as if i didn’t already love fall enough

October 1, 2011

Rabbit, Rabbit!

Happy October 1st, the month where I officially make the world slow down just a little bit because this year is going by too fast. As if I didn’t already love fall enough, October is always such a fun month, full of fall activities. The air is crisp and there is always something fun to do. Before we get to October, you know what we have to do? Review my goals from September!

Count to 10 Before I React: I don’t know if I actually counted to 10 every time, but I definitely was much more mindful of my reactions to situations that usually leave me frustrated and/or angry. I bit my tongue a LOT this month.

Tell the Husband something I appreciate about him every day: Again, I was much more mindful to tell him thank you for things he did for me this month!

Practice yoga once a week: I missed one hot yoga class on a Saturday this month, but made up for it by practicing at home that weekend. I <3 me some hot yoga!

Overall I think I did pretty well on my goals for September! Now, today I’m not feeling very serious in the goal area right now, so how about some things I would like to do this October?

1. Eat a lot of pumpkin (obviously).

2. Carve a pumpkin for Halloween.

n22914138_35872890_7923[1] picture circa 2007 (!!!) – and I still wear that sweatshirt

3. Complete this craft.

4. Go hiking at Starved Rock with my mom (maybe next weekend, Mom?)

5. Resist the urge to buy three pairs of new boots.

source

6. Make my grocery money last and not use my own personal money for food! (This has been happening a lot lately!)

7. Use the credit card at a bare minimum!

Question: What are some things you want to do this October?

Your first goal of September looks a lot like my main goal for October. I’m definitely going to put the “pick your battles” mindset to use this month. I like the idea of counting to 10 before reacting as well, though I should probably make it more like 60 seconds :p

Happy October!

Those boots look so cosy! I would say they’re worth charging to the card ;) ! One of my main October goals is to stock to my training plan to run 10 miles. Even though it has to been done on the treadmill (way too hot here), I’ve never been more pumped and determined!

Fall is my favorite time of the year as well! I especially love the weather, and having a lot of pumpkin doesn’t hurt either. LOL

Love the “FALL” decorations! Very cute idea!

I definitely want to try to watch my spending in October. Not a very fun goal, but the holidays will be here before we know it!

Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers October 1, 2011 at 8:47 am

Good Ones! I want to eat loads of pumpkin, drink plenty Oktoberfest beers, watch as many Clemson games as I can, and do more yoga. Good luck to us and our awesome plans.

Thank you for linking to that craft - I just enjoyed scrolling through a bunch of her crafts! Such cool ideas. And I don’t usually like uggs but I love those boots! I’m going to try not to spend tooo much on a fall wardrobe this year and of course eat all the seasonal goodies! I really want to start doing yoga a bit more often as well.

Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health October 1, 2011 at 8:57 am

That craft looks really cute!! And I would totally still wear that sweatshirt…actually I do still wear sweatshirts that I’ve had for like 5 years :) . I definitely want to do something “fally” this October- go to a festival, go apple picking, make something, etc.

Katie @ Peace Love and Oats October 1, 2011 at 8:58 am

Haha I actually put my new goals on my blog today! But one of mine is to go apple picking, so if you know of any good places around Chicago, I’ll take recommendations!

I love this fall post! I have been eating way too much pumpkin already that I’m afraid I’ll be sick of it soon. I want to carve a pumpkin (and bake some pumpkin seeds) and will have to resist the urge to buy more boots too! I also want to try to slow down and enjoy everything more. I graduate grad school in December and feel that I am trying to rush time. I don’t want to regret missing out on anything.

Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun October 1, 2011 at 9:04 am

October is my absolute favorite month! I want to carve a pumpkin, go to a pumpkin patch, go trick or treating with the kiddos, perhaps apple picking, eat lots of pumpkin (duh!), and throw M a birthday party…which I should probably get on the invites for that since its in 3 weeks. Ha!

Christina @ The Athletarian October 1, 2011 at 9:14 am

I don’t know how you’re going to resist buying boots! That is my ultimate fall weakness! My goals for October include fitting in at least 2 lower body and 2 upper body strength raining sessions per week! Sounds like a lot but I’m getting sick of feeling and looking weak!

Jenn October 1, 2011 at 9:45 am

I really would like October to go by slowly. I would like to enjoy this month because I’m getting married on the 29th.

Also, unlike you, I’ll be using my charge card a lot this month. I figured may as well rack up all the points/ cash back I can and just charge every that I need for the wedding. Got to love free money for an expense I was already going to be paying for.

Go to bed before 10 a.m. on every school night! I get up early to work out, so it’s really important that I get to bed at night.

I think you should totally go against number five and BUY THOSE BOOTS!!!

char @ char on a mission October 1, 2011 at 3:14 pm

Ooo, I like these goals, except for the boot one. Everyone needs new boots right? My goals are SO unorganized in my brain right now…not a good start haha. But one is definitely homework and studying are my FIRST priority…as much as I’d like it to be baking. That will unfortunately comes in second. Unless I absolutely had NO food in the house and only baking supplies to survive, then I’m sure chem and stats could wait!

Maria @ Beautiful Busy Bee October 1, 2011 at 3:55 pm

I like the counting to 10 thing!!! And I seriously need to adopt that habit. That craft looks amazing, too! :) I’m going to eat tons of pumpkin too. And I want to add recipes to my blog.
