I’m not really sure when the whole “love affair with ketchup” began in my life.
Believe it or not, I actually used to be a barbecue sauce kind of girl. I, in fact, hated the taste of ketchup. I somewhat believe this has something to do with the fact that my mom dislikes ketchup and my dad would much rather have barbecue sauce. Talk about brainwashing your children, right? All I wanted was to love on some ketchup, but the parental units wouldn’t be having it.
Thankfully, I got older and matured. Along with my maturation into adulthood, I developed a love for the condiment five year olds everywhere love on all of their entrees. In fact, I think it all happened around the time I started dating the Husband. Come Sundays, we would all gather around his parents’ dinner table for “Sunday Dinner” (quotations are needed because it’s 1 pm and therefore, lunch). Ketchup was always on the table — usually at the request of my now sister in law. Potatoes were also always a staple during this meal time.

So, I started putting the red stuff on everything. My love only grew as time went on… that is until, of course, I realized that having a corn intolerance means that high fructose corn syrup is out of the question. When you’ve grown up on Heinz, that can become a problem rather quickly.
I started scoping out different options a few years ago, and thankfully, many companies make organic ketchup — my kind of product!
Muir Glen Organics sent me a bottle of their ketchup, along with some more tomato goodies to test out and tell you about. Here’s what I have to tell you — it’s good. And what I love even more is seeing the photos below that they sent for my use.
I think something a lot of people don’t think about on a regular basis is exactly where their food comes from. Yes, we buy locally. Yes, we buy organically. But do you regularly picture the farmer or the laborer actually picking the vegetables and fruits you eat every day? Can you picture in your mind the hot field they walk through day in and day out to pick the best crops in? I don’t — but maybe I should. After seeing these pictures and the tomatoes that were picked so I could enjoy my ketchup every day, I am seriously grateful. Because let’s face it, I don’t want to live without ketchup.
I really enjoyed Muir Glen Organics ketchup because it is sweet like other ketchups on the market. I’ve tried a few other organic ketchups in my day, and as ridiculous as it sounds, they taste too “tomatoey”. Muir Glen Organics’ ketchup is sweet, tangy, and thick, which is exactly how I like my ketchup.

The only way my parents would get me to eat my vegetables when I was a kid was to put ketchup on them!! I still use ketchup on a lot, but I grew out of the vegetable phase!

Ummmm….where do I start. Brussel sprouts, salad, eggs, mixed in macaroni and cheese, you name it I have tried it. I even got a t-shirt one year for Christmas that said “I Eat Ketchup On My Ketchup!”

I like to eat ketchup on eggs, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, and pretty much any other vegetable.
I love ketchup on eggs but I’m luckily I’m learning that I’m not the only one
I love mixing ketchup with other flavors to create sauces - soy sauce, mayonnaise, brown sugar, bbq sauce, hoisin sauce, dijon mustard….I use whatever mixture I come up with and put it on chicken, pork, or vegetables!
There’s something about ketchup and cheese that I love. Ketchup and macaroni and cheese? Delicious. Grilled cheese dipped in ketchup? Perfect.
I put it on potato filled pierogies. So good!
I put Ketchup on tortilla española (Spanish tortilla), which is a staple in my house! Its great on its on, but even better with Ketchup
Pretzels, pickles, and potato chips. If it could be dipped, it was dipped. mmmmm.

okay, I have to tell you that it is absolutely AMAZING to know that I am not the only one obsessed with ketchup. I, unlike you, have been bred to be a ketchup lover from birth. My mom and I put it on everything (and I mean everything)…. to name just a few: salmon, any veggies, cottage cheese, popcorn (yes, you can dip popcorn in ketchup and it is deeeelicious), taters any and all forms, on top of rice, on beans… I have put ketchup on pretty much everything except for fruit. And now that my burden has been lifted from housing this secret life, I shall go tweet about your wonderful giveaway (and allow the rest of the world to know how much of a ketchup loving freak I am)

I don’t think I use ketchup for that many weird things, but I do love it on the usual things like burgers, dogs, fries, potatoes, etc. I had a friend in college who put in on everything, including as salad dressing! Love Muir Glen products too!
My weirdest thing would have to be… eggs! When I was young, I used to love it with spaghetti or rice as well (which doesn’t sound all that appetizing now!) But my favourite way to eat ketchup is definitely, hands down, with roasted potato wedges. Best!

I love ketchup so much that as a child, I got those darn pesky canker sores from eating too much of it. Beware acidic foods! I still had to have it on all my favorites though: potatoes, veggie burgers, scrambled eggs, AND mac and cheese (yes, it is STILL good!).

I love Muir Glen products! They have the best tasting marinara, and all of their tomato sauces have the best flavor! I don’t use a ton of ketchup, but I do like it with baked sweet potato fries and any form of regular potatoes. And eggs.

I’m a traditional ketchup user - nothing really weird myself. BUT, my cousin LOVES ketchup. Weirdest thing I’ve seen her put it on? White rice.
When I was traveling in Japan a few years ago, one of my favorite meals - I kid you not - was a rice and ketchup filled omelet omelet. As strange as it was for my American tastes, there was something very comfort food-like about it.

I can’t think of anything “unusual” that I put ketchup on! The first time I tried sweet potato fries (covered with cinnamon and sugar), I thought they would taste weird with ketchup, but I was SO wrong!

Must say: a lot of things just taste better with ketchup on top! I put it on potatoes, fries, veg burgers, sandwiches, pasta (!), Rice and sometimes as dip for vegtables (when i’m to lazy to make a ‘ real’ dip..) Oh and now i remember that i also eat ketchup with chips.. Reading this i think you can say that i eat a lot of ketchup…

haaaaaaaaa! i just laughed myself into stitches about your parenthesis comment about dinner at 1pm really being lunch! i come from an old school italian family, so sunday dinner, is, indeed, at 2pm! i’ve stopped correcting them with my “lunch” thoughts because it just doesn’t do a damn thing in my family. they’re convinced that it’s dinner.
but i’ll go home and have my european dinner at midnight regardless. 
i posted about “ketchup” on sunday. first off, it’s my favourite overused pun: “hey, let’s meet for lunch and ketchup on the details of our lives!” and i also love uma therman’s ketchup joke in “pulp fiction.” i’m glad that someone else who is healthy finds herself in a complete state of adoration of ketchup! OH ~ i’m a pittsburgh girl, and my great grandmother worked for heinz during wwii, so i feel compelled to shop heinz organic.

My weird way to eat ketchup is also my favorite snack of all time - I love to dip Doritos (original) in ketchup. I can nearly knock out a whole back of doritos that way!

I LOVE making “pigs in a blanket” (don’t hate, I’m from Iowa): Take 1 slice of bread and squirt (hate that word) a bit of mustard and ketchup on it. Mix around in a pretty design with a toothpick. Add 1 hotdog (diagnol) to bread. Wrap bread around hot dog and hold in place with 2 toothpicks. Broil until bread is nice and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. YUM!

Nothing too crazy here, I usually put ketchup on sweet potato fries (probably one of my favorite combinations. ever.) or on spicy homemade normal fries. I’ve been known to dip roasted brussels sprouts in ketchup a few times though.
Also someone in your comments said something about grilled cheese dipped in ketchup and good golly miss molly does that sound like the most delicious thing ever. I wish I had not already eaten dinner. That is certainly going on the menu for this week…
