crunchy cookies (GIVEAWAY!)

June 27, 2011

I used to be THE cookie monster.

That blue monster didn’t have anything on me.

Oreos, E.L.F. Double Fudge, Girl Scout — you name it, I loved them. In fact, I am pretty sure my sister, brother, and I could put back a package of Oreos in two days flat. While we enjoyed this, my mother did not. Seeing as she was not the homemade cookie maker kind of mom (she once used peanut oil in brownies instead of canola oil — I love you Mom!), this was not so nice on her wallet.

I had given up on cookies in recent years. Not only are the ingredients pretty shady, but there aren’t a lot of gluten free options out there. Instead, I had to make my own — which is fine, but nothing tastes as good as a cookie straight out of the sleeve.

Which is why when Enjoy Life asked me to review their new crunchy cookies, I jumped at the opportunity to try some new products out.

Usually, I’m pretty wary of packaged cookies. I’m not a fan of their ingredients. They’re overly processed. But these cookies are the real deal.

As someone who does gluten free baking often, these are most of the ingredients I would use at home in my very own kitchen.

And speaking of kitchens, I’ve been in the Enjoy Life factory kitchen and watched them make their cookies — the factory is clean, the products are made in small batches, and the employees actually care about their customers. Oh yeah, and their products taste good too.

Tasting good is very important when you’re making products that are free of the top 8 allergens as well! These babies don’t have any of the following in their products:

  • wheat
  • dairy
  • peanuts
  • tree nuts
  • egg
  • soy
  • fish
  • shellfish

I’m glad these cookies don’t have fish in them — that would just be weird.

I was sent four flavors of cookies to try: Double Chocolate, Chocolate Chip, Sugar Crisp, and Honey Graham Vanilla.

All of the cookies live up to their “crunchy” factor quite nicely. The double chocolate flavor was the first cookie I tried, and I was blown away by the amount of chocolate chips they use for their cookies. More than one chocolate chip in each bite!

Chocolate chip had my eyes next. I loved Chips Ahoy! cookies when I was little, so I was hoping these lived up to that standard.

Believe it or not, these actually taste like a thinner version of Chips Ahoy! cookies — I’m basically sold on these guys.

As far as the Honey Graham Vanilla, I can see many s’mores in the future.

I know, right?

June 27, 2011 033
I can see these coming in handy for parents with kids who have a lot of allergies and can’t partake in s’mores making with the other kids. Not that I would whine about not being able to have s’mores around the campfire or anything…

And last but certainly not least, my favorite — Crunchy Sugar Crisp. Which really boggles my mind that this is my favorite as I don’t really like sugar cookies. I thought I was more of a chocolate kind of girl, but apparently my taste buds are changing.

Do you see all the sugar crystals? Me too. They’re so pretty.
