4 things for the 4th

July 4, 2012

1. If you really want for your air conditioning to break, you should probably write about how much you love your air conditioning on a 100 degree day. Don’t jinx yourself like I did folks. Yesterday morning our poor AC went kaput. It was just working a tad bit too hard. Thankfully I was able to sweet talk the owner of a company to get out here yesterday afternoon, so we’re back in business with a new furnace blower. Done and done.

2. I picked a few awesome things from my garden yesterday – specifically some okra and russet potatoes. It made for a great dinner. I was quite excited.

3. Inspired by the infamous Molly, the Husband and I are trying to teach Charlie how to play dead when we say “Bang!!”. Katie showed me how Molly knows that trick when I went to go visit her a few weekends ago.  Uhh, this is going to be a long process.

4.I’m taking the rest of the week off, and you should too! Have a fun and safe holiday weekend! :)

I can’t believe you grew your own potatoes!!! That is so awesome! I didn’t think of planting them because I figured they took to long to grow…but now I know better! Definitely have to pick some of those up for next summer!

Good luck with charlie! If I remember, the key was to slowly get him to go back, praising him bit by bit, and guiding him with the treat.

Good luck! My husband tries with our dog as his parents’ could do the trick. However Pete just pees himself every time my husband says BANG. haha. Don’t think it’s going to happen for us!

Another crazy hot day here in Toronto!
I teach summer school to Grade 8 students….slightly hard to focus…for EVERYONE!!

Anyways, felt like nachos and cheese today!
Here is what I came up with!

Corn Chips - http://www.quepasafoods.com/products.htm

‘Cheese’ - http://www.daiyafoods.com/

‘Sour Cream’ - http://www.tofutti.com/

Salsa- I would usually make my own but I broke my ankle last Thursday sooo Old El Paso it is!

Sprinkled with some lentils!

Enjoy!

I am in the Chicago Suburbs also, living through this uncomfotable heat. My air conditioner broke last night while we were out watching fireworks. Sleeping last night was aweful in the heat. Glad you got your air fixed. I was lucky enough to know someone who could fix it for me so I did not have to pay “holiday fees” for a repair man today. Stay cool!

It was brutal here too yesterday - I couldn’t imagine being without AC, even for only part of the day. Thank goodness they were able to fix it quickly! :D

Hope you had a great 4th of July!

Ugh no! Not the air conditioning! Good thing it got fixed in this heat. I wish I could take the rest of the week off - at least the Wednesday off sort of broke up the week. Happy long weekend!

May I PLEASE come over and have some garden delicacies? ;-) Good for you for taking the week off. Enjoy it, babe! <3

My dog does bang, too! Except for she’s still with my Dad. =( I miss her!
lol We don’t have AC in our place…it’s not good I get very jealous when others talk about AC. haha And I LOVE that you have a garden! I need to start one, because when you are Celiac it is garden food that you really need but stores skyrocket the prices just because they are organic or gluten free. :/

Definitely need to plant me some potatoes for next season! Are they hard to grow?

Reply

Kylie @ immaeatthat July 8, 2012 at 10:59 pm

I’m sure Charlie will catch on to the ‘Bang!’ trick quick! We taught our dogs to ‘bow’ (stretch out their front paw and lean backwards like they do whenever the get up from a nap) whenever we say ‘Yoga’…it’s pretty funny. We just started saying ‘yoga’ to them every time they were stretching after a nap and they caught on:) I’m sure Charlie would catch on quick too:)
