2 months already!

November 25, 2011

Earlier this week, my sister invited me over so I could take Aubrey’s 2 month photos for her. Let’s face it though, I need no invitation. I show up unannounced. I demand to hold the baby. I give her back when she’s crying. Therefore, I repay in picture taking.

I’m not going to lie, photographing people, babies especially, intimidates me. I am most comfortable with a subject that is not moving thankyouverymuch. And well, if my food is moving, that’s just scary.

With over 100 pictures taken, I got about 10 good shots — no surprise there. Sounds kind of like when I take pictures of my food as well!

Aubrey was surprisingly happy and alert, but she definitely let us know when our shoot was over! And I also might be fairly biased, but I have the most beautiful niece in the world.

Look at those eyes!

Look at how much her eye color changes based on the color headband she is wearing — definitely a trait my mom and I have!

For a backdrop, all I used was a white sheet draped over the back of their couch. Simple and cheap!

Baby in a basket — never gets old!

While photographing Aubrey was a little bit out of my realms, I better get used to it — 3 month pictures right before Christmas await me! Can we say baby in a stocking? I’m already getting excited about it.

The reason why she thought of it is because my mom got her a picture frame that you can put monthly photos in!!

3 questions for you:

1. when did you become a professional photographer?
2. are you available in about 5 years to take Gingie and I’s wedding pics?
3. Does Aubrey need a babysitter. She’s a gem!

haha - answers:

1. no professional here - just a beautiful baby!
2. I am available - but you’re much more talented than moi!
3. You can come and babysit with me.

Her eyes really do change color! Mine do that too, but I don’t know if they do it quite as clearly! The pictures are adorable, and I can’t wait to see the Christmas themed ones you come up with!

oh my double goodness! these are fabulous shots. my cousin in orlando is a photographer of children (http://www.tracyhougham.com/), and i attended a photo shoot with her last february. FAILURE (in my head). the kid called me “the assistant evil princess,” and i was intimidated, bored, and feeling so negative during the entire experience! i’m SO MUCH better with photographing dogs!!!!!!!!! :)

You did great! Your neice is beautiful … love her eyes … my daughter has the same beautiful quality … the color of her eyes changes with what she wears and the amount or type of light … I also love my brown eyed girl … my oldest daughter … brown eyes deep and beautiful in their own right! :)

You got more than ten! Those are beautiful- I don’t know who is more lucky: you, Aubrey, or your sister. You get to hold a beautiful niece (and live close to her!), your niece has you for an aunt, and your sister gets pictures like this! You are all pretty lucky! :)
While I was looking at these I was thinking— How did she get light like that? I wonder if Aubrey went into the new light box?! ;) HA!
