on repeat

December 10, 2011

Everyone was feeling quite sleepy around these parts this morning.

Charlie woke me up around 6, begged to be fed, and then went right back to his spot on the couch. He looks at you with piercing eyes until you cover him up with a blanket. I tell you, this dog is spoiled – he’s in for a rude awakening some day when we have children!

Unfortunately, I woke up with a pounding headache, so I took it pretty easy for the first part of my day. Since the Husband and Charlie took advantage of sleeping in until 9, I found myself watching TV, eating breakfast, drinking my coffee, and wrapping many of our Christmas presents. I’m almost done! I think I only have about 7 or 8 more to wrap. My hands needed a break after all that wrapping, that much’s for sure!

Around 10, I headed out for my 11 miles outside. I debated running inside on the treadmill again, but I just couldn’t do it. Instead, I bundled up – tights, pants, a long sleeved shirt, a zip up, and a sweatshirt. All covered with gloves and a fleece headband to attempt to squash those 15 degree temps outside!

Well folks, I am here to tell you that 15 degrees on your lungs for 11 miles is ROUGH. Seriously. I had to keep taking walking breaks not because I was cold or because I was dodging ice, but because my lungs needed a break from trying to breathe so hard. Overall it went okay, although I shortened it by about a half of a mile and I finished in about 1:41, a little slower than last week. However, with all those walking breaks, I’ll take a 9:23 pace any day!

Oh, and I also listened to the same song for the entire run – have you ever done that? This week on Glee, I became obsessed with the song We are Young – and you will too when you watch this video. I just love the harmonizing in the song and the beat in the background kept me going the entire way! Oh, and I was visualizing myself being part of the Glee cast and fist pumping with them on stage. Yeahh…..

In other news, I got a little present from Love Grown the other day!

That picture was minus Raisin Almond Crunch because it may or may not already be 2/3 gone. Whoops.

But let’s talk about something else – how in the world did they know I just ran out of my last stash? Amazing, I tell ya.

Isn’t that the cutest hat? I definitely can’t wait to sport it when I work out or when my hair just is not cooperating.

And, if you’re looking for something for a stocking stuffer, I’m here to tell you that Love Grown is a perfect fit. Oh yeah.

Did you listen to that Glee song yet? Here’s your last chance. And then you can repeat it for at least 3 hours like me.

I’m off to go paint more pottery with my sister’s kids today! Yahoo! Happy Saturday!

Question: What’s your favorite song to listen to on repeat?

I’ve been listening to that same glee song since Tuesday night on repeat. It’s my favorite yet! The Adele rumor has it/someone like you mash up is a close 2nd.

cleaneatingchelsey December 10, 2011 at 6:57 pm

I’m glad I’m not the only one! I listened to that other mash up for about 20 minutes and We are Young for the other hour 20. haha!

Samantha December 10, 2011 at 2:10 pm

I totally listened to that song and the Survivor/I Will Survive mash up on repeat on my last run!

I lovedddd that Glee song…so fantastic! Most of the Glee ones get me. I also love some rock songs like Civil Twilight’s Letters From the Sky or Ladylike by Big Wreck. When I’m running - anything with a beat, love Saxobeat by Alexandra Stan and the Robert Randolph and the Family Band’s Ain’t Nothing Wrong with That!

I have this weird obesession with the verve, bittersweet symphony as a repeated running song!

You are crazy and equally awesome for heading out in 15 degrees.

On repeat? Well…I normally run sans music because I feel safer that way so there’s nothing to even BE on repeat. LOL

Cute Love Grown package too. I can totally see you rockin’ that hat!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey December 10, 2011 at 7:00 pm

I agree, running without music is much safer! However, on these long runs I can’t not run with it!

I haven’t listened to it! The Internet connection on the old computer I am using while mine is “away” has a sketchy Internet connection and can’t do instant streaming, so I’ve been missing out on glee!

:( I am so sorry.

Kit-Kat December 10, 2011 at 5:01 pm

That depends on if i’m exercising or not, and the intensity, too.
If I’m exercising, I like to listen to about 10 to 13 minute songs so the time kinda flies…. that would mean a douse of either classical or Pirates of the Carribbean!
However, I’m fond of “More Than It Seems”, sung by Kutless….. and Taylor Swift and Daughtry’s songs are good to listen to over and over again as well.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey December 10, 2011 at 7:01 pm

I do love Taylor Swift for running!

Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin December 10, 2011 at 5:36 pm

Brr that sounds like such a chilly run! I hate even walking from my door to the car when it’s this cold out, let alone running outdoors!

Lately I’ve been listening to “Last Night” by Ian Carey and Snoop Dogg on repeat. It’s kind of addictive!

Reply

Emily December 10, 2011 at 5:54 pm

Props to you for pushing through your freezing cold run! I have such a hard time in the cold. I hate the constant burning feeling in my lungs- it’s miserable!
I love that song! The Glee version is so much fun.

Reply

I’m shivering just thinking about that! I thrive on variety, so I haven’t actually ever repeated songs during a workout. But I totally pretend like I am performing the song, or a part of Glee when listening to pretty much any song. lol

depends on my mood! But I love New American Classic by Taking Back Sunday. I’m not totally sure of the band’s original meaning behind the song but that means I can think of it however I like!! Most often it reminds me that there are some things you can’t do anything about, and I allow myself just to relax and let go of whatever situation may be bugging me!
