the best things in life are free

March 9, 2011

Another day, another dollar.

The apple never falls far from the tree.

As slow as molasses.

If the shoe fits.

When the tough gets going, the going gets tough.

I’ve always loved common clichés and overly used phrases. It helps me… express myself and usually gives me a good laugh. Whatever your take may be on cheesy one liners being used in writing, there’s one thing I know about the granola I just sampled.

All things grow with love

March 5, 2011 047

I have been seeing Love Grown Granola around for the last few months, and I have been anxiously awaiting a chance to try it. Love Grown has recently gone nation-wide, but sadly none of the stores it is sold in is near my home. When Laura & the Love Grown team contacted me to ask if I wanted an opportunity to try their products (!!!!!), I jumped up and down like a five year old, regained my composure, and promptly replied with a YES!

March 5, 2011 050
There must have been love in the air that day because I was having a horrible day, and the email from Laura turned my mood around with her kind words and product opportunity. What can I say — I’m young and in love — with this granola.

Love Grown Granola is a Colorado based company that started small and is fast growing! They use all natural, gluten free ingredients — which makes me happy as a clam.

March 5, 2011 056

Love Grown has five different varieties, and I was sent three to try: Raisin Almond Crunch, Cocoa Goodness, and Sweet Cranberry Pecan.

I’m going to let the photo below speak for itself.

March 5, 2011 065
That would be Sweet Cranberry Pecan. Perfectly sweetened, clusters galore, with a copious amount of cranberries and coconut to round out this granola to make it my absolute favorite variety. There are two things I look for in a granola: one being clusters, the other being a lot of mix ins. This granola has it all. Chunks of lightly toasted pecans hiding in the midst of the other ingredients make for a decadent ending.

March 5, 2011 052

Some more food for thought — where else can you find whole almonds sticking to clusters in a  bag of granola?

I’ll be waiting for you answer….

Nothing? I didn’t think so.

 March 5, 2011 053

Raisin Almond Crunch doesn’t leave any room for guessing. It’s all there — raisins, almonds, and the clusters provide the crunch. The almonds are perfectly roasted and the flavors compliment each other perfectly. I cannot be trusted with this bag around. This stuff is going… going… gone.

After trying those two flavors, I thought to myself, “Okay Love Grown — can you top yourself?”

Meet Cocoa Goodness…

March 5, 2011 055

You’ll have to believe me when I tell you too much of a good thing — is a good thing. The clusters in this granola are out of control. This granola is lightly dusted with cocoa powder with mini chocolate chips hidden for a sweet surprise. It’s honest to goodness good stuff.

Check out these stats — you can’t go wrong.

March 5, 2011 057

You’re just going to have to act the fool when this package tells you a serving size is 1/4 cup though. It’s not going to happen. Just embrace this.

March 5, 2011 059

Would I buy this granola with my own hard earned money? You bet your life I would. This ain’t no puppy love folks — it’s the real deal.

When you go out and treat yourself to some Love Grown (and you should!), you’re not going to call my bluff.

Question: What’s your favorite one line saying and/or cliche?

Disclaimer: Love Grown Granola was kind enough to send me these complimentary samples to review. I was not compensated for my review on their products, and all opinions expressed are purely my own.

That granola looks amazing and I love the story behind the company. I am the worst at repeating lines I love correctly and my husband always asks me not to say them in public for that reason. It’s just embarrassing that I can’t get them right.

My husband always yells at me for saying “ridiculous”. It’s kind of a running joke.

oooh looks that granola looks delcious! I don’t have a fave saying but I have a least favorite: “distance makes the heart grow fonder.” I was in a distance relationship for a summer and hearing that did not help things!! :)

I know that phrase sure doesn’t help! Duh, right? :)

Reply

how funny in French we say “Loin des yeux, loin du coeur” which means totally the opposite. i have been on a long distance relationship and that one didn’t help neither…!

Currently it’s “Move it or lose it”. Partly because it always makes me laugh a little for some reason, partly because it’s a good mantra to have about this time of year…time to get moving, clearing out, cleaning up, getting things done that I’ve put off all winter.

I love the little clusters in granola (and also in Puppy Chow Chex Mix, but that’s a different story, haha).

My overused phrases? “C’est la vie,” “It takes all kinds to make the world go ’round…”

Overused words? Awkward. Weird. Creepin.
