as fate should have it (WINNER)

March 27, 2011

Patience is not something that runs in my family.

Yesterday afternoon, I received a text message from my sister stating that an ultrasound clinic offered a gender ultrasound at 15 weeks. Seeing as my sister was 15 weeks along in her pregnancy just yesterday, she had.to.have.that.ultrasound.RIGHT.NOW!!!! That girl doesn’t like surprises. She likes to plan more than I do. Which is funny because she was not like that when she was younger. She was a fly by the seat of her pants kind of girl. Not to mention she was also a bit (insert sarcasm here) rebellious. She was the challenging child — at least from my point of view.

She asked me to come along to the ultrasound with her and my brother-in-law. I believe my response was YESS!!!!!! Let me tell you, if you have never been to a prenatal ultrasound before, it is by far the most amazing thing I have ever seen. To hear the heartbeat, to see the baby flailing around (that child is going to be hurting her in a few weeks!),  and to already be able to make out its little features — I have no words. So, as fate would have it, it only seems right that my sister gets a taste of her own medicine while rearing her spawn, right?

It’s a girl! We had all been convinced (with the exception of my aunt) that it was a boy. You can imagine our surprise when the ultrasound technician told us, “it is 100% a female” and then proceeded to show us her girly parts. However, knowing the way the world works, my sister is going to get a girl who is just. like. me. And I’m going to get one just. like. her. (no, I’m not pregnant.)

This morning is all about surprises. I bet you all didn’t have much patience about this Larabar giveaway either. I know I have a lot of new subscribers because of this giveaway (HI!), and even if you didn’t win — don’t leave me. I promise we can still be friends. We can work it out.

The winner of the 65 mini Larabars is…

Maryea @ Happy Healthy Mama!

Congratulations Maryea! Email me with your mailing address and t-shirt size, so I can get your information shipped out to Erica @ Larabar!

:D yay for a girl!!! When my sister was pregnant with my niece, I actually had a dream it was a boy and my reaction in the dream was “I guess I’ll love it anyway” - That’s how badly I wanted her to have a girl! lol Now she’s pregnant again and this time I am rooting for a boy. Her appointment to find out is in two weeks and she asked me to go with her too! I can’t wait :)

Congrats to your sister! Coming from a family with three girls, I am a little biased… but little girls are just so much more fun to play with and dress up ;) .
