thank god its wednesday (only second to friday)

November 9, 2011

I’m kind of sad.

You see, when I wake up in the morning to go work out, it’s really dark outside – as it should be seeing that it is only 4:15 in the morning. The sun starts to make its way into the house right around the time I am leaving for work in between 6:30 and 7:00.

But did you hear the news? The sun is setting much sooner than it has been lately. Something about Daylight Savings or something. I’m sure you’ve only noticed if you have opened up your Twitter feed, Facebook feed, or favorite blogs in the last three days. But just in case you’re not aware, that’s what’s going on.

You’re welcome.

Something else that makes me sad? The quality of the pictures on my really cool phone. Wouldn’t you think that a phone that has 3D capabilities (which I don’t use – unless I want to puke) would take great pictures? Yeah, not so much.

Peas and Crayons

Breakfast – 5:45 AM

Breakfast has been extra special these days – and no, it’s not because I have switched up what I have been eating in the last two months. It’s because I have been drinking my (now) cups of coffee with silk mint chocolate milk. It is taking everything in me not to drink it straight from the container, but I’m trying to make it last. It’s just so good.

Lunch – 11:30 AM

Lunch on Tuesdays always make me really happy. While I love eating with my colleagues most days, on Tuesdays many of them go out for lunch so I get some alone time which I crave on busy mornings. So my lunch was enjoyed in front of my computer catching up.

I had leftover cheesy chickpea and quinoa topped with roasted kohlrabi and broccoli…

a few pitiful last few bites of Greek yogurt mixed with 1 tbsp. protein powder…

…and a nice juicy pear.

Snack 3:30 PM

My usual snack of raisins and almonds were enjoyed scarfed on the way up to my classroom to finish up report cards. My classroom is a nut free zone ::tear::, so they were enjoyed elsewhere.

When I left school around 4:45, it was pitch black outside. I’m sorry, that’s not allowed.

Fun fact: did you know the phrase “pitch black” comes from the fact that the word “pitch” is a synonym for “tar”? So, since tar is black, having something pitch black means it’s as black as tar! I learned that while teaching fifth grade, thankyouverymuch.

Dinner 6:00 PM

I met the bestie at Jason’s Deli for some good salad bar eating and catching up on our lives. I’m pretty sure the cashier thought I was crazy when I tried to hand him only 29 cents because I was too busy talking to hand over the other $8. And then I proceeded to make a joke and tell him I only wanted to eat one artichoke. He didn’t find it funny. We thought it was hilarious.

November 8, 2011 431
Yeah, that’s not even all of it – Seriously, salad bars don’t even see me coming. But did you know they have two gluten free soups? Probably the best thing ever – I tried the organic vegetable. It was quite tasty.

I finished up the night with a snack of Love Grown, almond milk, and a nut butter spoon when I got home later on in the night, but apparently I’m a vulture and didn’t take a picture.

Aaaand, it’s Wednesday! The best day because it comes after Tuesday – admit it, it’s true.

I’ve been drinking my coffee with the Silk Pumpkin Spice. Pumpkin Coffee and pumpkin soy milk is heaven in the morning. I’ll have to switch to mint chocolate after this pumpkin phase subsides.

I haven’t been able to find the pumpkin one yet!!

Me too! I love the Pumpkin Spice one and I’m going to be very sad when it goes away for the season because it’s a cheap version of Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte (which in my opinion tastes way better than Starbucks).

What a fun fact about the phrase “pitch black.” (Ooo, I kinda rhymed there!) The things you learn from kids these days…;-)

Im also a teacher and a new reader, so impressed by your on the go eats! I’ve found it really tricky to master. What kind of protein powder do you use?

Thanks! I use Sunwarrior - I know it’s expensive but I hit the jackpot earlier this spring when I won 6 pounds of the stuff!

You’ve *got* to be kidding me. Silk Mint Chocolate milk?!? Pretty sure I’ll be driving 45 minutes to the “big” grocery store to find this!!!!!!!! Holy cow! ;) Pun intended- even though silk doesn’t come from a cow.
The whole dark thing is killing me! No sunshine, booo! Guess I’ll have to make my own, with smiles.
Happy Wednesday- AKA Modern Family day! :)

Our work had a lil’ bit of a “falling out” with Jason’s. So I don’t get it at the frequency that I was. It makes me super sad. :(

Oh my gosh mint chocolate milk?? That sounds amazing!! :) I have that same snack, the raisins and almonds, only sometimes I add semisweet chocolate chips. Isn’t jason’s deli the best? Have you tried their gluten free bread for sandwiches? I haven’t but I want to go there just cause they’re the only deli that has bread that I can eat! :)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey November 9, 2011 at 6:15 am

I haven’t, but I know they use Rudi’s, which is basically the best GF bread you can buy!

The Silk Mint Chocolate milk sounds delish!

I’m the same way with lunch… I usually eat with a group of my co-workers, but some days I like to take my whopping 30 minutes & just eat in peace & quiet! :-)

I’m not a fan of falling back because I now wake up at 6:30 instead of 7:30….not fun and I really don’t like that it’s dark at 6! Where the heck did the sun go? But I do look forward to getting up now because I found Silk Pumpkin Spice! I’ve been using it in my coffee in the mornings instead of vanilla soy milk and OMG it makes everything better.

Jason’s is delicious! I like it even more now because they have an “express machine” for people only purchasing the salad bar. I must have come one too many times, haha. Actually, though, their red pepper hummus is delicious. Why don’t all salad bars have hummus?

Reply

I hear you on how dark it is in the mornings and we don’t even fall back where we live. I always find it odd waking up and going to the gym in the dark and then driving back home and it still being pitch black out! I loved learning about where pitch black came from! Now I can act like a know it all when I hear someone use that term! Have a great rest of your day!

Oh and super tear that your classroom is a nut free zone! So not fun.

But as a plus, it’s still light when my alarm goes off at 7am…which is nice! :-) You are AMAZING for waking up so early - do you do it so you can workout before work? RESPECT.
