fun facts friday

January 13, 2012

1. Dear city of Chicago, can someone please explain to me how on Wednesday it was 55 degrees and sunny (really?) and Thursday is was 20 degrees with snow blowing everywhere? So weird.

2. In other news, IT SNOWEEEDDDD! I don’t care how annoying you thought my snow tweets were, I am so pumped. It looks beautiful outside — until I actually go outside and the wind slaps me in the face. Then I want to cry big icicle tears.

3. I told myself I was going to take a full week off from all work outs after my half marathon to fully recover. Then, my plan was to focus more on strength instead of cardio. It’s been five days. I’m antsy. I. can’t. do. this.

4. A lot of you have been asking me what I decided about my skin care debacle lately. I’ve finally come up with a new plan after some debating, but I don’t want to post about it until I know what’s really working. Be on the look out soon.

5. Remember how I promised you a new series this week? Uhhh… I guess look for it tomorrow!

6. Tina introduced me to a wonderful website called Good Reads. I’m a book nerd and cannot put books down if my life depended on it. You should probably sign up, become friends with me, and we can talk about books 24/7. I’ll even wear my glasses so I’ll look smarter than I actually am.

7. A lot of good posts going on this week — particularly this one and this one. Way to take one for the team and talk about things no one wants to talk about ladies.

8. It’s the middle of January — SERIOUSLY!?!? When in the world did that happen? Wasn’t it just Christmas like two days ago?

Source

Speaking of which, is this not the cutest thing ever? I want to make it.

9. Every time I look in the mirror, I try not to scream at the hairy beast that is my eyebrows. I look like a caveman. I know how I’ll be spending at least 3 hours of my life today.

10. Watching Charlie walk through the snow was probably the funniest thing I have seen all day. He refuses to let his paws touch the ground, which ends up being very comical.

11. Happy Friday!

Ohh I hope your new series has something to do with your decision to focus more on strength training! My workout goals are pretty much the same: more time beefin’ up, less time cardio! Have a great Friday, Chelsey and relaaax- not long till you get your hit of endorphins :D

cleaneatingchelsey January 14, 2012 at 6:31 pm

I just posted the new series tonight! It’s not about my strength training, but I will put a post together about that!

Happy snow day!! It was the same way here, almost 80 on Wednesday and then down to a wind chill of 23 yesterday. Ridiculous. I used to have a Goodreads, but I haven’t checked it in like 5 years. Happy Friday! :)

Before I found blogs, I actually read books :) Now, I read cookbooks, blogs, and pinterest. And lot so children’s books. See Spot Run.

I saw Janetha’s post, not Katy’s. Off to read that…

Snow. ugh. That’s why I don’t live in Chicago anymore! And will always live in San Diego…I cannot stand winter!

I do miss my summer weather, but I love the different seasons!

I looove Goodreads! makes giving friends recommendations so much easier (because isn’t that always when you forget those amazing books you couldn’t stop talking about) and keeps a handy list ready when it’s time to pick out the next book! (yes, I am a nerd)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey January 14, 2012 at 6:33 pm

I am a nerd too - I had an excel spreadsheet of books I have read and want to read. I think that has you beat. ;)

Reply

Holly January 13, 2012 at 6:46 am

We had the same 30 degree weather shift, except we’re in KY and people FREAK out when they see rain or a snowflake! At least it’s a little more “common” for Chicago! I’ve got to tame my brows today too… dun dun dun….

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey January 14, 2012 at 6:33 pm

It didn’t take me quite as long as I thought for it to tame the beast. I feel so much more womanly now.

It snowed here too! But I’m definitely not as excited as you are. :P It could have stayed snow-free and above freezing all winter and I would have been one happy girl!

I love plucking too - it used to be a daily event!

Way to remind me that my eyebrows are desperately neglected. I’ve been trying to ignore it for days lol. I’m pretty jealous of the snow… mail me a snowball ok?

Reply

I tried - it melted.

*SNOW* yay for you! ….We are so short on snowfall this year, everyone is. I’m hoping for some late Februaruary/early March snow days (January isn’t looking too promising.)
I know, hasn’t January flown by! WOW! I hope it continues this way! :)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey January 14, 2012 at 6:38 pm

At least it started late in the winter so it didn’t seem so dreary! I can’t believe that spring will be here in 2 months!

Sitting on the plane right now to head back! I can’t wait to see the pretty snow! And I am also obsessed with that book website now!

Reply

Good Reads is pretty cool, I’m planning to use it to read at least 24 books this year. We’ll see, my magazine stash is pretty neglected too.
We only had one snowy day this year, and it was in October…I’m not sure what’s up with the weather, but if it’s going to be cold it may as well snow!
Random, but I just saw a Groupon for a singing Justin Bieber toothbrush and it made me think of your Disney playlist :) haha.

hahahahahaha I wish there were a “like” button after the sentence “Every time I look in the mirror, I try not to scream at the hairy beast that is my eyebrows.” Definitely been there….

Literally, my first instinct was to push “like” but then I realized this was a blog, not facebook :)

Number 9 would be on my fun facts Friday on a weekly basis. Maybe I need to make plucking higher up on my priority list!

I had a goodreads account but just really looked around after reading your blog… what an amazing site! I commented that I loved Secret Lives, but I actually always confuse that with ‘The Shadow Wife’… so alas, Secret Lives is on my ‘to-read’ list. Love Diane Chamberlain though!

Reply

So glad it snowed here as well! Except in they told us we’d get 8-12 inches in lincoln park but only got about 4… Still awesome!
Dogs in the snow are hilarious! Mine likes to stick her nose in every pile of snow she walks past. Funny, but makes getting anywhere rather difficult.

I love snow. I want to have our first official snow fall of the year. Of course, I only say that if we only have a little bit. Or if I have no where to go, and we have a whole lot of it. But it looks pretty :)

I get so antsy when I take more than 3 days off from working out! Being sick this week has forced me to do just that and I’m going craaazy. I think I’ve officially driven my roommate insane!
So jealous that you have snow. LA seems to have settled down for “winter” in the mid-60′s and 70′s. While it does feel nice, some snow would be fun!

Sarah@studiofood January 14, 2012 at 2:06 am

I totally sympathise with Number 3. I had a couple of weeks off recently, and man does it feel good to get back into exercise! Although because my body was unused to my normal level of exercise, I spent 2 days with DOMS that resulted in me hobbling up and down stairs like I was chronically arthritic. Hot.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey January 14, 2012 at 6:50 pm
