feeling better!
xoxo
Kathleen
I have a niece and a nephew who are my brother in law’s children from a previous relationship. So this one is the first “real” baby in the family!
My sister has been having the same problem, she’s cut out coffee and its making her stomach feel much better. Thankfully i don’t have that problem because i dont think i can function without coffee in the morning
I didn’t think I would be able to either.
I am not a coffee drinker and never have been
But I am glad you figured out what it was….sorry if that is horrible for ya!? I wish you the best, and lemon water is amazing! I put a drop of lemon and lim essential oils in my water and it makes it taste oh so good! p.s. I blogged/linked to your giveaway last night- hope I win!!
Congratulations to your sister!
Have you ever heard of Teeccino? They make herbal coffee replacements that taste like the real thing and you even get to brew it like regular coffee (I know a lot of people giving up coffee miss the morning ritual, so no worries of that with teeccino!)
You can also get them in teabags and brew them like you would tea.
THAT IS AMAZING!!!!
It is, it’s a fantastic coffee replacement! It’s a bit hard to locate in stores, but I think you can order it from the website or possibly on amazon!
I definitely thought you were pregnant at first. I’m sad, because you are the cutest (and my favorite) veggie and would make such a cute little pregnant gal!! Congrats to your sis!
You are so brave! I have the same problem with coffee, but I’m not brave enough to cut it out. Folgers makes a special kind, I forget what it’s called, but it’s supposed to be more gentle on your stomach, and I’ve been buying that. It helps a little I guess. Good luck!
I am SO sensitive to caffeine lately. Yesterday I had a cup of what I *thought* was decaf coffee and felt light headed all.day.long. and I was so wound up and anxious. It was not good.
Congrats on being an aunt! I have a nephew that is 4, and he’s such a cutie (but I’m a bit impartial. LOL) I used to not be a coffee drinker, but about 4 years ago, I started drinking it, and have been a daily coffee drinker. I think I have actually gone a day without it, but those days are pretty rare! I have thought about giving it up, but that’s about as far as it’s gone.
I’m not a coffee drinker but I do now that caffiene can cause a lot of tummy troubles. My stomach bugs me anytime I drink black tea.
I’m also really sensitive to coffee. I drink it on occasion, but it usually upsets my stomach and makes me really jittery. I tolerate black tea a little better, but not much. I go through phases of drinking a little bit of caffeine or drinking none at all. I like to have herbal use herbal tea with lemon, so I can still enjoy something warm from a mug in the morning.
Huge coffee drinker! I can’t start my day without it!
I just bought some Teecino, herbal caffeine-free coffee! When I try it, I’ll let you know how it is
P.S- How did you realize your body hated corn?
My natural care doctor does nutrition response testing. Corn wasn’t flying with me.
a. Glad you figured out what was bothering you.
b. Glad you figured out that it wasn’t anything serious - medically speaking.
c. REALLY glad it wasn’t peanut butter
and d. I’m sorry you can’t have coffee :[
I can tell when I overdo it on the caffeine. More than a cup or two in the morning and I get heartburn and panic because I’m paranoid I’m having a heart-attack
Congrats on becoming an auntie! So exciting! I am the only “kid” in my family who is married, so it will definitely be awhile before I get to have a niece or nephew!
I am a MAJOR coffee drinker, but only because I LOVE the taste of coffee and the morning ritual. I’ve given it up before just because I thought, “Hey, maybe I should try going without coffee” and it had ZERO effect on me. My students think I’m “addicted” to coffee because I’m always drinking it in the morning periods, but it’s really just because I love the way it tastes
I’m sorry that you think you have to give it up though!
I love the way it tastes too. I love it so much.
I’m so happy you pushed through the worst of it! I hate the water with ginger too… lemon water all the way!
Thanks for all your great advice Leanne!
I went through the whole experience of giving coffe up last year. I realized it was causing my UTIs and that it must go. I’ve been a happy camper since I gave it up (except for that first week, of course). This headache will pass and you’ll feel good again.
That was such a cruel joke.
I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Ahhh congrats girl!! I love hearing about babies:) You have to help her decorate the baby’s room so we can hear all about ittt
Slash when I was in middle school I was ADDICTED to caffeine. It was so bad, I had to have my coffee every morning or I actually didn’t function. Now I have been clean for years:)
I seriously think I would cry if I had to give up coffee. I start most days with tea, but bring in the soldiers (aka dunkin’ donuts coffee) at some point in the morning at work. It’s like one of those comforting habits I just can’t give up!
You totally had me. I thought you were pregnant when I saw your post pop up in my reader! Haha, congrats on becoming an aunt! And sorry for your coffee loss, I’ve never been a drinker, can’t stand the taste!
Dang, you really had me going! Sorry about the coffee :/ Sucks to give up a food or food group you really love, but hey, if the body doesnt work with it…what can you do?
Congrats on becoming an auntie! Have you tried green tea as a replacement for coffee? It still contains caffeine but has many other health benefits.
oh you totally had my pysched!!! ahh! LOL! But I am so happy for your sis. And the coffee thing happend to me for a while. I switched to Kombucha first thing in the morning. That helped. Then slowly added coffee back in.
I’m hoping I just need to get it out of my system and enjoy it on some days!
It will pass. The headaches go first…the tiredness lasts longer.
*promise*
You’re a teacher and you’re giving up caffeine in the morning? Brave, brave woman. I’ve weaned myself down to a can of diet coke in the morning (okay, and sometimes one with dinner), but no one’s in a happy place in the morning if Mrs. S hasn’t been caffeinated. Good luck.
Yeah, this Mrs. S is kind of a crab monster too.
I don’t need coffee every morning, but it helps, and I really enjoy it. I probably drink it 5 or 6 mornings each week, but I drink tea on others days - I love yogi ginger & lemon tea.
First? You are so cruel. And I love it. You totally get your readers. We seemingly love the idea of a little you.
Second- I went through this…it lasted about three weeks. Get used to your bed girl..it’s all good..you will feel better. I live to tell the tale. Keep doing the guest posts….wordless posts…whatever. You are tired!
I love lemon water in the AM…energizes you in a weird way huh? Try adding some Raw apple cider vinegar, if you want. Has to be raw by the way.
PLEASE drink it with a straw and rinse liverally after. PLease. My $3000.00 dental “treatment plan” in order to fix my smile will be a word of caution. Not all the damage came from the lemon juice but within a week a stain appeared on my enamel eroded teeth.
You’re too pretty. Straw please!
Thanks for the tip! I don’t want a huge bill!!!!
For Real! Straw…rinse…
I used to really love coffee…then I became obsessed with iced coffee. Now I can rarely drink the hot stuff. But either way, hot or cold, the coffee that I’ve been brewing at home is just blehhhhh. It’s Starbucks, so I feel like it should taste good, especially since I like their store-brewed coffee. Weird. Anywho, bananas, one of my faaaaaaaaaaave fruits, gives me those same symptoms sometimes. It’s awful! Why can’t it be like, cow liver or something gross that does this do us
bananas? How odd! Have you tried cleaning your coffee maker lately? There can be build up which can really affect how your coffee tastes!
really? I never considered that!! I will fo sho give it a shot cause coffee out all the time is a hit to the wallet. Thanks!!
Aaaaah you totally tricked me! Totally thought you were preggo.
Congrats on being an aunt!
I feel you on the no coffee thing. I gave it up about a month ago (because we are trying to get pregnant!) and the first two days without it were TORTURE. Seriously. Now I’m used to it, but do enjoy a cup of Kaffree Roma in the morning (roasted grain beverage) that tastes like watered down coffee. I used the term “enjoy” loosely.
GOOD LUCK on the baby makin’!!!
Chelsey, I love your blog!! I was curious though, are you lactose intolerant or does your body just not do dairy? And I’m sorry about the coffee
I’ve never been diagnosed lactose intolerant, but my body really hates me when I eat dairy. My stomach starts rolling immediately! The only thing I can tolerate is greek yogurt.
You had me fooled once again! I should have known not to believe it.
But congrats to your sister! That’s super exciting for you guys!
I am a coffee junkie! I never use to drink it before but now my body craves for it. So horrible
BOO for no coffee! But you’re right- at least it wasn’t the peanut butter, thank the Lord.
I gave up coffee about a year ago for the exact same reason!! I LOVED coffee and needed it every single morning. But I developed really bad acid reflux and the coffee was literally making me sick. So I stopped. I thought the world would end but I actually got through it.
And I personally love not needing it to wake up. I’m into the herbal teas now. Sometimes I do have decaf because I love the smell taste of coffee. So, let me tell you, it gets better. Good luck!
And congrats to your sister; how exciting!!
I had a cup of coffee every morning for 7 years, but last month gave it up! I’m now on the lemon water bandwagon too and feel GREAT. I love not relying on the caffeine, but I do miss the flavor!
Congrats on being an aunt, not congrats on the coffee. You don’t do tea?
Congrats on being an Aunt! That’s so exciting.
I’ve never been a coffee drinker, but I LOVE lemon water in the morning! It’s such a good start to the day.
I am such a coffee drinker! I used to be really bad, like 3 cups per day but I am back to 1 cup per day and plan to keep it there. I do experience weeks here and there that my body really doesn’t like coffee, so I’ll drink decaf green tea for a few weeks and then head back to coffee and I am fine. Perhaps you are having the same issue?
I hope so! I’m going to try it out - although I’m kind of an all or nothing girl!
Okay I just got really excited cause I thought you were pregnant! haha. I actually don’t like coffee, and I gave up soda because of the calories/aspartame a few years ago- so I am usually okay on the caffeine front. Hope it helps your tummy!
Can really really empathize with you. Trying to switch from semi-healthy diet to raw vegan diet and trying to get the coffee monkey off my back. Some things that have been helping me get through it…I keep a huge glass of water by my bedside and as soon as I wake up, I start chugging. i drink a smoothie as soon as I get up, not a big one Just some vega mixed with water. I bring my husband coffee in bed. If I get a huge urge I have a tiny sip. I am so full of all the other liquids, and any addictions are hard to break cold turkey, so essentially I have gone from 2-3, sometimes more, cups a day to maybe a tiny sip, and maybe not if I am feeling strong. Also my headaches are gone, but if I do get one I squeeze between my thumb and pointer, HARD. this almost always makes all but my worst(migraine) headaches go away. anyway this may or may not help, telling someone whom is trying to quit drinking coffee to have a little sip probably sounds like a little evil voice in your ear.I just think we have to be kind to our bodies, and caffeine is a drug like any other so cold turkey is pretty rough. If nothing else, take heart that there are others out here in torment
Thanks for all the tips! I love doing the pressure points in between my thumb and pointer finger. That’s one of my favorite tricks!! I never take medicine for headaches, so it’s an instant cure!
Congrats to your sister! I am a coffee drinker…just one cup a day, and I’m good to go. Sometimes I’ll drink tea instead, but it is rare. Too much coffee and I get the shakes though!
Totally thought you were prego!
caffeine is major addicting…keep up the good work! It will e so worth it!
That really sucks about the coffee
I’m sorry!!! I drink coffee basically every morning. I don’t THINK I’m addicted to it… until I have a morning without coffee… and then I’m dragging
lucky for me, we have all the free coffee in the world at work ,so I stay well caffeinated!!!
I’m definitely not a coffee drinker! I know that I would become addicted and, well, I don’t want that.
Congrats to your sister on the pregnancy! You’re going to be an AUNT!! So exciting!
Wow, you are stronger than I am! A few weeks ago I tried to give up coffee and replace it with caffeinated tea, I experienced all the same stuff you did until my wonderful husband ran out and got me a latte! But to be honest I haven’t had coffee since Sunday but I have had a lot of Matcha (I know it is good for you but I don’t know if I am really doing all that good cutting the caffeine addiction:) Hopefully, cutting that down will be somewhat easier. I am glad to see that you are starting to feel better!
Good luck Alyssa! I’m an all or nothing kind of girl - so it’s no coffee at all for me.
I am an aunt and a coffee drinker and I love being both!
I went to a doctor who told me my stomache issues were related to coffee and that I should drink Teechino instead (which, by the way, is NOT coffee and doesn’t taste like it AT ALL). I got a new doctor.
Congrats to your sister! What a sneaky fake-out : ) I totally know what you mean about the coffee addiction - it is SO hard to beat! I’ve weaned myself off & I still allow myself some on occasion, but I find it’s a slippery slope & I start craving it again INSTANTLY! You gotta be careful with that stuff!
Congrats to your sister and you!!! It’s so fun to have a little one around.
Coffee does the SAME thing to me. Luckily I never really got addicted so it wasn’t so hard to cut it out of my diet. I still have a cup every once in a while…but having it every morning makes things…uncomfortable. Glad to know I’m not the only one though!
Congrats to your sister!! I was so ready to congratulate you when I saw the ultrasound pic!!!
Ah, I don’t know what I’d do without coffee! Awesome job for sticking to your guns!!
Will you be a nearby or a far-away auntie? One of my sisters-in-law recently found out she’s preggo again and I am so excited to start baking her goodies for when she doesn’t want to cook
And, of course, playing with my new nephew/niece.
Do you read Peas and Thank You? Mama Pea recently went off coffee and did a post about the process and how she weaned herself off the bean. Herbal tea is your friend
Good luck!
Congrats on becoming an auntie! That’s such exciting news…in the more depressing department, it’s too bad that coffee seems to be the culprit of your tummy issues. What a bummer…but hey, maybe you could try switching to tea and that would soothe your morning cup o’ joe withdrawals? I am a coffee drinker, and I went several weeks without it on a detox I did a month ago or so. I found that the thing I missed most about coffee was not the caffeine, but it was just the ritual of having something warm with my breakfast. Having a full-bodied tea helped me immensely in that respect (although I’ve since gone back to coffee…I just adore the taste!).
Seriously?!?!? I got all excited when I saw the sonogram and was like yayyyy! Haha you’re so funny. I give you props for trying to go coffee free! I go some days with it, some days without it. I hope you start feeling better soon
Sorry - okay not really.
I thought it would be fun!
Ahhh I got so excited and thought you were preggo!! haha congrats to your sister though! And good luck with going caffeine-free. Hopefully it will be easier than you expect..?!
YAY for being an aunt again!! SO exciting!! I did think your were pregnant actually with that picture!!
I have so much admiration for you right now. I love coffee, so good luck with that!!
Hooray for being an aunt!!!
I’m off coffee right now because of pregnancy, but the transition was, surprisingly, not that bad. I would think you should be out of the no-coffee hangover by now… so hopefully it’ll continue to go up for you!
Congrats on being a soon to be mommy! I’m pretty much out of the “dark days” with my withdrawal!
Awww, congrats to your sister!! You are going to LOVE being an aunt.
Try the teeccino, it has a little spice taste but really does taste like coffee. I found it at my local health food store. The ginger in your water, I use a microplane and grate it into the water, let sit and strain it out. I also bruise some spearmint leaves and toss those in as well. The ginger is wonderful for digestion.
Oh you tease! You had me bouncing with anticipation thinking you were announcing a pregnancy of your own! LOL One day you will announce it and I will be SO happy! I’m so happy right now for your sis though and congrats to being an auntie.
I have recently cut back my coffee consumption from 3-4 cups a day to 1 a week if that I feel so much better, more energy and no bloating! Its crazy show much coffee can affect your body.
I love coffee, but it’t not an every day thing for me. Actually, caffeine doesn’t do ANYTHING for me, except maybe cause a head ache if I have too much. But I do like the way coffee tastes, so I treat myself to it once a week or so
Good luck with surviving without it! Have you tried any teas yet?
I’m not really a “tea” person - I like drinking my detox tea every other night, but that’s about it!
Never been a coffee drinker…always used sugar to “wake” me up or keep me going. Don’t drink soda and stick mostly to caffeine free teas when I do have them. Water has been my best friend for as long as I can remember! Good luck with the caffeine detox!
Congrats on becoming an aunt!!! That’s exciting.
I’m a coffee drinker and I’m not really looking at giving it up right now, but I am looking at changing how I drink it. 1 tbs of creamer has 5 grams of sugar!!!
HAHA, thank goodness it wasn’t the peanut butter - lol, so true, so true!
I -am- a coffee drinker, but not everyday. Like, I will only drink it if I need it. So, super early mornings, all nighters, etc. which happens quite frequently as the term approaches the end.
dang! your body dont like a lot of stuff!! CONGRATS to your sister!! i totally thought you were going to be pregnant!
I’m a MAD CRAZY coffee drinker. I drinks tons of it! I can’t imagine having to go without it. Although I think often how I should..stomach aches and I don’t like depending on something. Maybe one day…one day:)
Yay for being an auntie!
I’m going to be an auntie again soon too
I love it because as much as I am not ready for kids, I love them so I get to play with my niece/take her out/spoil her, and then give her back when she gets tired or cranky!
Girl, you had my heart pumping when I saw that first picture! Haha! Congrats on being an aunt!
I’m so sorry it was the coffee…but at least it wasn’t PB!
I was a big time coffee/caffeine drinker. I cut it out of my life over a month ago. Since than I’ve had less headaches (except for a couple days with caffeine withdrawl) and am sleeping much better.
I’d like to say I don’t miss it but, I do! I miss the ritual of having coffee with my husband on weekend mornings. However, I’m starting to drink tea in place of coffee and I really like it!
I’ve noticed I haven’t been getting a pounding headache from when the caffeine wears off as well!
CONGRATS, Chelsey!!!!! So super excited for you and your family! I don’t know if it’s something in the water but it seems like 2011 is the year of LOTS of babies! And I LOVE coffee, but I wouldn’t say I’m addicted. I can go without it, but I usually don’t like to.
Congratulations on becoming an Auntie!! You will spoil them like crazy
That’s a bummer about your coffee but at least it wasn’t something else (like you said peanut butter!)
I also had to cut out coffee a couple years ago because I was getting really back acid reflux and it seemed as soon as the coffee was gone it stopped. I do have coffee from time to time I just don’t rely on it anymore like I used to. Good luck!
NO COFFE along with all of the other things?!?! I AM WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU!!! Guess what….I have NEVER had coffee, I know that sounds crazy but I feel like I have a lot more money because of it ha. My friends spend ridiculous amounts each week getting coffee and I am so happy that I haven’t ever gotten hooked….I probably spend more money on candy then they do on coffee though:( Have an amazing day gorgeous girl!
I was a big time coffee/caffeine drinker. I cut it out over a month ago. Since than I’ve had less headaches (except for a couple days with caffeine withdrawal) and am sleeping much better.

I don’t drink coffee, my body doesn’t agree with the caffeine. I drink green tea every morning.
Congrats on becoming an aunt
I drink decaf coffee occasionally, but I try to stay away from caffeine. It gives me headaches!
Your “preganancy scares” always make me laugh!
I don’t think I could function without coffee. At all so congratulations on a week without!
Have you tried caffeine-free coffee?
I’ve had caffeine free before - but I don’t think it’s the caffeine as much as the coffee!
Oh, and congatulations! Can’t believe I left that out of my last comment
I love my coffee too! Though coincidentally I also chose to give up the habit (for like the 5th time)…It wasn’t intentional. My husband accidentally bought me decaf-I took it as a sign to switch. I was prepared for the headaches because like I said this wasn’t my first time kickin’ it. Anyway, I switched to black tea and then weaned myself off of that. It was no simple task because there is such a ritual involved with coffee. I miss it, but not the control it had over me. Good for you!
Nope!! For the very same reason you’re not. Had a cup today and totally regretted it.
Girl, you really had me going there for a minute! Then I was like, “wait, she said she WASN’T preggers!” Lol
I’ve been a coffee drinker for years! On and off in college, where I discovered my love of froo-froo drinks from Starbucks, and now it is a daily MUST that I have one cup a day. I recently made the switch to 1/2 caff and it didn’t seem to affect me much, but I just love the taste of coffee! I don’t think I could ever give it up completely. Yesterday, I had a glass of warm lemon water with lemon instead of my coffee and I felt like a zombie all day. People at work kept asking me if I was sick or something! Haha! Guess I do kinda need it!
So sorry coffee and your tummy don’t get along, but at least you were able to pinpoint your source of discomfort so it can be avoided. Now, if only I could figure out what my system seems to be revolting against! :-/
The symptoms you were having are the same ones I’m having. I started drinking coffee again every day about 2 years ago but lately I’ve been feeling really bad. I’ve got really bad acid rflux - not sure how since we eat pretty healthy - and I think it’s affecting it. The doc said only 1-2 cups a day, but now I’m thinking I might just got it out for the next week or so to see if helps. I’m thinking tea needs to go too
I was having bad heartburn/acid reflux as well - not anymore!
Congrats on going coffee-free. I did for 21 days when I did the Daniel fast- which is a body cleanse of just fruit, veggies, and nuts. I had a pounding headache for 4 days but it got better and I felt TONS better.
Now 2 cups of water get me started in the morning! I feel soooo good all day long (I still have a midday Tea though
)
the best of luck to your “decaffeination process”
Congrats on your soon-to-be aunt status! All the best to your sister!
I used to be desperately addicted to coffee but slowly cut it down, managing to avoid headaches most of the time. Now I do drink very very small amounts of instant coffee, a half pinch in a mug of hot water, and it’s all I need. Mount Hagen makes an organic instant coffee which is very good. I also drink Cafix, made from barley, chicory, malt, figs and beets…really pleasant nutty taste (both are available from Amazon and Vitacost). I hot mug of either one is enough to put a smile on my face in the morning!
