To read more about our Punta Cana adventures, you can start by reading:
I have mentioned this time and time again, but I am a total book nerd. There has never been a time in my life where I haven’t enjoyed reading — unless you count the days before I started school when I would rather “play” than “learn”. Watch out young tots, if you do this, your mom might think you won’t grow up to be a smart cookie. Well, this smart cookie proved her wrong.
I have always devoured books. I loved summer because that meant I could spent my afternoons reading in the confines of my own room getting lost in a story with characters and plots that were either far too close to what I was experiencing in my life at the moment or far too “out there” for me to even believe it could be a realistic story.
My favorite memory of reading has to be when I was in second grade. We were taking a spelling test, and I recall myself pulling my book out in between the words because my teacher was “going too slow”. When I got called out for it, I wanted to crawl under my desk and cry because well, I hated getting in trouble.
When I went on vacation last week, one of the most important things to me was being well equipped with reading material. I read a total of five books while I was gone — umm… someone needs to tell me to start living in the real world because that is just out of control. I was gone for 6 days.
Thankfully my mom let me borrow her Kindle (and then got me one for my birthday!!) for while I was gone so I didn’t have to lug around 20 pounds of books.
Some of the books I read were on my Summer Reading List, but some weren’t — here we go!

I heard about this book from Jenna a few weeks ago. I immediately ordered it off of Amazon so I could read it soon. I absolutely loved it. It was hard for me to get into, but then once I got into the storyline and was acquainted with the characters, I could not put it down. One thing I loved about this was it went back and forth through time between two different love stories — I love books like that! This is a must read.

Another great read! Fragile by Lisa Unger almost made it onto my summer reading list, but for some reason I left it off. When I saw it on my mom’s kindle, I started reading it right away. This book was suspenseful and kept you guessing the entire way through. I also enjoyed how Unger weaved different perspectives into the entire story. I loved this book.

Seriously, one good book after another. Before I Go to Sleep was my favorite out of all the books I read last week. It is about a woman who is an amnesiac and every morning wakes up forgetting everything — kind of like “50 First Dates” but not at all like it. This book is so suspenseful that I literally grabbed onto the Husband while we were waiting in the airport on the way home because I couldn’t take it!

I have to come out and say it — this book was just downright weird. While I liked the overall message the book had to offer, I could do without the incestuous thoughts and the oversexed plot. Seriously, every page there was something new like that going on. No thanks. And I am not quite sure what the “sweet relief of missing children” is — is there any relief? Maybe if they’re not your own? I don’t know — I kind of didn’t get it.
Long Drive Home was a shorter novel — and it was also very fast paced. There was no downtime and on the first page the plot had thickened. I enjoyed that about this story — I didn’t like how it left me hanging at the end. I would still recommend reading it though!
This is the part where you tell me to stop reading and get a life.
No thanks. I now have a kindle I need to fill up!
Question: What was the last good book you read?
