At the end of 2011, I got word from one of my favorite companies about an exciting opportunity in 2012!
As you all probably know, my heart swoons over Larabars. I have been eating them for a few years and proclaiming my love for them one cashew cookie bar at a time. Last year I found out that Larabar has an Ambassador Program for health and fitness professionals (not that I am calling myself a professional AT ALL), and I thought it would be a great program for me to become a part of to help me share my love for Larabars with you all!
To help kick off the celebration of becoming a Larabar Ambassador (and for February being American Heart Month!), I thought I would host a giveaway with some of the goodies Larabar has sent me.
One of the things I love about Larabar is their pure ingredients – each one of the bars is comprised of no more than 9 ingredients, some of which are of the nut variety.
Since February is American Heart Month, I can’t let it go without saying how heart healthy nuts are for your body. Taken from the Mayo Clinic, nuts have been shown to be:
- made up of unsaturated fats (the good kind!)
- include omega-3 fatty acids (perfect for a vegetarian)
- high in fiber
- include Vitamin E (which may help to stop plaque build up in your arteries)
All of those awesome qualities can also help to lower bad cholesterol. Time for some snacking!
For my first Larabar giveaway, one lucky reader will be winning 12 of my favorite Larabar mini’s as well as a Larabar water bottle.
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment about what heart healthy activity you are going to partake in during the month of February.
This giveaway will be open until Thursday, February 9 @ midnight. A winner will be announced Friday morning. Happy entering!
Disclaimer: Larabar sent me these goodies as part of the Larabar Ambassador program. Larabar is not affiliated with the American Heart Month nor do they claim to make your heart healthier.

i’ve done it all, aquatics, water zumba, the machines…just plain old walking and jogging is what i plan on getting back into
besides taking the double jogger out with the kiddos ( me time)
I’m doing the livefit trainer. I’m on week 3!
I agree the bars are tasty, but am deterred from purchasing them because of the packaging..it seems like a lot of waste coming from the way they are packaged because from what I understand the wrappers are not biodegradable. If they are though, I’d love to know..
Interesting point! And I’m not sure about the wrappers - something to look into for sure!
During the month of February, I will participate in a lot of heart-pumping cardio to keep my ticker good and strong!
Swim 5 days a week! My fav cardio
I’ve implemented a gym routine and I’m sticking to it!!!
In spite of my lack of any type of coordination, I am going to try taking some zumba classes to shake things up a bit.
If we EVER get any snow this winter, I want to try snowshoeing! I have had it on my list all winter and we have gotten officially one snow heavy enough to snowshoe and it was during the week so I was out of luck!!
You’re a LaraBar Ambassador?! That is amazing! I envy you.
These bars are so amazing. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of them- especially with so many flavors to choose from!
This month I’m planning to incorporate at least 2 yoga classes into my weekly routine. The perfect way to relax and strengthen my heart, mind, AND body.

How about eating my body weight in Lara bars:)
Training for a 10k!
A third grade student in me answers to this question:
- I didn’t know I had to have a heart healthy activities this month. Does eating an extra pound (on a top of regular two pounds) of walnuts counts? Or chasing a geese outside for two hours to take their picture considered an activity? I really love those cherry Larabars, please, pick me! pick me! Lol.
That’s all the extra from me. My usual routine is yoga, cardio, aquafitness, and cross training. I can’t think of anything else. Oh, no. I have in my mind to chase Cardinal birds to take picture of them too. Imagine that!
Seriously I love those cherry Larabars.
I’m doing weight lifting, eating healthy, walking to & from school and going to rowing winter conditioning!

I am trying to run more!! I feel like my metabolism isn’t as reved up as it used to be when I used to run all the time. So, to get back in mode (via treadmill…for now), I’m making a goal to run at least once a week, and a minimum of 4-5 miles in that run! I think it’ll be a 5-miler tonight!!
More yoga and more hugs.
This month I’m increasing the elliptical to 5 times a week for MY heart and the little heart beating inside me. I’ve got 2 hearts counting on me now!
mmm…i LOVE larabars! the fact that they are simple and natural (and that i can read and decipher every ingredient on the label) makes them amazing and #1 in my book. my husband and i each eat a peanut butter one every morning. i think i keep whole foods in business with these as i go there and purchase boxes at a time!
this month, i am completing the february run challenge! the goal is to run everyday. no rules, except that it has to be one mile or more to count. it’s a great way to motivate yourself and prove to yourself that you can do anything you put your mind to! you can find out more about the challenge @ http://www.swimbikerunningonempty.weebly.com. i would love for others to join me!

The healthy activity I will partake in in February will be to do more yoga! I will aim for 2 times per week and hopefully more.

I plan on going on runs with my mom and dad, instead of by myself all the time. It should be fun! I also want to get back to snuff on my bike riding, since I have stopped during the cold and wet months (here in Washington, you can only wind-train during winter and the rainy season).
I also want to swim more, since my brother is really becoming quite good with his lessons
Running- I’m training for my first half marathon!
I am running almost every day, and lifting twice a week! Also, does making oatmeal count as an activity?

Great for the heart and mind.. works wonders for your overall strength, toning and physical fitness.. I’m absolutely loving it!
I’m training harder and making sure to eat more heart healthy fats. Have to push myself to run farther (I’m still getting to grips with this whole running game!) Not sure if Irish entries count but I’m dying to get my hands on some larabars!
Strength training is my new obsession!
running my butt off!
Running and kickboxing for me
Training for a 5K!
I suffered an injury to my hip whilst training for a Half Marathon this winter so instead of running I will take up swimming this month. The Half Marathon may be off the cards for me but it doesn’t mean that I have to let my fitness drop
This horrible weather we’re having has kept me from doing anything outdoors lately, but I promise (to myself!) that I will be doing a lot more walks around the city this month!
…and I would certainly like to get some Larabars to snack on when i come back! ha!
After reading your review I started Livefit yesterday!

running, trying to eat more greens & most of all: getting enough sleep..! i think that is one of the most important aspects of health that many people forget!
Waking up at 4:30 for the gym before work. It’s the only way I can workout and a larabar mini would be a perfect little bite of fuel before I head to the gym!
i’m trying to incorporate red meat back into my diet to up my iron intake
I LOVE Larabars. I just scored a few boxes on clearance at Target & am grabbing one each morning for my afternoon snack. Sort of like almonds & raisins, except mushed together.
I’m going to mindfully run this month - meaning I will not push my body as hard as I had in January…this it led to some sickness & pains. I will hopefully be doing so in the morning so I have more time for “life” after work (which I hope will = less stress).
I’ve done two incredible things this month. First, I became vegan. It’s been fun trying out new recipes and rediscovering my love for all things REAL! Second, I joined a gym and have been sticking to my cardio/weights workout. I’m feeling great and loving life!

You inspired me to start Livefit! I’m only on week 2 but so far, I LOVE IT! I also have been trying to stick to a 40-40-20 macro count (although, it is hard to constantly count calories). I’m kind of nervous for when the cardio kicks into high gear with phase 2 and 3 (like Janetha from meals and moves, I prefer weight training over cardio) but also excited to shed some pounds.
Come onnnnn Luna Bars!!
My heart healthy activity for the month is trying to up my healthy fats consumption (a lot). I recently realized this was very lacking! Larabars are a good way to get in those healthy fats for sure!

I’ve been setting my alarm to get up and hit the gym before work 3 x a week. (I’m so not a morning workout person!). But the treadmill in the morning is much more powerful than a cup of coffee!!
I plan to try a new activity each time I do any cardio for the month of February! So far I have done a simple run, kick boxing and a Zumba class. Hopefully I can get creative enough to keep coming up with new ideas =)
