It’s time to get real around here.

There are some things in my life that are big and voluptuous.

My hair, for one — I have never had to worry about my hair being thin and brittle. My oats. My oats are big and voluptuous thanks to an overnight trick I love and adore. And if you want to talk about big things, let’s talk about zucchini for a moment. Not only have I picked one zucchini the size of a newborn baby, but three in the last week. That’s some good stuff right there.

I would be lying if I told you that my chest was big and voluptuous. In fact, the only large breasts around here are in the freezer for the Husband’s dinner.

Being a part of the itty bitty club doesn’t bother me. In fact, most of the time I would rather it be that way. There’s nothing more annoying than having your chest get in the way when you are trying to do daily activities — not that I would know or anything. It works out well, actually. My back doesn’t hurt because of a large front load, the girls don’t bounce (at all) during physical activity. I can sleep on my stomach without feeling like I’m crushing my womanhood to smithereens.

During normal, every day activities (aka when I’m wearing a normal bra), I don’t feel so bad about my situation. Victoria has some secret, and she makes the girls look good no matter what — unless I’m not wearing a different bra because, let’s face it: I can only afford one VS bra at a time.

But then, there are times when I exercise and wear a sports bra. And since I’m being honest here, if I’m not wearing pajamas, I’m in workout clothes far more than I probably should be. Wearing a sports bra is a bit of a problem for me. You see, the girls (or lack thereof) get squished. I didn’t think there was anything to squish, but apparently there is. Which means I end up looking like a 12 year old girl who got impatient and stuffed her bra with not one, but two tissues. Or, if I’m lucky and my hair is slicked back due to infrequent washing or incessant sweating at the gym, I look like a boy. Perfect.

Luckily, there’s hope for me.

When the folks over at Handful Bra sent me one of their bras that are meant to “flatter not flatten”, I about squealed in excitement due to the great things I have heard already about the product. The bra (which doesn’t necessarily have to be a sports bra) comes with removable pads (for those lucky people out there who don’t need them), and has thin, criss-cross straps in the back.

It is probably the most comfortable bra I have ever worn. It is supportive, flattering, and well, it lives up to its tagline. It doesn’t flatten. It looks good, makes me feel good, and I doubt I will ever buy a different sports bra again.

It also comes in a mesh bag, which should be used for washing! There’s nothing worse than criss-cross straps getting stuck around the middle of a washing machine.

No worries lady, for a small girl (or even for a not small girl), my girls are prey large. Even they get flattened in a sports bra! I’d totally want a black one. I have plenty of pink bras already! And mesh bag for washing? Twisted bra straps are the story of my life!

Hey! I’ve subscribed to your blog through google reader and for color I would go with black.

FYI I’m a Canadian resident so I don’t know if this giveaway is open for us neighbors up north. But thanks for posting about the Handful Bra. I’m the same way in that when I wear a sports bra, the girls become non-existant! The one I recently bought that works for me is the Victoria’s Secret VSX bra. I think it may be discontinued though

I have to pick the PINK one—the padding makes it nice so dark colors aren’t mandatory! I need a bra that doesn’t flatten- when most places tell you your size is in the juniors dept flattening is a BIG no-no! Way to represent the itty bitty committee

I always feel at such a disadvantage for giveaways b/c I don’t tweet or use twitter or use Facebook beyond it’s most basic function, BUT I did look at the website, and I would have to say pink because there is no reason to have a boring sports bra. i would have to go with a nude one! nude bras work under everything, especially white, and it is the easiest color bra to have because you never have to worry about it with ANYTHING!

Thanks so much for sharing this. Sports bras are one thing that make me extremely self conscious because I am a member of the itty bitty club too. I love finding new sports bras to wear that don’t make me so flat! I love the nude too, I’ve never seen a nude sports bra. Thanks again!

I love the black. I love working out in head to toe black ,regardless of temperature. And I definitely would want the black one - so versatile. And goodness knows I need all the help I can get - sports bras make me look like a 12 year old too, and I have enough issues with people thinking I’m 18 instead of 25 without adding in the super flat sports bra chest.

Why have I never heard of this bra? I’m a charter member of the itty bitty club - I was small before kids and then after nursing two for a long time I’m near non existent now. I totally get the 12 year old look comment….

I recently found a padded sports bra on clearance at Old Navy and snapped it up, lamenting that there was only one to buy. I really deserve this bra….

Oh - I’d like black. Really I’d take any color, as long as there is padding.
