fun facts friday

January 20, 2012

1. We’re getting snow today – SNOW!!!! I bet you feel like every time I talk about snow you want to jack me in the face. I understand. I’ll be wanting to jack myself in the face when the brunt of it will be on my commute home. #fail

Can you tell I wrote this last night?

2. In case you’re wondering, Braeburn apples are the best things ever right now. Go get some. Seriously.

3. Shortened weeks feel like the longest weeks everrrrrrrrr. So ironic, doncha think? A little toooooo ironic. (end Alanis Morissette song)

4. I’ll be answering some more questions in my next post about doing Live Fit Trainer, but for those of you who asked, I am not following her eating plan. I’ll be embarking on something a little bit different! I guess I’m going to be the guinea pig.

5. Wonderful reader Amanda and my co-worker Trish (who takes amazingly beautiful pictures by the way) encouraged me into figuring out how to take drool spots out of those baby pictures. I am in love with Lightroom (which you can download for free right now for a trial basis by the way).

Now you see it…

Now you don’t!

6. My body is S-O-R-E!! I didn’t realize how much I was skimping on the weights until this week. I am craving a hot yoga session like you would not believe.

7. Have you heard about the SOPA and PIPA bills? I’m horrible at explaining things, but Lindsay posted a great video about what would happen if those bills were passed. Let’s just say the internet as you know would be over. If I were you, I’d be emailing my congressmen/women super fast to tell them how much I oppose these bills. I actually did just that yesterday and have already gotten an email back from one of them (automated I’m sure) about how he opposes the bill. Rock on! Here’s that video – you really need to watch it.

On January 18, Wikipedia also did something amazing – they shut down their site for 24 hours to protest the bills. When you went to their site, you saw the picture below. If these bills pass, that is exactly what is going to happen. You could also just go here and learn more about the bills.

8. Did you hear? Jennifer Anniston is supposedly pregnant! If that’s actually true, good for her!

9. I wish I were more creative in the kitchen in the last few weeks than I actually have been. I blame winter.

10. Speaking of winter, there are only like 10 more weeks left! That is, unless the groundhog doesn’t see his shadow in a few weeks.

11. I have been wanting to do nothing else but eat this week. Seriously. Once breakfast is over, I want lunch. Once lunch is over, I want my snack. Once my snack is over… you get the picture. This happens every once in a while, but I just can’t get food off my mind.

12. Happy Friday!!!!

Yesss I feel like Braeburn apples don’t get enough attention- they’re SO yum…perfect crispness and sweeteness! And I have a 4-day weekend so here’s hoping number 3 isn’t true :) !

I love Honeycrisps too, but they’re SO expensive.

Reply

Carrie January 20, 2012 at 6:28 am

Braeburn apples are the only kind of apple. Well, not really. But for reals they’re soooo amazing! Yum

SOPA HAS GOT TO GO.

Word on the street is they’re postponing any sort of advancement with the bill because of the reaction!

Reply

Nicole January 20, 2012 at 6:43 am

I still have a few bags full of honeycrisp apples in my fridge! I have to eat them soon, though, before they turn to mush!
I also think that short weeks always, without fail, seem like the longest weeks!

I buy Braeburn’s a lot- Fuji are probably favorite though. I have a friend that is very into politics, and she actually knew about SOPA several years ago. So I guess it’s been awhile coming. (For some reason it always reminds me of Sopa pia’s (or however they’re spelled. I used to have them all the time in college at this Mexican restaurant we ate at a lot! LOL)

I can’t wait to follow your journey with Live Fit! After reading all about it, I really want to try it out. I’m a vegetarian, who tries to be as vegan as possible, and I’d love to see how you tweak the program to fit your eating, so I can get some ideas on what to do, too.

That’s okay - I’m glad it happened tonight instead of on the way to school. That would have stunk.

I love when people recommend apple varieties!!! I am always on the lookout for new apples to try, but often when I go to the grocery store I just go to my standby favorites because I figure it can’t get any better. I’m intrigued by the Braeburns though, I’ll have to pick some up next time. :)

Yikes…..in the video, when it talks about how people could go to jail for FIVE YEARS, just from using an infringed link (or posting of video of you humming a Britney Spears song….), I was astounded. REALLY???? We will send someone to jail for 5 years for something so minuscule, yet some people caught selling drugs, stealing, or raping don’t even go to jail for that long. Let’s focus on the more detrimental crimes, please. Yes, lets obviously try and stop the piracy and stuff, in the best way we can, but lets not get overboard and go control everyone’s life!!!

Anywho! I did hear about Jennifer Aniston being pregnant, BUT I saw it first on the cover of a tabloid while in line at the grocery store, so I thought it was fake! Maybe she is though. Isn’t she like 40, though??

Confession: I’m still a bit bummed about her and Brad not being together. They would have made beautiful babies!

And so ready for winter to be over. I’m glad I’m coming to Chicago NOT in January. That was so gramatically incorrect but I’m not bothering to change it.

I feel like Jennifer Aniston has been pregnant 100 times, but if she really is then kudos to her! I’ll have to Google! And yes this whole SOPA thing is crazy. I really hope it gets shot down. Google’s logo was blacked out and YouTube wasn’t showing videos earlier this week too so with those big companies against it I’m hoping it doesn’t pass…fingers crossed!

Reply

Hannah January 20, 2012 at 12:18 pm

Candy @ Healthy in Candy Land January 20, 2012 at 7:12 pm

I live in Washington state, near Seattle. We aren’t used to much snow, and when we do get it, it usually doesn’t stick around more than a day or two.

I don’t know if I’ve ever tried a Braeburn. I’m a total Pink Lady girl. I hope JA is pregnant! That’d be so exciting for her. And I love the fake irony ala Alanis. Oh Alanis, teaching us every day what ironic doesn’t mean. :)

I have been crazy hungry all week too! Something about it being a short work week (which did feel incredibly long), having morning and afternoon practices with my girls, teaching dance, etc…all I have wanted to do is eat eat eat. I hope this passes soon!

Yay for you getting snow! It is 61 here in west TN right now, the high is 41 tomorrow, and 64 on Sunday. Crazy.

It’s amazing what a great weights session can do. Especially when you haven’t been doing much strength training. I love that fresh, sore feeling!
