hair routine video blog

June 12, 2011

When I was younger, I really wanted to be an actress. I wanted to be famous and go to Hollywood to make movies. The furthest I got to my dream was junior high drama club and then one musical with a traveling Children’s Theater (the theater traveled, I didn’t).

Oh, and I can’t forget the time when I was the Virgin Mary in the Christmas Pageant in church. The choir director told my eight year old self there better not be any “hanky panky” with Joseph in the barn. No, I’m not joking Mom – she totally said that. Somehow, I lost my dream when I got to high school. I kind of regret not being involved in drama during my high school years, even though I would have had no time at all with my athletic activities.

Lucky for you, the other day I figured out I like being on camera. Not that my video blogs are acting per se, but it was bringing me back to my past.

Another reader asked me all about my hair routine – this video is shorter at only seven minutes. You’re welcome.

And no, my eyes are not closed the entire time.

If you want to fill the void because that video wasn’t long enough, you should watch this one. You’ll laugh – I actually did just that until I cried.

I really like doing video blogs – is there anything else you want to see more of? I would love to fulfill your dream. :)

Question: What is your favorite hair product?

First of all-LOVE Rusk. I used their products for a long time.

Also-I’ve heard that using the same shampoo/condition after a while leaves it to where it doesnt work as well. What do you or your momma think? :)

I don’t know what my mom thinks, but I agree! I switch it up! :)

Yay, so glad you did another one of these! You’re great on camera and talking about beauty stuff is just plain fun. :) Also that blowdrying trick with the sections is a great idea, I’ve gotta try that. My favorite hair product is actually coconut oil! I use it for conditioning treatments and for moisture in general because my hair is really dry.

Great video! My favorite hair product is a phomollient (sp?) from Aveda. It literally lasts forever and takes only one pump for my long, massive mane! I have naturally wavy/curly hair, so I put it on wet and it helps my curls come out and air dry that way!

oh i really enjoyed this! I was at the salon waiting for my sister yesterday and I saw a bunch of the sebastian stuff - good product, eh? Right now im obsessed with Moroccan oil….smells SO good and makes my hair silky feeling.

On the herbal essences - I hear you on wanting to use them, but when I was younger, I was really afraid of bees, and my mom told me that the strong scent in the shampoo/ on your hair will attract bees. So…needless to say, I didn’t ever want to use that brand! I used a lot of Aveda growing up, especially when it came to de-chlorinifying (?) my hair.

Hope you had a great weekend.

I love Enjoy! and Kiehl’s anything these days. And It’s a 10 LeaveIn Miracle Treatment. It really is a miracle!

My favorite hair product has to be Redken’s curl sculpting cream (or gel..I don’t remember). It does AMAZING things for my curly hair!!

You are so cute!!

Love your vlogs! I would love to be an actress just to get dressed in fabulous clothes and made-up to look like a star. Ahh that would be too much fun.

My favorite hair product? Dry shampoo lol. It’s saved me more times than I care to mention. Honestly, I’m not too fussy when it comes to my hair. I use an organic coconut shampoo and conditioner by Dessert Essences, I think? And that’s about it. Sometimes I’ll mousse it if I’m doing it up, but usually I just leave it as is.

Ugh - I love your hair. I’ve never used mousse because I thought it would give my hair that “crunchy” look (do you know what I’m talking about??) but CLEARLY that’s not the case if you use it! Thanks for the tips (and the link up!) :)

It won’t crunch! It will give your hair some style!

Ahhh, your accent is SO cute. I just kept saying “oh my god” as I was watching and Joey finally asked why I kept saying it and I told him it was because I loved your accent :) I wish I didn’t have to dry my hair. I just bought Aveda because I was sick of using crappy kind. I also just dropped my blow dryer in the toilet…

I love the video! My favorite hair product changes a lot. Right now it is the Garnier Fructis leave-in conditioner. My hair really needs it in the summer.

I really hate how most hair products leave my hair. I just use a shampoo bar from Lush, their Veganese conditioner, and sometimes moroccan oil or coconut oil in my hair.

I have wavy and POOFY hair.. so I sometimes use a curling cream when it’s wet and a anti-frizz when it’s dry. (It has to air dry or it is super-poof.) Most of the time I do nothing to it.

Your mom must rock!…. I love that you threw that part in there! My mom buys me hairspray to show me that she loves me; because I love my hairspray! She loves me so she buys me what I love…. Shhh, don’t tell her, but I’d love her even if she made me buy my own hairspray. :)
