The past few weekends, I have started to get excited for summer life. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my job — buuut with my love for children came another perk… summers off! Saturday was a really fun day — let’s recap!
On Saturday morning, I really took some time and lounged around a while in my pajamas — I ate breakfast, went back to bed for a little bit, did some laundry, and got ready for the day! The first stop of my day was supposed to be the bank, but on the way there I got lured into the traps of Starbuck’s for a soy misto. Are you surprised? I’m not. After I went to the bank to cash a check from my mom, I went to Kohl’s to get this dress and these earrings with the Kohl’s cash we earned last weekend. (don’t forget to use the code BLOGGER10 to get 10% your Kohl’s.com purchases now through June 23!)
My next stop was to grocery store one for some things that would be okay to stay in my car for a few hours while I met up with Katie! I got a bunch of produce and some of the Husband’s staples. Did you know Crunch Berries are my favorite cereal?
Totally joking, but it is the Husband’s favorite! I can’t deprive him all of the time — a girl’s got to give in to make her husband happy every once in a while!
After the store, I headed to meet Katie for one of my favorite meals — sushi! Katie was an awesome friend and drove all the way to the suburbs to hang out with me after her 10 mile race in the rain and wind on Saturday. I was happy to see that the restaurant we went to had lunch specials — 3 rolls for $10.95!
I chose two vegetarian and one avocado — all of which were amazing. Katie and I both agreed that the people who worked at the restaurant probably wanted to give us a lesson in how to eat sushi — we weren’t the most graceful, that’s for sure!
After lunch, we went over to a theater down the road. We originally planned to see Titanic in 3-D, but earlier in the week I convinced her that we should go see Lucky One (okay, I didn’t have to do much convincing!).

I don’t care what the critics said, this movie was AWESOME. It was a total chick flick, but it wasn’t overly corny and had some twists and turns in the plot. I absolutely loved it, and not only because Zac Efron was not wearing his shirt for a long period of time. I definitely put it as a second runner up to my all time favorite movie The Notebook. Yes, it was that good!
After Katie and I parted ways, I went to Trader Joe’s to pick up the rest of my groceries for the week and went home and made some dinner for the Husband and me. It was a cold and rainy day on Saturday (like 45 degrees — yuck!), so I thought that a last pot of soup for the cold months was a good idea. I made a huge pot of loaded cabbage soup for the two of us!
I also ate a bagel topped with avocado and hummus. During dinner, we dueled at a game that required a lot of strategy — none of which I have.
It was so much fun to play a game while we ate dinner! I really enjoyed it, and I think we’re going to make it a normal occurrance around here! The Husband won the first game (obviously — he’s awesome at games). After he showed me some strategic pointers, I won the second game by ONE tile space — WAHOO! Victory is all mine!
The rest of the night was spent watching Dear John on TV and updating a few things around the blog!
My “about me” page was in desparate need of updating — I still have to add a few things, but for the most part I’m happy with it. I also added a drop down menu under the “chelsey” tab. If you click directly on “chelsey”, it will take you to my about me, but if you go to “contact”, you can contact me directly without having to email me from your inbox. If you go to “gluten free”, you can read about my journey with going gluten free (again, still needs some work) along with some resources for a gluten free lifestyle!
I’m hopefully going to be making a few other changes once the summer months come along (like finally putting all of my recipes in Recipage!) — if you have any other suggestions or anything else you’d like to see to navigate around these parts a little easier, please let me know!
Have a great Monday!
