fun facts friday – better late than never

October 14, 2011

1. You know the woman Polly from the movie Along Came Polly? Well, if you’ve never seen the movie, she always loses her keys and her boyfriend gives her this alarm system so she will be able to find them easily. I neeed one of those. I never really "lose" my keys, but I can never find them in my purse. It makes for quite a scene when I frantically dump everything out of my purse onto the ground in a parking lot until they are right where I left them - in my purse.

2. I am finally going apple picking on Sunday - I haven’t been in two whole years. I’m going to come home with about 30 pounds of apples, and then you’re going to hate me because I’m going to put apples in everything again. Sorry I’m not sorry.

3. I got a wonderful package from the lovely Lindsay yesterday. Somehow it came up that I had just thrown away a pair of socks because they had holes in them - so, low and behold - she sent me socks! :) Among other great goodies. Thanks, Lindsay!

4. Go check out Vegetarian Spotlight Magazine — I am October’s guest editor! I was honored to share a little knowledge about a gluten free lifestyle with Veg Spotlight readers. And if you are here because of my editorial, welcome!

5. Today I thought I ran 10 miles in 1 hour and 22 minutes. I was all like “woah, that’s a ridiculous pace — 8:12? There’s no way I ran that fast.” Annnd then I realized I was right. Because I remapped my route and it turned out to be 9.5 miles instead. And then I was all like, “woah, that’s a ridiculous pace — 8:37?” I’ll take it, considering all of the 30 mph winds that were all up in my face the entire run.

6. I can’t wait to make these in the morning. I’ll be the first to admit that getting up on a Saturday morning is never rough for me knowing that I will be eating breakfast soon.

7. Have you entered my Primal Spirit Strips giveaway yet? You have until Sunday night to enter!

8. I’m wearing my new Victoria’s Secret yoga pants that I just got yesterday because I had a coupon. I think I have created a monster. They are the coziest pants I have ever owned in my entire life.

9. Things I thought about on my run today:

  • I’m hungry
  • I want to get home and make dinner
  • Sometimes I wish Charlie wasn’t a spaz dog and could handle running more than three miles
  • I can’t wait to catch up on my shows tonight
  • Do people really go out on Friday nights?
  • I want butternut squash
  • This wind is absolutely freaking ridiculous.
  • Belt it out, Maroon Five.
  • Where can I get a woman’s Uncle Sam costume for Halloween?

10. I can’t wait to go to Trader Joe’s and Costco tomorrow. Big party animal, right here.

Those thoughts are very similar to ones I have when I run. ha! Somehow I’m always wanting food. :) Trader Joe’s and Costco sounds like an amazing party! :) Congrats on the guest editor gig! :) Have fun “partying”.

I made acorn squash tonight and it was delicious. I’m saving the other 1/2 for an afternoon treat tomorrow. I’m being LAME tonight and staying in…my excuse is that I’m going to yoga at 7:30 AM. HA! I had similar random thoughts today…I can’t get the “Moves Like Jagger” song out of my head. Have a good weekend!

Congrats on your guest editor spot!

love these posts! Where do you go apple picking? And where can I find orchards in IL that offer it?! I’ve never gone and it’s on my list of things to do this fall! I’m planning on going the first weekend in November b/c I’ll just be getting back to Chicago then.

I just got majorly upset that I left all my pancake goods at my house while I’m visiting my parents. Oh well, oats don’t seem to disappoint me anyway!

Enjoy Costco!

LOVE Smartwools. Mom’s bf gets them for me. I don’t buy them anymore since they’re wool, but I still wear the ones I had. And I’m going apple picking tomorrow, bring on the apple recipes!

Katie @ Peace Love and Oats October 14, 2011 at 7:35 pm

Ah! I’ve been dying to go to Costco! I don’t have my own card so I’m trying to convince my brother that he NEEDS to go! And awesome run pace! Oh, and I got those sweatpants a couple years ago (the MIZZOU ones) and I still wear them all the time even though they’re too big now. so. comfy.

cleaneatingchelsey October 14, 2011 at 7:38 pm

I borrow my mom’s card every few weeks - it’s amazing!

And I am going to email you about my doctor now. I guess that one got lost in the inbox!

Can’t wait for some new apple recipes! I have about 20 lbs in my fridge and I keep doing the same things with them - like slow cooker cinnamon apples, apple crisp and plain old apples.

You know what you should make with butternut squash? OhSheGlows Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese. It was totally uh…how do I put this lightly? AMAZING! Even my family who teases me for the way I eat said they want more of it! WOW! Who would have thought??? It’s a keeper. MMMMMM.

Congratulations on your awesome run!

In regards to numero uno; I was the same way! I tied a length of bright yellow hair ribbbon (about a foot and half long, so half that when it was tied in the middle) onto a key-ring of my keys. I swear, it was the smartest thing I did in all of 2010. I’m famous for frantically trying to find my keys as I’m running out the door, but not any more! The ribbon is long enough and bright enough that my keys can’t hide in my purse, on the counter under magazines or on the table amongst clutter any more.

“do people really go out on friday nights?” ha! i’m so with you on that one!
tomorrow whilst shopping at trader joe’s, i shall think of you and laugh. :)

Damn girl you are FAST! What did you end up doing with the apples the hubster got you?? I take it they are finished, or are you just stocking up before you’re faced with 0 left!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey October 15, 2011 at 6:01 am

They are all gone! They went straight into my stomach, into those mini apple pies, and into slow cooker apples.

I need one of those key systems too, especially at work. The school that I work in has gone a little key-security mental lately, but because I have always lived in the middle of nowhere where we rarely lock anything I’m so rubbish at looking after them! Stressful!

Nice run! 8:37 is super speedy!

I really want to get a pair of those pants! I hope they come in petite sizes though because otherwise pants are always miles too long on me. :P

I’m super excited about going to the farmer’s market and grocery store today too. It’s pretty much the highlight of my weekend hah! Have fun today!

My thoughts are so jumbled when I run. I like to think a quiet jog will calm my mind and give me peace, but that never happens. haha

Congrats on the guest editor thing. I’m going to check out that magazine’s site now!

I bought my mom one of those key alarms for Christmas one year because she always loses her keys too. It beeped when you clap. However, it kinda just beeps whenever any loud sharp noise happens, so when her keyring was in her bag (with the alarm on it), and things rustled around in there, it would just start randomly beeping…

We decided it wasn’t such a great buy after all :S
