fun facts friday

December 23, 2011

1. For the past two nights, I have felt like an insomniac. Thursday morning I woke up at 3:30 (!!!!!) and actually got out of bed. You know when you wake up and you are just up? That was me. You could find me watching old episodes of Friends, doing BodyRock in my living room, and curling my hair – something that never happens because I would rather spend more time not curling my hair. This morning, my first day of winter break, I woke up at 4:45. I stayed in bed until 5:00.

2. Speaking of getting up at 5:00, that means it’s going to be a loooooooooooooong day. My mom and I are taking my niece and nephew into Chicago to see the windows in the department stores and see all of the pretty decorations. Downtown Chicago + 2 kids + 2 days before Christmas = my mother and I have lost our minds.

3. Our coffee maker has been broken for this entire week. I don’t know what in the world it was thinking, but it’s done. RIP coffee maker. The Husband insisted I get Starbuck’s every day this week to make up for it.

4. Okay, he didn’t really insist, but he didn’t protest either.

5. I need to go on a cooking frenzy when I get home tonight. Cinnamon rolls, stuffing, and broccoli cheese casserole all need to be prepped for Christmas!

6. I forget who told me this (was it you, Evan?), but Whole Food’s powdered sugar is made with tapioca starch. Thank you, sweet baby Jesus. It’s a Christmas miracle.

7. Whatever ailment was plaguing me earlier this week has come back with a vengeance in my throat and nose. If you see a crazy lady walking the streets of Chicago with tissue hanging out of her nose, that might be me.

8. I’m supposed to run 12 miles tomorrow. Seriously? On Christmas Eve? We’ll see if that actually happens. ::sigh::

9. Did anyone else buy that Groupon for Old Navy a month or so ago? In case you’re unaware, they expire on Christmas Eve – as in, tomorrow! Uh, I’ve been in Old Navy twice to try to use them. The first time, my printer was almost out of ink, so both the codes didn’t print out on them. #failone The second time, I felt guilty buying things for myself so close to Christmas since we didn’t need any more presents for anyone. #failtwo I walked around for 30 minutes, got overwhelmed, and left the other day. Needless to say, my mom is buying them off of me. I’m crazy.

10. The winner of the Rudi’s Giveaway is #106, Lindsay C. Congrats Lindsay! Email me to claim your prize.

11. Have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends. I’m signing off for the entire weekend, so I will be back sometime early next week. Merry Christmas!

12 miles on Xmas eve is actually a great idea: rev up that appetite for the cookies! Happy holidays!

That’s a great way to look at it! Although I mapped out my day and uhh I have no idea how I’m going to make 12 miles happen. Maybe 8 because I bust that out in just over an hour. But 12? Yikes, pushing it on the time front!

5am on your first day off!? You poor thing! Haha, I could barely extract myself from bed this morning at 8am and I’m working today!
Have a wonderful Christmas with your family :)

I suppose I should have replied to this yesterday, but yes! You could just stick the pre-made dough in the fridge.

#1 is SO my husband. I think it’s some form of SAD! And annoying because he then falls asleep at like 8:30 :-P
And I would rather spend my time NOT curling my hair, too, girl. I love how it looks, but hate taking 15 more minutes to get ready. Getting ready is overrated.

Might be in my case as well! The winter really affects my moods!

I think someone is just anxious to see what Santa brings her and is trying to stay awake for every reindeer-on-the-roof filled moment :)

Sometimes when I am keyed up, i.e. a big run, slightly sick, or drink too much coffee too late in the day…I can’t sleep. You have a trifecta of what would give me the awakes.

Hope you get some zzz’s!

It wasn’t that bad actually until we went to Macy’s on State Street. Everywhere else was pretty calm actually!

Reply

I work at Macy’s. No need to tell me about the craziness.

Katie @ Peace Love and Oats December 23, 2011 at 8:22 am

Haha I’m sure no one will notice if you look crazy downtown, a lot of people do. And good luck with all the baking and the run! I’m also making cinnamon rolls but I can’t eat them, they’re a special recipe my great aunt made and everyone loved. I promised I’d make them to honor her since she passed away this time last year.

haha oh my gosh you should have seen my niece when we rode on the subway. She exclaimed that she was “NEVER going back to Chicago again because it is too scary” - meaning, the people on the subway were scary.

Janetha told me that you can use the groupon’s past their expiration, but for the PURCHASED value…so not quite so great, but at least you don’t lose all of your money.
P.s. Wishing I’d married a C named man. :(

Yeah, I know about that too but I don’t want to miss out on the money! We bought things for my nieces and nephew instead.

I did the same exact thing with my Old Navy groupons! Actually, I bought two and only ended up using one. But luckily, they can still be redeemed for the price of the groupon.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend Chelsey!! :)
