fun facts friday – the friday edition

September 30, 2011

1. I did 100 squats on Tuesday. Why? Julie did it last week, and silly me thought it sounded like fun. On Wednesday, I could easily walk and squat and do all sorts of leaps through the air (because that’s how I normally saunter around). On Thursday, I could barely move. It was bad. Did I mention I had to run 9 miles today? Yikes.

2. I’m always all “oh look at me, I’m a neat freak! I like a clean house. I put up my nose at a sink full of dirty dishes. I make the Husband make the bed at 9 PM some days.” What I fail to tell you is that my car and my purse are atrocious. Like, seriously and legitimately disgusting. Wrappers. Garbage. Starbuck’s cups (in the car,  not the purse). This drives the Husband bonkers. Part of me thinks I am subconsciously doing it because his office clutter drives me bonkers. Another part of me thinks I just don’t care if my car is clean.

3. I don’t know about you, but when I go into a long run, I always go in thinking, “meh, 9 miles isn’t that long.” Um, I’m here to tell you folks that it really is that long. Whoever came up with that thought process was a sick sick fool.

4. Some things I thought on my run today: “I only have to do this 3 mile loop 3 times.” “I wonder if the Husband took the garbage out today.” “My massage tomorrow is going to feel so so good.” “Who thought of hummus? Whoever they were, they were a genius.” “I wonder if these people think I’m crazy because I have ran past them three times now.”

5. My hands are officially orange from all of my sweet potato and pumpkin consumption. I decided to lower it down a notch and eat a white potato today.

6. I am taking my 10 year old niece out for a girls’ afternoon out for her birthday, which was on Monday. We’re going out for lunch and shopping – Exciting!

7. It’s about to be a wild Friday night up in here. I’m catching up on all the good ones – Modern Family, The Middle, and Up All Night. I might even read a few new pages of my new book, Chasing Amanda.

8. Did anyone else want to kill their sinuses today? I could barely drive this morning the pressure was so intense. Then, I felt really wonky all morning. I hope that’s not a precursor of things to come!

9. I ran my 9 miles in 1 hour and 18 minutes today, which is um…. faster than I ran my 8 miles last week. Who am I?

10. Happy Friday.

I’ve always found that pushing through a run really helps recover from the whole can’t-walk-thing a la lunges. Do you feel better now?!

I do feel better! We’ll see how I feel in the morning.

Fun Facts Friday is a great idea! I have purple tinted hands have made beet n chocolate muffins 2 DAYS AGO! Orange would be a welcome change! I have my little 3 year old niece tomo for the night, I thought I had a few more years until she was in to shopping but she proved me wrong as she dragged me round the shop the other day picking out matching PJs, socks and slippers for her sleepover! Happy Friday!

I can honestly agree with almost everything on here.
1. Sometimes I get sore the day after too! It’s like it takes a little bit to process how much we really worked ourselves, weird.
2. I had a white potato for dinner tonight too because I have been out of control with pumpkin. I’m pretty sure I had pumpkin oatmeal way too many times even though it was 97 degrees out.
3. My purse is the worst. I have 971 gum wrappers and old receipts and a bunch of junk and carry it around like I have so much important stuff in it. When in reality it just is a big purse of junk.
4. I love who created hummus.
Congrats on your 9 miles!!

Congrats on your 9 miler! WOOHOO! Good start to your weekend.

I went for a massage today. Went to one of those student institutes that are WAYYY cheaper. By goly why haven’t I been going to these all of my life?! So much cheaper. Yet just as good. I’m officially hooked.

It always takes that extra day for a really intense workout to catch up with me. It’s like my body is saying, “Haha. Gotcha. You thought your strength workout was all fancy. Well now you can’t walk or lift your arms above your head. Take that, crazy.”

My Friday night? Watching a “best of SNL in the 90s” thingy on VH1. Gosh I’m so cool.

Christina September 30, 2011 at 7:15 pm

Watching Modern Family now. Love this show! Still need to catch up on The Middle. And Up All Night is amazing! Do you watch Happy Endings? It’s pretty funny.

Awesome time on the run! My old car used to be a mess, always. Now I have a brand new one and I can’t stand when it gets messy!

Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga September 30, 2011 at 7:47 pm

congrats on that FAST running, wow!!

“Um, I’m here to tell you folks that it really is that long. ” <- YES!!!

which is why i am always amazed at all these bloggers/runners who get up and crank out 10 miles a day or that 8 miles is their "short" day or similar stories. I can run for about 30-45 minutes before I think to myself, gosh, how much longer…which is why I don't race anymore and if I do, I don't "train". I wing it and show up on race day and run my race at whatever pace happens.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey September 30, 2011 at 7:54 pm

Yeah, I definitely could NOT pull out runs like that every day!

Reply

Lauren September 30, 2011 at 8:05 pm

Haha my purse and car are so gross too but I come across as the biggest NEAT FREAK alive. It’s like Monica’s “closet” on that one episode of Friends. Dirty little secrets. ;)

congrats on the great time for your run! I’m jealous, my knees hurt me so much after my run yesterday that I’m going to have to put off my 7 mile run this weekend… I was so excited too because I’ve never run that far. oh well, better to lay off it now than injure myself worse! haha and I love the things you think when running! haha I like to imagine the people around me dancing to the music i’m listening to… it’s pretty amusing.

Reply

Totally agree! If my legs still hurt really bad, I would not have done it!

I do squats with my kids at school— we count by 10′s and go to 500 (mandatory) if you’re tough you hand in and finish down to 0 with Mrs. H….. I usually don’t get any takers. What’s the deal?!?! ;)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey October 1, 2011 at 6:39 am

Are you for real?

Reply

Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles October 2, 2011 at 12:18 am

Heavens yes I’m for real!!! :) We do morning exercises and talk about how our muscles, heart rate, and breathing are all tied together. Pretty sure my class could tell you the science behind muscle fatigue. We exercise like that every morning, it helps them learn so much better and we have some fun!

1.) You are hysterical.
2.) I wish you could tell my father about your car because mine is always neat and he seems to think that it’s a disaster. This is because he is OCD about cars.
3.) Modern Family rules.
