The verdict on The Vow?
It was okay. Definitely not excellent though. Yes, it is worth it to still go see it in the movie theater. No, I will not disclose anything that happened – however, I do think one of the reasons why i didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would have was because Rachel McAdams’ character was kind of devoid of any sort of passion. My favorite movie with her is The Notebook (obviously, right?) and that movie screams passion.
Bottom line? Still go see it – don’t expect to be blown away.
This morning was super lazy on my part. We got hoe from the show around 10:30 last night, and I was asleep by 11:00. Aaand then I was still awake at 5:30 this morning. I tried to fight it for a while, but ended up just getting out of bed to eat some breakfast in the quiet. After I was finished, I decided I should probably go back to bed – and I did. I rarely go back to bed after I am up for the day and will nap later on if I’m extremely tired, but today I was feeling it. I read my book for about a half an hour before I fell asleep and stayed there until about 8:30 this morning.
Unfortunately, that meant I missed yoga. This morning sleep trumped yoga.
I spent the remainder of the morning going to about a zillion grocery stores (okay, 3) and getting our weekly haul of groceries. After I put everything away, I sat down to my favorite meal as of late.
Sauted kale and onions (with a little liquid aminos), a sweet potato, and a fried egg. All doused with a generous dollop of ketchup as well.
The rest of the day includes cleaning my disgusting house, mailing some packages out, and going on a date night for Valentine’s Day with the Husband later on tonight!
Have a great Saturday everyone!
PS - I’m guest posting over at The Daily Crumb today - go check it out!

That meal looks great- so simple and delicious!! I just bought sweet potatoes today, definitely gonna have one later.! Happy Saturday
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Nicholas Sparks in general. Loved your post on The Daily Crumb.
Jealous of that perfect looking sweet potato. I want to eat it off the screen.
I just ate a sweet potato! Although I had mine with some greek yogurt. I couldn’t stomach veggies after a long run.
Im going through an ‘I love eggs’ phase- can’t stop eating them, especially with roasted pumpkin and green beans on the side..and ketchup (duh)! Have a great night out with the hubby!
I’m now craving a sweet potato. Then again, after running 14 miles this am I will be craving ANYTHING carb related.
glad you were able to sleep in! Even if that meant missing yoga…sleep trumps all when you need it!
I think The Vow is way to built up because I keep hearing the same reviews…just okay. I think I’ll wait until it comes out on DVD. It sounds like a good girls night in movie..maybe some sushi and wine too.
Enjoy date night!
my baby sister’s in town this weekend celebrating my thirtieth birthday, and she’s DRAGGING me to see that. i’m still waiting to cry over the notebook.
thanks for the review. maybe it will help with my “let’s go shopping instead” persuasion. xxx
New reader here, just wanted to say hello. I subscribed to your blog when I saw the kale and eggs with nutritional yeast because I eat this at least 3 times a week. A lot of people make fun of me, I’m just glad there are others out there with similar taste buds. I am definitely getting inspired my some of your recipes!
I’m glad you crawled back into bed- it’s important to throw a small kink into the regular schedule every now and then, especially if it’s doing what you’re ‘feeling’…… I’m also glad that you added the review on “The Vow”. I didn’t make it after the doctor (things went good there!) to see the movie all by myself. Maybe later.
Enjoy your night, sounds wonderful!!
So glad to hear the doctor’s appt went well! You know you can email me any time if you need someone to vent to!
I am right there with you on the vow. It was alright. That meal looks deeelish I am really craving that now lol
Great post! Sounds like a great Saturday to me!
I still want to go see it! I might go this afternoon.
I’m glad you said that it was just okay - if I hear a movie is amazing then it almost never lives up to my expectations. Now I know not to expect another “The Notebook”
YUM! That combo looks amazing. I just so happen to have some kale and onions lying around the kitchen, I think I know what will be on the menu for brunch tomorrow! Thanks for all of your inspiration
Like the dinner combo…enjoy date night and the rest of ur weekend
Just got home from the vow. I actually loved it! I think I just loved how deeply her husband loved her. It was touching. I agree though, notebook better!
I did like that!
you must eat eggs with avocado and coconut oil …so good alongside Udi’s toast and a few dollops of yogurt.
do you ever eat chocolate chelsey? I have a BAD habit of eating an ounce of chocolate every.single.night. I’ve also compulsive with rice cakes and muffins. Every night. Help!
hahaha i ALWAYS end dinner with 2 squares of Lindt dark chocolate with sea salt. I always forget to take a picture of it whenever I do a WIAW.
I ended up going to see The Vow with my sister today, and I really liked it…I just wish there would’ve been more details. I was kind of disappointed in the end too. I think I wanted it to be more like The Notebook..that’s my favorite too!
I am a huge sweet potato fan! Looks like a great meal..:)
Hope you had a great date night
I sometimes love those mornings when I crawl back into bed after breakfast and relax. PS: Thanks for the movie review. It’s definitely still on my list!
I was hesitant about The Vow in the first place. I had a feeling it wouldn’t live up to the hype! I’m still planning to see it though. I can’t pass up a Rachel McAdams film.
I did the exact same thing this morning! Sometimes sleep just takes priority and it feels absolutely amazing. I’m glad you let yourself go back to sleep!
Don’t get me wrong, it was still good!
I’m seeig the vow today!
let me know what you thought about it!
Aww I was so looking forward to that movie! That’s too bad it wasn’t that great. I guess nothing can really live up to The Notebook though, huh? Unless Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams do another movie together… #wishfulthinking
Hope you had a fun date night!
Thanks for the heads up on The Vow. We didn’t end up going this weekend, even though Vishnu insisted.
We watched Crazy, Stupid, Love instead!
Got to love easy Saturdays. I total did the same- went through wedding pictures with my mom, bought and watch Breaking Dawn-Part 1, and the dinner and wine night with the husband.
For what it’s worth, my doctor who is also a registered nutritionist said to avoid peanuts because they often have a mold on them that is toxic to humans. Obviously it doesn’t kill you or anything, but he says almonds, walnuts, etc. are a much better choice.
Personally, I quit buying peanuts / pb, but if I am out or traveling I don’t avoid them completely.
3 grocery stores, that sounds about right. I can never seem to get everything at just one. So frustrating!
I feel ya on the multiple grocery store one. Why can’t Trader Joe’s sell silken tofu and nutritional yeast!?
I think my friend and I are the only ones who really liked The Vow. But I may be biased becaused I can’t stop thinking about Channing’s tush. Serious eye candy.
P.S. your post at the Daily Crumb was adorable!
I put ketchup on my greens sometimes and people are like, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” I cant help it, sometimes I crave just ketchup.
I loved the notebook but Rachel McAdams in wedding crashers…pretty much priceless.
I love reading your blog and seeing all of your beautiful pictures!
I totally agree with you on The Vow and The Notebook. It’s hard for anything to be as great as The Notebook, I keep hoping though! I kinda felt the same about The Time-travelers Wife and P.S. I Love You. Great movies, but when you go in thinking “The Notebook” it’s so hard to top!
funny, I’ve heard that SAME exact reaction from everyone I know who went to see The Vow. lots of “mehs.” I think I’ll wait and redbox it later.
I totally agree with you on The Vow- I actually watched both The Vow and The Notebook this weekend The Notebook wins hands down. I was a bit disappointed with the ending and it did indeed lack passion.
The meal looks familiar to my dinner last night- I had baked Sweet Potato, Roasted Brocolli and Egg Whites!
Loved the guest post! I won’t cook meat for the boo partially b/c it always grossed me out (I kept a box of latex gloves in my room at all time b/c I refused to handle raw meat with my bare hands) and now b/c I wouldn’t even know how to cook it! But I love your perspective.
