sunshine and sniffles

May 16, 2012

Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday! I’m still a bit congested, but feeling a lot better than I have been for the last few days. I was glad I had another dentist appointment in the morning, so I was already planning on staying home for the day. Let’s get the show on the road!

Peas and Crayons

Breakfast 7:00 AM

Return of the pancakes made with almond flour! On Monday I got a really nice package from the Almond Board of California full of blanched almonds, almond flour, and individual servings of raw almonds. I was so excited because my almond flour had been out for a few weeks and I was on the verge of buying more!

I also drank a huge glass of orange juice. Orange juice typically turns me off, but yesterday it sounded so good. Don’t tell the Husband I drank some.

After breakfast I took Charlie for a walk, and then it was time for me to go to the dentist. Another tooth drilled = no fun. When I left the dentist, I stopped by Starbuck’s for a mid morning snack around 11:00 because I was already hungry and couldn’t chew for a few hours because my mouth was numb. I stopped by my sister’s house so my mom could cut my hair and I could play with the baby.

When I got home, I got to work outside — stopping, of course, every five minutes to blow my nose. I weeded half of my garden (it took over an hour!), and then planted some vegetables.

Charlie and I enjoyed the 80 degree sunshine!

Lunch 2:00 PM

I was famished by the time my mouth was not numb anymore. I put together a mock Chipotle bowl and was eating when my brother stopped over to visit. We talked for a while, and then he helped me weed the rest of my garden — score!

Snack/Dinner? 5:00 PM

I had to babysit last night, so before I left I drank another glass of orange juice (the Husband is going to be angry when he reads this — ha!) and I ate two pieces of the cinnamon chip bread from Great Harvest — one slice with almond butter and one slice with coconut oil + sea salt (best combo ever.).

When I got home around 10:30, I ate another piece of bread and some chips + hummus.

Such a balanced day… I’m eating more vegetables today.

Hope you feel better soon! And don’t worry, balanced eating is for days where you’re feeling good. Sick days call for eating whatever you feel like!

Isn’t it the best feeling int the world to get the plants in the ground?! …I could hear my husband saying something if I drank all of his milk (it’s like his O J) . Then, I could hear me saying ‘I’m pretty sure they have more at the store. Don’t ya think?’ ….Take care!

Those pancakes look delicious. A sweet smelling pastry type smell also wafted into my office at the same time I was looking at that picture, so I felt like I could smell them! Perhaps someone in my office brought in treats? Off to investigate…

I’m glad you’re feeling better!

This post reminded me that I need to get cracking on planning my garden. I keep putting it off because I can’t decide on what I want to plant!

Hi! I’m curious what you eat at starbucks for your snack, I just did a gluten free diet for a month (and I’m vegetarian also) and found when I went to starbucks I would usually get a soy coffee misto to tie me over because I don’t really eat dairy either and they didn’t always have fruit and stuff :) .

I’m guessing the OJ is typically your husband’s? ;) My husband just loovves when I eat his Life cereal haha!

Anyway, I’ve been meaning to try almond flour in baking. I suspect I’ll like the texture! Your pancakes look perfect

I’m not big on OJ, usually, either. However, when I was pregnant, I remember it always sounded good! So weird! :)
