1. True story: I had this ENTIRE post written out, was about to press publish, and then my computer went psychotic. I’m not happy at all. It was SO good – like probably the best FFF I have ever written. Now it’s just going to be crap. I can just feel it… ugggggghhhhh.
2. I have decided I would like to transport the pool and some palm trees from Mexico into my backyard. At the end of a vacation, I’m always eager to get back into real life (who am I???), but if I could do real life with a pool in my backyard, I’d be okay with it. The Husband might approve this if I also transport the swim up bar with unlimited drinks as well.
3. Does anyone else feel the need to unpack like the SECOND you walk through the door from a vacation? I am a speed unpacker. I cannot stand it when suitcases just hang out in bedrooms/hallways for days on end (ever see that Everybody Loves Raymond episode? Please watch that. I swear it’s my life- ahahahaha!). Ugh, no thank you. On Wednesday night when we got home, I had unpacked, gotten the laundry started, and had sat down on my couch all within thirty minutes. It was fabulous.
4. I’m seriously doing HORRIBLE on this whole no coffee thing. As in, I have not been doing it at all. As in, I’ve been going to Starbuck’s like every day for the last month. So, not only have I been drinking the java, I’ve also been spending money – but not really because most of them were birthday presents. But I need to get better – like, now. No more coffee for me. Okay, I say this fully knowing I’m going to fail. (when I was writing this earlier, I was drinking a venti – I suck.)
5. I went to SCHOOL yesterday – school, as in… work. I have one week to get my classroom in tip top shape and ready for 24 5th graders. Where did my summer go!?
6. When the Husband and I have children, I have no idea how I’m going to ever leave them to go on vacation-or just in general. I missed my Charlie baby way too much on vacation. I even emailed my mom to see how he was doing. I’m a freak. And he missed his mama and dad – he’s been following us around since we got home.
7. Best. Swag. Ever.Love the LOVE!!!
8. Apparently I miss pumpkin? I think I just wish it were fall already. Bring on the skinny jeans and boots! Please ignore the chipped manicure.
9. Yesterday I was sad that I couldn’t go over to see Aubrey since I had to go into school, so my mom brought her over to my house after they ran some errands. Girl was a hot crabby mess and wouldn’t even let her Auntie Chelsey hold her. I was pretty sad – although she did give out some sweet kisses. She better not be mad at me because I can’t babysit her anymore! I’m going to miss our Thursdays together. ::tear::
10. Happy Friday! Enjoy your weekend!

I am the same way about wanting to do EVERYTHING I possibly can the moment we walk in the door from vacation!
haha I want to get it done FAST so I can relax!
I’ve been trying to run in the mornings without coffee, and it hasn’t been much fun at all. I got used to being able to get up in the morning, drink my coffee, and then go work out. Having the summer off is so nice, but it spoils me, and sometimes makes it harder to go back!!
I’m going to try to go the green tea route!
I’ve been getting some cravings for pumpkin too lately! I have two cans in my pantry but I’ve been tryyyyying to hold off.
It’s okay if you can’t say no.
I am a complete unpacker the second I walk in the door! I never understood how people can leave their suitcases out for weeks after a trip. Mine is unpacked, laundered and put away all before I sit down.
Loving the new Love Grown shirts! So cute!
And I was just thinking about pumpkin the other day. My rule is usually I don’t open one up until end of September because once I start, it doesn’t end until next spring.
Happy Friday love!
haha I don’t know if I’m quite ready for it yet - I had some in my oats yesterday and was like “meh”.
I’m so with you on where did the Summer go. I went back to work last week and it just isn’t right. I think I’m ready for fall too. Yesterday, I caught myself dreaming up pumpkin recipes.
Nothing wrong with that!!
I saw the massive cans (not the regular sized ones) of Libby on clearance at Target a few weeks ago. I almost snagged one, but was like, “what am I thinking? It’s July and I never use even a regular-sized can all at once!”
It was the most restraint I’ve ever practiced at Target. Like ever.
There will be no restraint practiced at Target. How could you!?
I am totally the same as you about coming home from vacation! The last trip I took I had laundry in the second I got home!
Ahhh I cannot wait for fall! This heat is just unbearable. LOVE the love tank!
We’re getting a nice break in Chicago for the next few days - 75 and sunny! Perfect!
Note: You will LOVE vacations away from the kids. It will be hard the first….oh 30 seconds after you leave them, then you will do a happy dance. Trust me. Although not near as happy a happy dance as when the good news comes that I’m still praying for. 63 days and you’re getting the BIGGEST hug from me!
Woohooo big hugs!!! I believe you on the whole missing them for 30 seconds but then liking a break. With Charlie, I don’t have to do much. He just lays there. With children, they’re some work. haha!
I’ve been craving pumpkin too! I’m trying to hold off until the end of August though! Eating pumpkin oatmeal when it’s 90 degrees outside just seems weird to me haha.
overnight oats with pumpkin are the BESSSTTTT!
The no coffee thing stinks! I tried it for a month and I failed miserably. I miss pumpkin too but you know what I’m making pumpkin oats tomorrow. Haha. Have a great Friday! I miss fall
I did good today - and didn’t even get a headache! I think the green tea helped.
The exact same thing happened to me yesterday with my post and I almost went crazy! So frustrating!!!
Ahhh school already?! How did this happen?! I’ve been putting off going into my classroom, but next week, it’s a must!
Love love love the shirt!!! Where can i find one?
I’m not sure! I got it as as LOVE Blogger, but I can ask Maddy if they are available to purchase!
As much as I love summer, fall is my favorite season. I cannot waiy for jeans, boots, sweaters and pumpkin!
Agreed x 4.
I miss pumpkin too! I’ve been making pumpkin everything lately..with only fresh pumpkins here in Ireland it means a hell of a lot of dicing, slicing, peeling and blending!
Oh wow! That’s too much work! Could you get anything shipped from Amazon or something?
I have in the past. There is one shop here that gets it in for October and I stock up for a while then!
I just could not give up coffee, I have been drinking it since I was like 12!! we have to leave our puppy for the first time in September for a long weekend and I know I am going to have such a hard time! I can’t believe summer is almost over!
I think I started on frappaccinos when I was like 13 - I didn’t really get into drinking coffee until college!
OMG! I also unpack the second I get home… usually. Simply because I HATE unpacking so much that it makes me insanely crabby when I see the mess to unpack. When I got back from my weekend at home in Minneapolis last weekend I was too busy to unpack for (GASP) 24ish hours. I wasn’t even really home to see the mess but I thought of it the entire time I was at work. I am a special person : )
I agree - if I don’t do it the second I walk through the door, I’ll stare at it fordays.
I have been giving up coffee for the last couple of years. I can quit for a few months, switch to decaf (which is so bad for you), quit altogether, but it only takes like 1 or 2 cups of real coffee for me to jump right back on the bandwagon. I’ve gotten really good at quitting though. I try to look at the bigger picture: this year I only spent like 3 months drinking coffee so far. One day I will only drink coffee around the holidays, the maybe only Christmas and Thanksgiving day. Who knows.
hahah we could be the same person!!! Although I’m giving it up for fertility reasons - no, I’m not pregnant!
Good luck getting your classroom ready! Two of my friends are first year teachers and they started school this week. I feel bad for them because they’ve been putting in tons of hours trying to get everything done!
Yeah the first year is the WORST! Then of course, my second year I switched schools and had to do it all again!
Giving up coffee is so.hard. Yep, so.goshdarn. hard. ……It was always a comfort for me and it warmed my ALWAYS cold body!
booo! To top it off, I’m still missing teachers edition books for the next grade I’ll be teaching and just got my class list so now I have to slap names on everything quickly. Ugh. …..However, I REALLY miss my kids- hardcore miss my kids!
School is coming up SO quickly! I have been at school every day since the beginning of August.
Have a wonderful Friday! Go kiss that sweet niece today (it will probably be a non hot mess day since she had that one yesterday)
It sure is! You’ve only got a little while longer! When is that little nugget due?
August 22nd! …..Sooooooo close! I actually just got back from the baby shower!
Oooh that classroom shot makes me so giddy and excited and a little bit barfy…all at the same time. Good luck getting it all in order!
haha I have the same feelings exactly!
what’s funny is all my pumpkin-recipe posts have been seeing a significant upturn in views the past 2 weeks - you are not the only person with pumpkin on the brain!
and you rewrote this whole post after a crash? ugh. I have been there. Worst feeling ever! Duplicate effort much?
It was the WORST.
PS -I enjoyed seeing a new picture of Skylar the other day. She’s getting so big!
Oh yes, I’m right there with you on #2 and #3. We are crazy together.
Of course.
I already bought a can of pumpkin in excitement for fall too! I’m not digging the fact that school is starting again but bring on the skinny jeans, oversize sweaters, & pumpkin oats please!
I work at Bath and Body Works, and we got our fall scents out a couple weeks ago. I’m enjoying the cozy feeling/smells in the store, but then I walk outside and it’s 95-100 degrees. I’m ready for cold, dreary, cozy, candle weather with thick socks and quilts. Anyone else?
I love the soaps there!
AHHH! Don’t wish it would be fall! It’s still WARM and I LOVE IT. Fall will come soon enough. AHHH Now I have that word in my head! SUMMER SUMMER SUMMER SUMMER. There, better.
I know - I love summer too!!! Although this weather today made me feel all nice and cozy!
I HAVE to unpack and do laundry the second I get home. I spent the first month of the summer in Ireland, and after being on a plane since the wee hours of the morning, spending 2 hours on the train from O’Hare, and driving an hour and 40 minutes home I STILL unpacked and did laundry! And I missed my kitty so much while I was gone. My boyfriend told me he would lay by the door and every time he heard someone come in the outer apartment building door, he would perk up and go over to the door and then a minute later when he realized it wasn’t me, he’d sadly go back to his spot. It’s just too hard to leave him!
That’s hardcore. Both stories.
Chelsea what resort did you go to? The hubs and I are looking into going to Mexico and looking for resort suggestions!
We went to Secrets Capri in Riviera Maya -I’ll talk more about it next week. However, we also went there for our honeymoon, so I already have some stuff written up about it in my Travel tab!
awwww classrooms!! My sister is preparing for her student teaching lol I know, I miss my cats so much when I’m away
I have to unpack right away too. There have been a few times I haven’t, but it really creates major anxiety.
I am so glad it is almost pumpkin season!! I made your pumpkin granola bars today, and may be mentioning them in a future post on my blog:) I haven’t tried them yet (they are still cooling), but I am sure they will be delicious:)
I forgot about those!!!! They are the BEST!
No waiting for fall for this girl- I’ve been using canned pumpkin prettyyyy much every single day for the entire summer. I just love it!
haha get it girl!
I’m totally back on the pumpkin train for some reason, actually I could go for it anytime per day I think. I just love that stuff.
I can’t do the no coffee thing either. And literally go to starbucks everyday. A tip is to befriend all the people that work there and then they give you free drinks when you come in! I usually can squeeze in at least 1 freebie a week!
Love the shirt! Super cute!!
I hear ya - it’s hard! I think I’ll go down to a few visits a week!
I am such a lazy unpacker!
A bad habit indeed
Just call me anytime you need my services.
I am seriously so ready for Fall! It’s “fall like” here in Michigan, bring on the real thing, I’m ready!
It felt fall like this morning - in the 60′s, which felt COLD compared to our 95 degree norm lately!
Monday it was 95 here, today it barely made it to 65. Crazy, but I love it!
Charlie is so cute! And I’m the same way whenever I have to leave my pug with my parents; I always have to check up on him!
Thank you! He definitely knows it too!
I HATE unpacking. I’ve been home from the Bahamas for a week and our bag is still sitting in our bedroom.packed. I did wash our beach towels & dirty clothes as soon as we got home, but the bag full of clothes we didn’t wear… still sitting on the floor. :::hangsheadinshame:::
Why don’t you make coffee @ home before work? Cheaper that way. I can’t go about my day until i’ve had coffee. I even took the starbucks via packs to the bahamas with us & my tervis tumbler so I was SURE i’d have coffee.
I am ashamed at you. The problem really isn’t spending money at Starbuck’s, the problem is drinking the coffee! I was told by my acupuncturist a while ago it could be hindering our baby making attempts!
Your classroom looks amazing! I just started putting mine back together! What a job…
Thanks! It looks completely different now.I have more students than last year and that set up was not working for me!
I always unpack right after I get home from vacation. I just like my stuff to be where it belongs. My Mom, on the other hand, will leave her stuff in the suitcase for weeks. ha! So I’m not sure where I got that trait from.
I totally agree - everything should have a place!
I am so ready for fall - pumpkin, skinny jeans, warm sweaters, boots…september/october can’t come soon enough!
I have the same OCDness about unpacking as soon as I walk in the door from vacation. I can’t stand having my clothes just sit in a suitcase.
I’m glad I’m not alone!
I’m the same way when it comes to unpacking; I hate everything just sitting out. But I don’t usually get the laundry started. I just throw all of the dirty stuff in a basket and take a nap, lol.
haha also a good choice!
Re: #8 — I cannot wait for fall, especially for weather that is conducive to wearing sweaters & boots! It’s my fave!
Have a great weekend back at home!
Thanks!
Hi!! Your blog is awesome
Your recipes are soo good! I kinda wish it was fall, too……
Thanks Izzy!
Whew! Kudos to you for even TRYING the no-coffee thing. My husband’s doing it, but I haven’t (and will likely never) hopped on that bandwagon!
It’s a hard feat!
I have the Love Grown t-shirt and I love it
they’re so cute!!!
I think so too! I squealed whenI got it!
i never thought id be over summer..but im actually really looking forward to fall too!! i have a few cans of pumpkin just waiting to be eaten
Atta girl!
Okay, just found your blog and LOVE IT! Since switching to clean eating and losing 25lbs, I found I am needing more recipes and motivation!
DaNelle recently posted…The TOP 10 ways to save money, taken from the expert AKA my husband
Thanks!
PS -Ilove your name!
Today was my first day of school! (I’m a 7th grade science teacher) I’m also a first year teacher, so I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed right now. I’m super jealous of your 24 students-I have 160!
Oh wow! You started early!
PS - Good luck! You’ll do great!
How funny - my boyfriend and I just returned from riviera maya this week as well! Hope Ernesto didn’t catch up with you! I made sure to unpack ASAP - the boy’s bag is still in our room, ah!!
Ernesto juuuust missed us, although the weather was crappy the last few days we were there!
PS - I refuse to unpack for my Husband (my favorite line is that “i’m not his mother”), so instead I just make it seem like I’m doing him a favor because I have to “put all of his dirty clothes in the wash”. Works like a charm.
Libby’s is totally the best
I love to pack but hate unpacking! I buy pumpkin every single week and probbably don’t go a day without eating it, I put it in oatmeal, bread, greek yogurt, on toast, and PBJ!
I must, must, must unpack everything the second we get home from vacation. I also go through all the mail, newspapers and random stuff which poos up when you’re away. I can’t actually relax until its all done.
Skinny jeans and boots….chili and bowls of warm soup with crusty (gluten free) bread. Sigh…
I hate when my computer crashes. It always seems to happen right when i’m about to publish! ugh but what a cute tank! And I’m so excited for fall too! yay pumpkin stuff!
Has Flow returned? Can you bear human being children?
I’m a speed unpacker, too. I can’t handle having a suitcase hanging out on my bedroom floor for days. I also can’t stand the fact that we just went shopping and now we have bags hanging around our house. Not a fan!
Good luck with the coffee thing. I found it challenging at first, but I quit cold turkey a few weeks ago and now I’m doing great!!
I love pumpkin too!!! Especially in my cacao pecan pumpkin soft serve — pumpkin can be really addicting.
Wow-can’t believe you’re giving up coffee-I would be a mess! Good for you!!
I’m the complete opposite of #3, I absolute hate packing and unpacking so I put it off as long as possible. I think I’ve gone a full 2 weeks before without unpacking my bags.
I’m also so excited for fall! Pumpkin, pretty leaves, cool weather, I can’t wait!
That shirt is SUPER cute!
I am definitely the oppositve of you in terms of unpacking…I went on vacation in June and am still just taking things out of my suitcase as I need them…I’m sure I’ll be done unpacking in another month or so… : ) I don’t know why my husband married me…
Your dog is so precious! I am the same way when I go on vacation! I just got back from a 5 day trip without my dog (a lab named Cruise) and I missed him the entire time! Luckily, I believe the feeling may have been mutual!
Yay for fall and pumpkin! Anything with pumpkin is pretty much perfection in the fall
