I love drinking. Like, really love drinking.
There’s nothing better than getting home from work, sitting on the couch, and popping the top off a cold one.
I used to be a sipper — but not anymore.
Now, I’m a chugger.
It just tastes so much better when it goes down fast.
And don’t even think about serving me a lukewarm drink — it better be cold, but no ice please.
I understand I can be a little bit hard to please — but for real, getting the drink right is the first step to success.
I never told you before because I was afraid I would be judged.
But water just tastes so good and so do green monsters.
You were about to call me a lush weren’t you? I knew where that was heading, and I didn’t like the sounds of it.
Yes, I do enjoy a nice adult beverage from time to time, but I try to keep close tabs on it. A nice glass of wine, a cold margarita — all good in my books.
But let’s be classy ladies (and gentlemen): because you don’t want to end up being “that” girl on her wedding day who has one too many drinky-poo’s and passes out on the way to the hotel.
Not that I would know or anything.
But for the record, that girl was a lot of fun.
Nah — I like to stick to the good ole H2O for the most part. Green monsters are also thoroughly enjoyed.
But do you want to know what really stinks about drinking green monsters? Drinking them without a straw.
Every single time I go to the store, I think in my head:
“I must buy straws — preferably the cool ones that have loops in them. Or perhaps the ones that are shaped like fun animals like leopards or koala bears.”
Then, I always forget to buy them, and my 5 year old inner-self is absolutely heartbroken.
Note to self: when you drink a green monster without a straw, just be prepared to have a green moustache for the rest of the day — or spill some on your shirt before you have to teach for the rest of the afternoon. Like I said, I like to stay classy.
It’s a vicious cycle — very vicious.
So when Glass Dharma contacted me about reviewing their products, I jumped at the chance.
Glass Dharma is an amazing company that makes glass straws. Not only are they absolutely gorgeous (have you ever heard a straw described as gorgeous?), but the story behind the company is so cool.
David Leonhardt (the owner), a glass blower, realized that part of the “plastic problem” in our world has a lot to do with straws. Seriously — have you ever thought about how many plastic straws fast food restaurants go through each day? A lot — millions in fact!
Do Leonhardt has decided to take this problem into his hands and change it — one straw at a time.
The straws come in a variety of different sizes, widths, and lengths. Each one is unique and perfect in its own way. I was sent four straws to try and review:
A Beautiful Bend, a red Decorative Dot, a Simple Elegance (with a wide diameter!) and a green Decorative Dot.
All of the straws are absolutely perfect. You know how when drinking a milkshake with a plastic straw, the straw will deflate and you can’t suck anything up? So annoying.
Have you ever tried to deflate glass? Yeah — I don’t think that happens.
Bring on those extra thick milkshakes folks!
While I loved all the straws, I’m pretty sure the bendable one was my favorite. I went to town on my green monster and pretended I was in a 1950’s soda shop sipping a root beer float at the counter.
Glass Dharma straws also come with cleaning tools, which are a lifesaver! I was also sent a Hemp straw holder, which is lovely.
