I have big news tonight.
Like really big news.
Such big news you won’t be able to contain yourself.
Are you ready?
Are you sure?
I don’t think you are.
In fact, I think I should wait until tomorrow to tell you the news.
Okay, I won’t do that.
The news is….
I’ve got a winner.
You thought I was going to say something else, didn’t you? Sorry if I disappointed you, but sometimes I like to be a little bit of a tease.
I know one person who won’t be disappointed though!
Congratulations Jaime! Go ahead and email me your mailing address so I can pass it along to the folks at Enjoy Life! I hope you enjoy your prize!

I thought I would mix things up tonight. Mainly because I’m exhausted — the last week of fifth grade will do that to you. Today we went sat in a circle and everyone said what their favorite part of fifth grade was — and one girl said.. “spending time with you”.
Then I lost it.
And had to regain composure.
But that’s not what this post is about.
This post is about lies.. and truths. It’s been a while since I played this game, and I know I have many newer readers (HI!) who may have not been around the first couple of times I did this. To get caught up on this game, you can read the following:
And here we go -
1. My mom didn’t think I was going to be smart. When I was little, I did not speak well and would rather play than learn my numbers and letters. (Truth: Thankfully my mother never told me this until I was an adult, otherwise I may have developed a complex.)
2. When I was in elementary school, I hated dodge ball. I would ask my gym teachers if I could sit out of the game because I was terrified of being pelted by a ball, no matter how soft it was. (Truth: I. Hate. Dodgeball. So. Much. The thought of balls being whipped at me makes me shudder in fear.)
3. I dipped my toes in about every sport possible when I was younger. Horseback riding, cheerleading, softball, basketball, volleyball, dance, gymnastics, swimming — you name it, I was in it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t good at any of them. (Lie: I was never a cheerleader. I never played basketball or softball!)
4. Two summers ago, my parents’ pool broke — like America’s Funniest Home Videos broke. Thankfully the pool was already closed for the season and nobody was in it, but water went everywhere! (Truth: Unfortunately, video footage is not available.)
Question: Which one is the lie?

4?!
This was hard, they all seem..reasonable?
Haha, you had me going!!! Okay, I think the 3rd one is the lie.
Why oh why, do we all want to see a clean eating baby? So weird, but I am glad you play on our fixation.
I am going with #3 …though I am never right.
I just assume you were good!
NUMBER ONE! Giiiiirl that would be awful if your mama thought you wouldn’t be smart!
I am going with 3!
Wellll, I hope #1 is a lie. I imagine you always being elequent and studious
lie is #1 i am thinking….
I’ll go with #1. And, do you happen to have #4 on video?!
They are all really realistic.. great job! I would say.. that #1 is the lie
I think #1 is the lie for sure!!
Ooo! Fun games. I’m gonna go withhhh…. #3. I can’t imagine you not being good at sports!
I’m going to say #2 - if you tried all sports when you were younger I’d have to think you at least semi enjoyed dodgeball
Ahhh, 3 truths and a lie is so much fun! I choose #4 for the lie. I don’t know why I chose it, but it just seemed to pop out to me. Am I right?!
Number One!
I am thinking its number one! Mothers always think their kids are smart no matter what LOL! Doesn’t seem like your mom would be that harsh
I’m gonna sayyyyy….
#1 because of the above commenter’s reason. Whoops.
Maybe #1?… and it’s okay if you liked to play, that’s how kids learn.
HAPPY LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL!!!! (and go write down your moment with your kids today! I love finding that small piece that reminds me of why I teach, especially on the tough days.)
#2 is the lie? But really I’m not sure! I’m one of your new readers!! Haha
# 4?
ahh I dont know I believe them all!
hmm tie between 1 and 3 buuut I’m thinking 3
I’m going to guess #3?
#2! or #3… they slightly contradict each other so it has to be 2 or 3. I’ll go with #3 because dodge ball can be terrifying.
I’m guessing the first one is the lie
I think #1 is a lie because you are so eloquent and I LOVE reading your blog. But still…… HOW DOES A POOL BREAK?????? if this is the truth, please do elaborate on another post I am very interested : )
I believe that #3 is 100% true (bold, right?), but I’m stuck on the others
I wanna say #1 is also true…so which is the lie Chelsey, 2 or 4!!! Do your parents even have a pool? haha…but dodgeball was kinda scary, especially with the boys - so I say #2 is the lie!
And by that I mean, I think #2 is a truth, so #4 is the lie…I’m tired - that’s my cue to go to bed after this reply!
I’m guessing #2! I can’t wait to see which one is right
I love three truths and a lie, I kind of want to play now!
I hope you enjoyed your last week of school!
i’m gonna go with number 2. i think you secretly loved dodgeball so much because you could get out all that pent up aggression and REALLY clobber anyone on the other team.
hehe, jk…but my pick is still number 2.
Hey, I’m new to your blog and I love it. Just bookmarked it. I would have to pick #1, although I would have to say this was a truth for me growing up. Not in bad way, I just wasn’t into learning as a little kid.
#2…..I know that you loved dodgeball.
I am SO bad at these!! Haha I got them wrong EVERY time before!
I’m gonna say #2 is the lie this time!
This is a fun idea. I like it! I’ll guess that the dodge ball one is a lie. I think you loved it, and were the class champion.
I’m going to go with number 3…. I feel like you are athletic and it probably started at a young age. I don’t know though, you are very good at this game!
I’m guessing #3! And so true the last week before summer break is brutal exhausting!
Number 3, I think. Obviously. No one likes dodgeball so it’s not that one!
Aww, that is so sweet about what your student said. It’s moments like that instance that must make teaching SO rewarding.
I think the lie is #1!
#1 for sure! There’s no way you didn’t speak well!
I’m thinking #1! I really can’t imagine you not speaking well when little!
I think… umm… #2 is a lie. This was hard!
Also, how cute is it that one of your students said that. Such a nice comment
I’m going with number one! Since you’re a teacher and you write a blog, I bet you were a smart kid!
Number 3??
If #2 is correct, I’m with you! Dodge ball sucks. How is having balls pelted at you FUN?!?
2!
I’m gonna go with #1. I know #3 is right!!
I think the fourth one’s the lie. *crosses fingers*
I’m guessing number 2!
Numberrrrr…. 3?
I’m not sure which one was the lie, but i did see your tweet about your coworkers discussing food blogs and you got nervous and didnt tell them about yours . I completely relate! Do your coworkers friend request you on facebook or find you on twitter? Mine do, and since my blog is linked to my facebook & twitter, they can view my blog. While I do want people to read my blog, it also makes me a little nervous. I’m just not sure how I feel about my coworkers being friends with me on facebook! My manager is even on facebook! What do you think??
I guess that #3 is the lie! I love this series!!!
I’m going to go with the first one! I know you are smart
because nobody else said it that i can see - number 2 is a lie!
