7 links

July 27, 2011

A few days ago, my lovely friend (and we can’t forget NYC Tour Guide) Gabriela tagged me in the “7 links” challenge. Yesterday, Laura tagged me as well!

This was a great exercise to examine my blog, reflect on what has been written in the last 13 months, and think about what I want to write in the future. Not to mention I came across some really great recipes I had forgotten about!

THE GOAL

To unite bloggers (from all sectors) in a joint endeavor to share lessons learned and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again.

THE RULES

1) Blogger is nominated to take part

2) Blogger publishes his/her 7 links on his/her blog — 1 link (or more if you’re me!) for each category.

3) Blogger nominates up to 5 more bloggers to take part.

4) These bloggers publish their 7 links and nominate another 5 more bloggers

5) And so it goes on!

* * *

- Most Beautiful:

- Most Popular: Pumpkin Maple Quinoa Granola —> And YES, it is amazing. Lucky Kristin just bid $125 on a batch of it to help raise money for The Great Fundraising Act. $125!!! I was blown away! I’m sure you heard the grand total was over $26K!! Absolutely astonishing — I still get goose bumps thinking about it.

- Most Controversial: Oh, I love controversy too much to choose just one!

  • Little Girl, Fat Talk —> A post that looks at how we are raising our girls/daughters these days. It will make you think twice the next time you open your mouth around an impressionable young lady.
  • Scale Slave —> My struggles with giving up the scale, and how doing so only brought me more peace.

- Most Helpful: If I Only Knew —> This post has many helpful tips for new bloggers!

- Post Whose Success Surprised You:

  • Birth Control Disaster —> A discussion on my experience using birth control pills, and why I will never use them again.
  • Water Bottle PSA —> A self discovery on the link between water bottle bacteria and stomach issues (and yes, I am still stomachache free because of it!)

- Post That Didn’t Receive Enough Success: Negative Effects of Stress —> Written when my blog was just a baby, this post examined how stress overtook my life a few years ago!

- Post That You Are Most Proud Of:

I really put myself out there with those posts, and while they were well received, I think EVERYONE should read them just one more time. Everyone struggles with insecurities about something!

The Bloggers I am Tagging:

  1. Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun
  2. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is
  3. Janae @ Hungry Runner Girl
  4. Katie @ Yes, I Want Cake
  5. Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries

Question: What was a favorite post you have read lately? (It does not have to be one of mine!)

I just posted my 7 links post yesterday. It was SO much fun to do! To go thru all the old posts and re-live my life from when I wrote those posts. Memory lane stuff :)

I am not surprised that the b.c. pills post was controversial! I remember it and i wouldnt really say it was controversial just as much as it was honest. Which is awesome!

And those talkin crack bars…off to drool over that link now :)

I remember all of those posts of yours :D It’s always nice to go back and see some of the past stuff you wrote about. It makes me sad to think that so much good stuff is buried and forgotten! One of the best posts I read lately was Susan’s reaction to how much money was raised at the auction. Omigosh. So heart-warming to see so many people come together for someone in need. Love it.

Yay, thanks, Lady! And I just read your ‘birth control disaster’ post and can totally relate! It made me the WORST, grumpiest person ever. And I got migraines once a month, which I had never in my life had before. SO I stopped using it after only a few months…and back to normal! Wheee!

Hey Chelsea! I love all of your posts - especially when you include dialogue of you and husband, which I can totally picture going down around my place too.

As for my favourite post, I loved reading all of Janetha’s and Susan’s posts after The Great Fundraising Act. Also - was sooo awesome to see your item go for so much!
