totally truthful thursday (video blog)

September 8, 2011

Today’s post is inspired by Colleen at the Lunchbox Diaries. She does “Totally Truthful Thursdays” about ramblings that go on in her mind — she lays it all out. Today, I did the same. Oh, and don’t mind my crazy face before you start the video. That’s what I normally look like.

Question: What would be on your “Totally Truthful Thursday” list today?

Loved this!!! :D I used to work at a preschool, I totally get what you mean about students ruining names. I always picture certain kids when I hear a name.

Big smile on my face now :) I was just making fun of my husband for the amazon one click checkout he does… Not that I’ll be making fun of you, but you bringing it up reminded me of the huz. Good times.

You can make fun of me. I won’t hold it against you.

this is hilarious….. I know exactly what you mean about having a bad experience with a kid and it ruins the name! ah! It actually happened this summer with my #1 favorite name… hopefully by the time i’m 30 I can get over it. We’ll see.

Lauren September 8, 2011 at 7:10 pm

Haha you are too cute!! I am the exact same way with the online shopping. I’ve started to memorize my credit card number….not good!

Reply

Missy September 8, 2011 at 7:16 pm

I’ll never do it again.
My best friend was Chelsea so I am SURE I have done it.
However — I actually always called her Chels — you okay with that? That will eliminate the problem for me. LOL.

I love this. Please do again. Pleeze?

PS- At least you are sending on sales, right?

I always think the same thing about not being able to give my future kids the same name as a former student!

Reply

Amanda @ .running with spoons. September 8, 2011 at 7:27 pm

My confession for this totally truthful Thursday would be that there have been a few times where I’ve almost spelled your name with an -ea instead of an -ey. Thankfully I caught myself in time >:D

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey September 8, 2011 at 7:38 pm

It’s okay - I still would have loved you!! haha!

Lindsay@ In Sweetness and In Health September 8, 2011 at 7:56 pm

Omg can I just say that I think I smiled throughout that whole vlog? You are adorable :D . And I get all of those shopping emails everyday and it is so hard for me to say no to things! Since I currently have no income however, then I have to be a good little girl haha. And I can’t believe people have spelled your name wrong!! That is too funny

Reply

lindsay September 8, 2011 at 8:25 pm

people spell our name wrong all the time, right linz?!

Reply

lindsay September 8, 2011 at 8:24 pm

i say chels. Its just easier. People call me linz all the time but always spell my name ey instead of ay. But thats totally cool. I understand. haha.

Love this CHELS!!!!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey September 8, 2011 at 8:29 pm

:) You’re too funny - I had so many “lindsay” friends when I was younger - all spelled a different way “lindsey”, “lindsay”, “lyndsey”, and “lyndsay” - REALLYY?!?!

Reply

lindsay September 8, 2011 at 8:36 pm

and don’t forget lyndzie. haha. We’re so complicated.

I had a smile on my face the WHOLE time I was watching this! And since you were talking about names - thank you for pronouncing mine CORRECTLY. Ca-leen. Yes! Now you’ve inspired me to do another Totally Truthful Thursday video blog :) Ah! I loved this!

How do people usually pronounce your name? I can’t imagine any other way!!

Reply

Colleen @ The Lunchbox Diaries September 8, 2011 at 8:30 pm

Co-leen and kaleen (pronounced really fast). Oh, I’ll mention it in my next vlog :)

Reply

Loved, loved loved getting to hear you talk!! It’s neat to listen to your accent - feel like I know you a little better. You’d probably laugh at my country accent if you heard it..maybe I’ll do one of these soon.

Reply

Leila @ Spinach and Skittles September 8, 2011 at 9:11 pm

Haha whenever I see someone spell your name wrong I laugh, too. I have a friend named Chelsey, and her facebook posts often have replies addressing her as Chelsea. It drives me nuts…her name is right there!

Reply

Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles September 8, 2011 at 9:14 pm

I KNOW!!! I am so afraid that my name will be forever tainted by an experience with a student. I will never be able to have an Emily, Dalton, or Tyler. Not that they were at the top of my list but they will be forever tied to those students….. Oh the price of being a teacher. :)
Online shopping. I KNOW! The husband shudders when he sees the UPS truck pull up. “What did you buy now????!!!?!?” (Julie runs in house and hides…)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey September 9, 2011 at 5:40 am

haha - thankfully the UPS man is here when the Husband is not…

Jayme @ Runner-n-Spice September 8, 2011 at 9:27 pm

Chelsey, I can relate. Oh boy, can I relate. My name is spelt Ja”y”me, instead of the jamie / jaime versions. Beyond my name frequently being spelt wrong (which I laugh at too), I regularly get emails from people at work (who haven’t seen me) addressing me as Mr. All you can do is laugh! :)

Loved the vlog!

Reply

Well, JaYme, I’m sorry but it’s kind of funny that they address you as a Mr. I’m glad you have a good sense of humor!

I don’t have a huge problem with my name but I do have to deal with Kelley or Kelli on occasion. To me, Kelly is just the normal way to spell my name and I don’t even think about it any other way!

P.S. You are too cute! :-D

Lara @TresLaLa September 8, 2011 at 11:45 pm

I got in trouble tonight for buying too much stuff - this came as my husband was handing me an Amazon package. Yikes. At least people don’t mispronounce your name all the time, though! I have people spelling it incorrectly (Laura instead of Lara) and pronouncing it either as Laura or as Lay-rah. It’s La-ra, like you’re singing! So my big pet peeve is if I’ve already corrected someone once, and they still mispronounce it!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey September 9, 2011 at 5:43 am

You should be a spokesperson for Larabars - there’s not too many Lara’s out there!

Joey and I just watched this and when you said “it’s written under my picture,” we both said “it’s above it!” and pointed, ha ha. Love Groupon and Living Social! My sister is Colleen and she gets it mis-pronounced all.the.time. Lots of “Co-leens.”

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey September 9, 2011 at 5:43 am

haha yes - it is written above it. And I love that you guys watched it together. That makes me smile.

i can imagine how you would feel having your name spelled wrong, yeah its totally hilarious cuz its right at the top and all over really. even when im posting this i see that on the bottom right corner your name is there where the copyright is.

people always call me your name when i tell them in person. they never hear “Kelsey”.. they think i said “Chelsey” lol sometimes i just go with it ;)

xoxo <3

Oh my goodness, Amazon one click will be the death of me! I always justify it when I buy books, obviously book shouldn’t count toward my budget. They’re a necessity. Just like the food processor I just bought. And the tripod for my camera. And no one ever spells my name right! Did you always get disappointed when all the personalized things in stores never existed with your properly spelled name on them? I got lucky once in awhile, but my boyfriend’s name is Jerome and they NEVER have his.

Too cute!

char @ char on a mission September 9, 2011 at 7:14 am

You’re right…this WAS funny! I thought you were gonna say for the children’s name thing that you’re afraid a student of yours will have one of the names you like and then you won’t use it - because for me, if I hear a kid with the name I want for my kid (because it’s a different name - not weird different, but cool different), then I won’t wanna use it because someone else already has it. Yes, I realize I’m super weird!

As for the online shopping…I agree with you. It’s too easy!!!

hahaha chelsey, you’re so cute. and I have the SAME. PROBLEMS. with my name, especially since I went by “Aly” in high school and college. there’s just too many ways to spell that sucker.

and have you used ebates to shop online?! do it.

or don’t, cause you’re trying to cut back on that habit. I should too… maybe.

maybe.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey September 9, 2011 at 11:43 am

Yes, I have used Ebates!

I’m a really visual person so it is really weird to me how someone can spell a name right when entering a URL and then start to leave a comment or send an email for example, and suddenly spell it wrong again. Once I’ve seen a word spelled one way I always spell it that way. But others have different learning styles so that’s what makes us all unique and interesting! But yes that one boggles my mind too! Thanks for the vlog! :)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey September 9, 2011 at 3:27 pm

Well a lot of people google “clean eating chelsea” - like a LOT!!

Thanks Amy - and oh my gosh, was that post hilarious. Now, the real question is - is her name still pronounced like Leila? Because if it’s not, her Husband gets the worst husband of the year award! hahaa!

Reply

Chelsey September 18, 2011 at 1:52 pm

I’m brand new to your blog & I just had to comment on this :) As a fellow “ey” Chelsey, I can’t tell ya how much I relate! I have relatives that will send me birthday cards that have “Chelsea” written on them - they’ve been doing it my whole life & I’m 23, so you think at some point they’d have figured it out haha The best is when someone writes on my Facebook wall with the misspelling…like you said about your blog, you’re like “uhh hello? My name is right in front of you! oh well” The funny thing is, though, my parents spelled my name this way for the exact same reason! My mom liked it because it was the name of a character in On Golden Pond (no idea what this movie’s about ha), but when her friend came to visit in the hospital, she looked at my name bracelet and said “Chel-see-uh..that’s different..is that Italian?” so she changed it! :D
