Happy Wednesday!
Just kidding, it’s Thursday. Did I get you there for a minute? Did your heart skip a beat? Or did you instead just think I was the crazy lady who can’t get my days right?
Don’t answer that.
I know I told you I was going to make up for my lack of a WIAW post yesterday, and here we go! Minus a picture of my breakfast because I forgot…. don’t judge me. It was oats in an almond butter jar. Does anyone else find it seriously alarming that I go through a jar of almond butter every single week? That has to be a ridiculous amount of almond butter consumption.
On my way to school, I picked up an iced coffee from Starbuck’s. Something told me I would need a little extra boost yesterday since I would be gone for 13 hours and because I could not peel myself out of bed yesterday morning.
This morning the entire fifth grade had an hour long music practice for their spring show in a few weeks. While they were practicing, I rearranged my entire room. I have not liked the layout for the last two years, and I finally found something I like. I did, however, work up a sweat on the hottest day ever — it was 84 degrees out today!
When lunch came around, I was ready to eat. I headed up some leftover pasta from Tuesday night. I also had an unpictured pear. (I just wrote “pair”, “pear”, and “pare” and couldn’t figure out how it’s spelled — d’oh)
The whole day yesterday at school cracked me up — the kids were basically going bonkers because of the warm weather ad they had a Spanish performance that night. Not to mention, we participated in “The Great American Grump Out” (a take on “the Great American Smoke Out”). There was no grumping allowed — that meant no complaining, no moaning, no groaning — only smiling. If someone was found grumping, their consequence was smiling. We had a list going on the board of who was grumping — I made the list once. I had to smile for a minute straight after I complained. It was fun to play along.
During the afternoon, I ate a Luna Protein bar that was sent to me — I didn’t eat this one. I ate the Cookie Dough bar. These bars are gluten free and have 12 grams of protein and are mighty tasty.
Buuut the bar did not agree with my stomach. It may have been the soy protein in there or the fact that there’s a little dairy in the bar. I still loved it though.
I had to hang around town until 7:00 for the Spanish performance, so I decided to take that opportunity to go get my nails and toes done. I went to the BEST nail salon ever — they gave incredible massages. I even got a shoulder massage as my nails were drying. If that’s not customer service, I don’t know what is. I will be returning.
I was also the lonely girl (not really lonely) who ate Chipotle all by her lonesome and didn’t have anything to do because her phone died after this picture was taken and her kindle was also dead. Lame.
After singing along as an audience member to the 5th Grade Spanish Show, I came home, took a shower (it was hot and sweaty all day long), and popped a squat on the couch with my snack.
And now I have to make lunches and go to bed.
Oh, and I ate copious amounts of chocolate today in the forms of Trader Joe’s Nibs and a Calcium Adora Disk.
Just thought you should know.

your sandals are SO cute!!
Thanks! They’re from Target!
I love the nail polish colour you went with!! Makes me wanna get mine done now!
OPI Pink Flaminco I think!
Of course OPI! I naturally love them! haha
That nail salon sounds amazing! A should massage too? Awesome!
It was quite nice!
The mint chocolate Luna bar is my favorite. Like candy! Except it always makes my stomach feel gassy which kind of stinks. I love the idea of the Great American Grump Out! I think I need to have one of those myself
I just had that bar the other day - that one was good too but Cookie Dough still wins in my book!
You didn’t have your almonds and raisins!!! That luna bar sounds good, we should do a foodie swap sometime, we can’t get Luna Bars in Ireland
ha! I know - switching it up!
I LOVE the idea of having a great American grump out!! Yesterday was one of those days when I felt like all I did was yell at my kids. They were driving me INSANE. This would be the perfect way to end the week on a bright note!
Aren’t those days the WORST??!?!
my kids are taking a field trip to the zoo tomorrow, so i’m sure they’ll be bonkers! i love your idea of the great american grump out!!
Fun! I love field trips!
Those days can be so long at school- those are the days where I really do feel like I live at school. (especially when I eat all three meals there…. on those days)
YAY for having a room arrangement that you like, the Grump Out Day, pretty toes! (and sandals), a massage, and a sing along! You had a great day- even if it was long and hot— very productive, Ms Chlesey!
Happy Thursday!
I made a point to get out of there and grab some dinner - it broke up the day a lot more!
Love the toes! Happy to hear you only made the board once. I may suggest doing that where I work-I would have been on the board A LOT yesterday.
I can’t keep my days of the week straight either-can’t you make it Friday?
At first the kids wanted to put me up there for “yelling”, and then the other fifth grade teacher and I decided that was a teaching strategy, not a grumping offense.
What school do you work at?
Unfortunately I don’t feel comfortable sharing that information!
If you would have told me it was Monday I probably would have believed you! LoL it’s been a long week.
“The Great American Grump Out” sounds awesome! I wish I’d known about that in my days of teaching swimming in high school! Kids + cold water = a LOT of grumping
ha! I used to love swimming in high school because I was a swimmer and it was the only sports unit I was good at!
I just tried the Lara cookie dough bar for the first time yesterday and I really liked it. I don’t always like protein bars, but that one was super tasty!
I liked it too - unfortunately my stomach did not!
Haha! I love the idea of a “grump out”! That is so cute for the kids!
No shame on going through the whole jar of almond butter in a week-I do too!! It makes everything better
Glad I’m not the only one!
What was in your snack?! Looks delicious!
It was diced apple, raisins, LOVE, almond milk, and almond butter!
What was your night snack? It looks yummy!
Diced apple, raisins, LOVE, almond milk, and almond butter!
Don’t worry, I eat Chipotle alone every night when I get my break. I’m on the cash register so typically I either have break before or after everyone else. And all my friends work, so there’s nobody to text! But I can’t complain, though (I love the grump out challenge-I need to tell my little brother’s teacher to do it!) I love my job and get free Chipotle every night. Win-win. :]
Free Chipotle? That’s amazing!!!
ha! i love the great american grump out idea. it sounds like you have such a fun time with your kiddos. that’s awesome. ahh i love you and your love for chipotle!
I’m a little burnt out right now - I ate it four times in the last week. Ha!
I’m always eating at places like Chipotle by myself (only it’s Qdoba. LOVE Qdoba!). Sometimes my kindle is the best company when I go out to eat. Sounds like you had an eventful day!
Your nails look gorgeous! I am so excited to treat myself to a pedicure after my half marathon on Sunday, I need one bad! My poor feet are screaming for a little lovin!
Thanks! My nails needed some loving!
I had trouble with “pear” this morning while I was typing up my NatureBox post!
How weird that we both had trouble with it today!
Cute pedicure and I haven’t had those Luna bars in ages but when the first came out a few years back, the cookie dough one was really hard to find; it was always sold out everywhere I went. Ahhh, the memories
LOVE the grump game. And this weather!? Um YAAAAYYYY!!!!! It’s making studying pleasant! I got up and ran at 5:30 this morning and it was HOT! Love, love, love it. Have a good day!
I <3 your sandals!
Thanks - they are from Target!
Confession: I often go through two almond butter jars a week (TJ’s crunchy unsalted!). I keep waiting for my taste buds to get sick of it, but it has yet to happen. Shockingly, the mass almond-butter consumption hasn’t affected my weight, so I take this as proof that almond butter has super-healthy-non-weight-gain powers. Makes sense, right?
I don’t feel quite as bad now.
I love the american grump out idea! I’ll have to try that the next time I’m babysitting my nieces and nephews, lol.
Spring fever!! Love weather like that
I bet you are an awesome teacher. The grump game was such a clever idea and a great way to get the kids smiling. I’m jealous of the weather though- that sounds amazing! And your sandals and pedi are so cute! Love the color combo! I am in serious need of a pedicure!
Thanks Emily!
Oh, Chipotle. I crave it at least once a week, and every time you talk about it, I crave it more
.
I’ve had it four times in the last week (!!!!) so I’m a little burnt out right now - ha!
Your sandals are so cute and in my favorite color! I would return to that place to just for another massage!
I will be returning there! It was awesome service!
Chelsea, I seriously wish I’d had a teacher like you in grade school. You rock. That is all - Jasper
haha! Thanks Jasper!
You nail polish colour is adorable! I want. Haha, I love the sounds of the grump game. I should play that with my sister whenever she’s in her grumpy mood
somehow I don’t think it would work as well with her though. I wish there was a chipotle here. I am sure missing out, between no TJ’s, whole foods, or chipotle, its like I’m living in a cave.
That is quite upsetting - I’m sorry to hear that your cave doesn’t have those fun places!!
I’m dying to know what that snack is!
apple, raisins, granola, almond butter, almond milk!
Love your sandals-and your pink pedicure!
Tomorrow is Friday-no jokes about that!!!
Thanks Amanda! The sandals are from Target!
I, too, can go through a TJ jar of almond butter in a week, so so good!!!! I know I need to start making my own, but it’s so easy to just buy a jar. Now I want some dark chocolate and almond butter…..mmm. Happy Friday!
DOn’t worry I made my own jar since then and have polished it off.
I don’t count Adora in my chocolate consumption .. I mean we HAVE to have calcium right??
Love your sandals
We sure do have to have our calcium!
There is nothing wrong with eating obscene amounts of chocolate in one day. You want to know what I get three times a day? Iced coffee with sugar-free mocha. Do you want to know how much chocolate that is? A LOT. No shame. I regret nothing.
haha Love it!
A lot of protein bars don’t agree with my stomach either! blah I hate when that happens because those bars taste so dang good! Luna and thinkthin are my favorite. Larabar is good too! But I also go through copious amounts of nutbutters a week. Just because I feel like anything I eat will just taste better with some nutbutter on it! and also maybe because I just take a spoon to them sometimes!
I do love larabars! They definitely do not hurt my stomach!
I love the fact that you stay late to watch your students’ shows! I stayed for an awards night for my seniors on Tuesday this week, and totally should have gone with your idea to get a pedicure in-between
Love those sandals!
