fun facts friday

June 15, 2012

1. Today is my “day off” – I have laundry to do, and a house to clean. Aaaand maybe an hour or two of curriculum work to finally wrap up. I’m totally feeling a TGIF today.

2. Do you know what’s harder than walking up a hill by yourself? Walking up a hill with a dog and a stroller. Yowzers.

3. Yesterday on my day with Miss Aubrey, we had a play date with her cousin Mia. So, basically they stared at each other, tried to touch each other, and that’s about it.

4. Yesterday we were over at the Husband’s grandparents house for dinner. After dinner we played cards. We then noted how the next generation of kids will probably never play cards – they’ll just sit with their iPads across from one another and play Words with Friends. That’s so sad.

5. I’m going to an outlet mall on Monday – watch out Coach.

6.Someone asked me to keep you all updated on the books I’ve already ready off of my reading list for the summer. So far I’ve finished the Harry Potter series (I had to read Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half Blood Prince, and The Deathly Hallows). I don’t know why I never read those books before. I seriously did not want them to end. I also am in the middle of Fifty Shades Darker, and I read The Art of Hearing Heartbeats (a quick read – pretty good!). Wow, I just made myself look like I have no life. Whatever.

7. I think my zucchini and spaghetti squash plants are doubling in size every single day. It’s ridiculous.

8. I am planning on enjoying the 96 degree weather this weekend from the comfort of my air conditioning. It should be nice.

9. By the time I wake up, this should have been posted for well over an hour. (fingers crossed!) That means I want all of you to tell me what I should eat for breakfast. Ready… GO!

10. Happy Friday!

I have wonderful memories of playing cards with my cousins, aunts, and grandmother (who just passed away in March). Jealous that you’ll have a big stash of spaghetti squash - let me know if you need me to take any off your hands. ;) Have a great Friday!

I’m voting for an oatmeal yogurt mess: raw oats, Greek yogurt, protein powder, some fruit, chia seeds and nut butter :)

Will has been trying to convince me to go back and read the Harry Potter series, but hasn’t succeeded because I’m nervous that I just wont find it interesting this late in the game! I guess I just feel like I missed the HP bandwagon when it came and went. But I’m glad to hear you liked it- Maybe that will up his chances :D

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:45 pm

But they’re SOOOOO good. I felt that way too, but I’m so glad I read them all!

My mom has a huge garden, and I can’t wait for her zucchinis to get full size! I’ve never really been a zucchini eater, but I have a feeling this year will be different (thanks to Pinterest!)
Happy Friday!

I did actually eat pancakes! :)

Yay you finished Harry potter!! And we need to get together sometime! You should take a trip to the city! We’ve got some air conditioning here too! Oh and speaking of, I have a run Saturday morning at 6am and it will be at least 75 degrees already when I start…

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:44 pm

We’ll work out plans later next week for exact details on our date next weekend!!

Angie @ Pint of Goals June 15, 2012 at 6:43 am

I am jealous that you already have vegetables! I only have lettuce right now but my tomato and pepper plants grow bigger each day.
I think you should have pancakes (Do you have gluten-free mix?) for breakfast - the perfect way to start a Friday.
Have a good weekend in your air conditioned house! I will be in Chicago for a wedding with a suit-wearing, sweating husband :)

Seeing young children interact with eachother- AW! It is so interesting- and cute in an awkward and innocent sort of way; I love it! :)
I am SO jealous of your garden plants doubling in size- I’ve replanted twice and the wind has been crazy hard on them within 48 hours BOTH times. Cherish your lovely little and growing plants!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:41 pm

Oh no!!! That’s so sad about your garden!

Okay, and PS - every time I see pictures of you on your weekly pregnancy updates, I get kind of freaked out because we look insanely similar. Like, I seriously feel like I’m looking at myself pregnant (I’m not, obviously). It’s ridiculous.

I love that picture of the babies. Absolutely adorable!!

You have probably already eaten breakfast by now, but I had yogurt and granola with peaches, pineapple, and blueberries. Followed by a piece of cake batter blondie. Balanced, right? ;)

Glad it’s not just me who was shocked by the size of spaghetti squash! I saw some at a grocery store that looked the size of a small watermelon. Complete shock! I don’t know why, but I always eat spaghetti squash in the fall. Maybe because I normally make it with other “fall” items? Or because I serve it warm? I definitely need to get some though at this size!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:39 pm

Mine aren’t grown yet -the plant is just doubling in size every day. I’d say probably in about a month I’ll have some!!

Reply

Becky June 15, 2012 at 8:45 am

Did laundry yesterday. It’s the job that never actually seems to get done. I’m just proud I put the clothes away for once. That NEVER happens!

Awesome about your squash plants! I couldn’t get mine to grow last year, so this year I’m just doing tomatoes, peppers and herbs (two types of mint, basil and stevia).

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:38 pm

I PUT CLOTHES AWAY RIGHT AWAY AS WELL!!! That is a huge feat for me.

I’d seriously eat Miss Aubrey’s face for breakfast. (in a completely non bath salts/non creepy way of course). She is too cute, and that picture is priceless!
TGIF!

ha! I believe you that you’re not creepy! My cousin’s caption for that photo on FB is “Sit up straight girls - or no bottles!” Hilarious.

I love a good old card game night with friends/family! Except for Cheat. I feel like that game never works out - none of my friends can ever keep a straight face! :P

That is the cutest picture of the two little ones!

Until I had a baby, I didn’t realize that interactive play rather than just parallel play doens’t happen until much, much later :) And those two are the most adorable little girls…so sweet! Love all the pink!

And not playing cards & playing iphone games..yes, sad but true.

Reply

It’s worth it just to get them to sit together and take a few pictures - ha!

Anna @ The Guiltless Life June 15, 2012 at 11:26 am

I love playing cards! But yes, there are a few things I think are dying traits which makes me sad. I also am really sad that our generation only has nightclubs to dance in - I have this huge desire to go to one of those old-school dance halls on a Friday night and just dance the night away without drunk people falling over me all the time..!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:37 pm

haha I can’t say we had dance halls when we were younger!

Have a great weekend!

I come from a card playing family too — everything from Rummy to Gin, to Spite & Malice to one that I think my grandfather made up called “Manipulation,” a variation on Rummy. Even when it was just the cousins as kids, we’d play Slap Jack, War, or just Go Fish. We also played a lot of Yahtzee! Sigh…..wonderful memories.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:35 pm

I love Rummy 500 - that’s my favorite!

Lisa June 15, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Happy Friday! When I was a nanny, I always took the kids on daily walks (when weather permitted) and we have so many hills here, I was dyinggg by the end of those walks. It is killer to push a stroller up those hills. Agree about Harry Potter books, they are so good, I was so sad once I finished the last one. My summer reading list included re-reading the series! I’m so excited for your plants coming in! Is that lame? That’s so exciting.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:35 pm

I babysit three days a week for two boys as well and we take their double stroller out for at least 45 minutes every day I’m there. It’s killer!

Reply

Amber K June 15, 2012 at 1:26 pm

Wow, I hadn’t thought about the fact that many kids don’t even know what cards are. Makes me want to go haul my older niece and nephew out of school so I can teach them solitare, war, and cribbage - which are the only card games I can even think of right now. lol

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:34 pm

We played 7UP the other night. It was so much fun!

Reply

Alyssa @ Life of bLyss June 15, 2012 at 1:34 pm

oh my God, that photo is awesome. aaand how are you liking 50 shades?! I’m on the third book and really struggling to get through it.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:34 pm

I’m on the second book and I like that it is much more about their relationship and figuring out why he’s so messed up.

Reply

Lindsay @ Fuel My Family June 15, 2012 at 1:36 pm

Pushing a stroller is no joke! I ran this morning with my double stroller and it was so windy…killer!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:33 pm

Okay I don’tknow how I could do running with one. Yikes! You are a rock star.

Reply

Talia @ Bite Size Wellness June 15, 2012 at 2:31 pm

I love cards and board games. Reminds me of time with my grandpa.
I’m about to finish 50 Shades Darker. Pretty much the same paragraphs could be copy and pasted at the end of every sexy scene. It is getting old, fast.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:33 pm

ha I agree - however, I think they are fewer and farther in between in the second book.

Reply

Leonor June 15, 2012 at 7:35 pm

How cute are they?! Oh my word. Playdates aren’t really “play dates” until kids are around 2-3. Before that they only care about themselves.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey June 16, 2012 at 5:33 pm

ha! I was surprised my goddaughter actually got mad that Aubrey was stealing her toys. She kept trying to get them back.

I do - it’s much more about their relationship and much less about those risque scenes!
