Setting: CEC’s kitchen on Tuesday night. The Husband is rummaging around the pantry looking for food.
Husband: You know, I just thought I should tell you I really don’t like Cheez-Its.
CEC: Thanks for the update.
Husband: I’m not telling you this just for fun. You put Cheez-Its in my lunch for the last two days. I don’t like them.
CEC: Well, that’s rough. I didn’t pay for the Cheez-its. They were leftover from my classroom at the end of the year.
Husband: I don’t want to eat the Cheez-Its. I always give them to one of my guys (meaning a guy that works for him).
CEC: That’s nice of you. I bet he liked the Cheez-Its.
Husband: Yeah, he did. But I was still hungry at lunch today.
CEC: Well, the Cheez-Its wouldn’t have done you any good. They wouldn’t have filled you up anyways. You should have eaten the fruit and protein bar I gave you then.
Husband: WHAT!? I didn’t even see those? (looks through lunchbox) A cookie dough protein bar? Now I’m mad.
CEC: Sorry. Maybe if you cleaned your lunch box out more often, you would have found them.
Husband: What I’m really trying to tell you is that I want chips in my lunch tomorrow.
CEC: We don’t have chips.
Husband: Can you go get chips? I really want chips.
CEC: No.
Husband: Why not?
CEC: I’m not going to the grocery store. I’m challenging myself.
Husband: (looking annoyed) Well, you’re not challenging me. I want chips.
CEC: (obviously unphased) You’re not getting chips. I’m not going to the store before Friday. We’re using up all the food we have already.
Husband: I don’t see how this benefits me.
CEC: It probably doesn’t. But I’m not buying you chips.
The next day, CEC caves and goes the grocery store. She comes home with…

HAHAHAHA too funny!! I seriously wanna come live with you guys- such fun!
When you commeted saying you caved and went shopping I knew there would be a good CEC story behind it!
Oh girl - you don’t want to live with this. Believe me.
ahaha, I laughed out loud at the last part about it not benefiting him. Too funny. Oh, and also the fact that bananas and milk are the things I can’t go without, either. Practically everything else I can deal with…but going without bananas and milk would have just been cruel and unusual punishment.
Actually, don’t…that’s one less banana for you…
Give him a banana to replace the chips or something
That’s what I was thinking. No banana for him!
Glad you got your almond milk and banana fix! I remember that post from yesterday with you trying to stretch a banana til Friday
Yeah, that was pretty ridiculous, wasn’t it?
HA! sounds like my house but I always cave. Half of the shopping cart is healthy and half is crap for the guy! His fav are those mini apple pies.
I’m embarassed to even list the Husband’s favorite foods. Let’s just say they don’t belong on this blog.
hahaha that whole conversation was hilarious!
Hahahahah thats awesome…but I mean, c’mon…bananas > chips!
Ha! I think the important question here is, who doesn’t like cheez its???
Bahahaha that’s amazing! I hope that didn’t cause too many arguments. He should be happy you bought bananas, because honestly, how DO you live without them?! LIke any good husband, I’m sure he’ll learn to like cheez its lol
This is why I’m glad my husband gets his meals at work…I screamed for JOY when I heard this news!
No it didn’t. Because in reality, he didn’t even realize I went to the store.
Ahaha! I would have caved to gurl. I legit need a banana everyday. Excellent story
Hahahahahaha This conversation just made my morning! Sounds like one that would happen between my bf and I.
HAHAHA you just MADE my morning so much brighter
Ugh, unripe bananas are the WORST!!!
HAHAHAHA I love it!!!
You just made my day. Oh and btw, I was laughing out loud at damnyouautocorrect last night
. I think I annoyed my roommates while they were watching tv. Whoops haha
LOL!! Dang guys & their lunches!! So high maintenance.
hahhahaha!! love this!! he’s lucky you pack it for him!!
AMEN sister!
hahaha! I have this talk with my honey all the time! He loves Doritos, but I think they are just awful! Also, he frequently brings some of his lunch home and I find it the next morning when I pack his lunch again….beyond frustrating to have to throw out food because it sat overnight!!!!
Good for you for staying strong and not getting him chips!
That’s how it would have went down at my place too.
Great post.
hahaha, I love this! I can’t believe you pack his lunch every day. That’s really nice of you
It’s one of those wifely duties I guess I took on too early in the marriage. It used to be fun to pack up his lunch/make his breakfast - I spoiled him early on, and now I can’t get out of those chores.
Bahaha I love this! The way I look at it, if he wants it that bad he can go get them and pack his own lunch
The EVEN funnier part is that he went to the store that night to get ice cream… and he didn’t get chips.
Haha I can see why you NEEDED those items. I think I would be cracking for something similar. My boyfriend would definitely be wanting chips too though!
Love this. You made my morning.
Some things are just necessary.
Amond milk? Yes.
Chips?
No.
Nooch? Um….
Married life….oh, how fun.
too funny! i think it’s adorable you pack his lunch too!
Bahahahaha! I *LOVE* being married. THIS is why I love it; priceless conversations like this.
Bahahahahahahaha!
Haha!
I love this!
LOL!!!! That was the best. You need to post more of these
Oh I’ve got plenty.
hahha that’s awesome! i am the same way
Hahahahaha y’all are so funny!!!!!!
Haha, I love this conversation. And that you went to the store and returned with ketchup and not chips. So great. P.s. you are a fantastic writer!
Thanks Corey - that was such a sweet comment!
Ahahaha. That is hilarious! Sounds like my mom and dad sometimes
It’s sweet that you pack your husband’s lunch for him though.
Haha! This is too funny! Maybe now the hubs will eat the Cheeze-Its?
Nope - they’re gone! He pawns them off! I think he docks $1/hour from the guy who eats them.
Hahaha I love how ketchup is one of your necessities.
Ahh, that is too funny! I can imagine doing the same thing someday…
I make my bf’s breakfast every morning and pack his lunch too. Spoiled men! This looks like a convo I have with him. I’m not going to the g. store until Saturday so eat the food we have…too funny
Oh gosh, I love it
My response would probably been along the lines of a) what kind of crazy person doesn’t like Cheez-Its? and b) If you don’t like it, pack your own lunch, ha! For me it’s orange juice and apples. If I run out of either, I have to scuttle my plans because I just can’t go without them for a long time
ahahah lovee this!!
AHAHAHA! Poor guy…..all he wants is some chips
whose side are you on kaila?!!?
This post literally just made my day. Sounds like exactly the type of conversation my boyfriend and I would have. Oh goodness.
Hmmm, this didn’t resonate well with me. I hope that your husband doesn’t expect you to make his lunch and by him food. That convo wouldn’thave gone further than the first line which I would have said, “go by what you want and make what you want.”
haha - no. he doesn’t “expect” me to. It’s a role I took early on in the marriage. In fact, during our pre-marital counseling, we had to write down things that we could do for each other every day that would “fill our love tank” (so corny) - making his lunch was one of them. When he gets home from work, he still has to do more work until 10 or 11 since he is a business owner, and that’s one thing he doesn’t have to worry about because I’ll happily do it.
haha!! i do the same thing. I can’t stand having a ton of food in the fridge. it has to be used up first before going to the store. BUT my husband will come home with new stuff all of the time. I try to tell him that we need to use up what we have first.
This is the first post of yours I’ve ever read. I clicked your link off of one of Sweet Tooth Sweet Life’s comments. Hilarious! Can’t wait to read more!
Lol omg! This made me laugh!
aw poor hubby! Well he can buy his own chips can’t he?
Haha! Good story! I don’t know how husbands have such a hard time finding the things right in front of them…. Probably because they think that’s what wives are for!
I just think the male brain is waaay different than the female brain. We did a marriage series at my church, and one week was all about the differences between the way men and women think. Our brains are SO wired differently. He gave this analogy. Women’s brains are like spaghetti - everything can overlap and intertwine and everything can still get done. Men’s brains are like waffles - they compartmentalize and can’t do more than one thing at once. For days after that sermon, we called each other “spaghetti brains” and “waffle head”.
Just thought you should know, I literally laughed out loud. I was enjoying the story because it sounded *SO* much like myself and my boyfriend and by the time I got to the picture I was cracking up. It’s definitely something I would do, which is funny, since I’m a Chelsea too.
O poor hubby lol
Hahahaha! This is too funny! I thoroughly enjoyed it
Loving the purchases you chose at the grocery store
Haha!!!! You crack me up!
I probably would have gone to the store and gotten the same items!
HAHA! Someone was being a little (and by little i mean A LOT) STUBBORN!!
xo
Hahaha! Love it!
Hahahaha! Mean wife
LOL…I totally get this! My hubby asks for chips all the time and I refuse to buy them for him. I only buy him healthy-type snacks such as nuts or pretzels. If he wants chips that bad, he can go to the store himself
Haha, I smiled so much reading this
The two of you sounds like a auper cute couple!
Hahaha omg please post more of your conversations- this was amazing. I think he should realize how lucky he is that you pack his lunch!! And at least someone ate the cheese-its!
that’s hilarious. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of these husband/CEC conversations
Haha that’s great. Love the dialogue! and P.s. that is SO awesome that you make his lunch he should probably owe you a foot rub or something!
haha that’s a cute story!
I needed all three of your above items at the grocery store yesterday too! Ketchup is a rare one.. too bad they were out of the sugar-free variety, so I got the organic cheap one!
This post was amazing. And I can’t believe you pack his lunch. He should be grateful you do-chips or not! Marshall packs his own.. and he always puts a cookie dough larabar in there.
this is seriously hilarious..! i used to pack my boyfriend lunches and he did the same thing to me occasionally!!
Okay I just LOL’ed over here! That was wonderful! Haha, you run a tight ship for good reasons I’m sure.
However, with the guys in my life (ie: my brother and BF), I cannot say no if they express a craving to me! haha. I would be out on my way to Ralphs or whatnot the next day if I knew that’s what they were craving =x
You are very patient. When Hunni starts conversations this way I always ask, “what’s the point?” and then tell him to pack his own lunch if he doesn’t tell me up front.
But you did get almond milk. Boo yah!!!
I did - and my mom yelled at me for getting “my things” but not his. But in my defense, he went to the store that night to get ice cream… and didn’t come back with chips.
This just made me laugh out loud, you ROCK!
Funny, my hubby is on board the no chips thing so this sounds more like a conversation with my nine year old :p
ahahah! I do buy him chips every week though - so he was missing them!
This was a funny post! I just bought blue diamond almond milk for the first time ever last week and am now in love.
Hahahaha!! Hilarious!
