fun facts friday

August 17, 2012

1. I got to meet my kids yesterday. Every year before the first day of school, we have a “Meet the Teacher” event where they get to come and bring in their supplies and meet me. I’m super pumped for this year to start. I feel I am going to have an awesome class.

2. Thanks to FITNESS Magazine for featuring me as their “Fitness Blogger We Love” this week — go check it out!

3. Have you entered my Chobani giveaway yet? You’ve got ONE day left! Go enter it! Last reminder!

4. My little nephew has his first football game on Sunday morning. I am sooooo stinking excited to watch his games from now on.There’s nothing like watching little boy football!

5. Does anyone else’s dogs go absolutely crazy when they get home? Seriously, I thought Charlie would outgrow it, but he’s still a nutcase. He likes to do this run we call his “cheetah run” where he runs so fast outside that his back legs go in front of his front legs. He’s a psycho.

6. I ate so much garlic yesterday I thought it was going to seep out my pores on my wog (walk/jog).

7. Is anyone else mourning the fact that they’re not at the Healthy Living Summit or is it just me?

8. We’ve been sleeping with the windows open for the last week or so — it’s been fantasticly cool in the morning — like 50’s and low 60’s. Awesome.

9. The other night I asked the Husband to give me a kiss goodnight, and he told me it was not looking good because he would have to turn over.I asked him how he thought it would make me feel if a bear ate him in the middle of the night and I didn’t get a kiss goodnight. A bear?! What the heck? I’m so odd.

10. I have a cereal problem. One box of cinnamon Chex (that would be 13 servings) in four nights. I wish I had more self control.

11. It’s the weekend! Happy Friday!

My name is Shana and I am addicted to cereal. Except I’m never going to quit because it’s amazing. I highly recommend you stay away from Barbara’s peanut butter and chocolate puffins :)

#7 - yes. And is it bad to say I’m kind of dreading all of the recap posts for the next week?

lol no - not bad at all! It gets to be a bit much of the same thing!

I hope you have a wonderful school year! Also- I’m so glad to know someone else loves cinnamon chef too. The box lasts just a few days at my house too, and I never put milk on them. They’re just such a tasty snack!

I’m so mourning not being at HLS. I’m making it a priority for next year. Good luck with your class this year!

Thank you! I always try to make it, but it always falls the weekend before school starts!

4 nights, huh? I think you beat me! I’ve slowed down on my cereal consumption and have been switching it up with eggs in the morning, but I still love it! Actually am restocking my collection tonight…

Reply

Tina @ Best Body Fitness August 17, 2012 at 6:58 am

I think we shall just need to have a virtual HLS of our own via Google Chat. Because we’re cool like that. Almost as cool as we are delusional when we think *everyone* will wish they were hanging out with US in October. ;)

Reply

April August 17, 2012 at 8:23 am

YESSSS let’s have our own HLS! I couldn’t go this year either because I work at a university now and it’s move in weekend/the beginning of hell week! I am abstaining from Twitter today to try and lessen the sadness!

Katie @ Peace Love and Oats August 17, 2012 at 7:07 am

Hahaha I’m afraid to buy the flavored Chex cereals for just that reason!

I want to make a joke about the cerealconsumption given the week I’ve had, but I won’t :)

Hooray for a great group of kids!!! :) It is so fun to get to know new kids and start a new year- I love having the ‘meet the teacher’ before the first day of school. We are doing that for the first time this year and I’m crossing my fingers that it goes really well! (over 3/4 of the kids in my class have already had me as their teacher though- they’ll probably bring eggs and rotten vegetables to ‘meet’ me ;) HA! )

Erica @ For the Sake of Cake August 17, 2012 at 7:23 am

I think all dogs do THAT run! When my pug does it, we call it “getting the zoomies.” lol Dog owners are almost as weird as the dogs themselves!

About #7-yes! I’m both excited and dreading all the recap posts to come this next week :)

Ooooh, my Maltese goes nuts when we get home and sprints for the door. Then, when we get back inside he has to lick me for 20 minutes straight :)

Sara August 17, 2012 at 7:35 am

SO glad I’m not the only one loving cinnamon chex! They remind me of cinnamon toast crunch which I can no longer have. I also polished off a box in 4 days…I just keep telling myself that I could be eating something much worse :) plus, I’m training for a marathon, so I need extra carbs, right?! Lol. Have you tried the new apple cinnamon chex? I’m currently working on a box of that!

Reply

Abby @ Change of Pace August 17, 2012 at 7:36 am

That’s really great you get to meet your kids beforehand. I’m sure it gives them less anxiety for the first day of school, too.
My dog also goes insane, but I love it! And congratulations on the Fitness mag feature!

Kendra August 17, 2012 at 8:21 am

Our two dogs go crazy as well when we get home-even if we’ve only been away for a couple hours:) Our 6-month old puppy, a weimaraner/viszla mix, gets especially excited; often, she will run around the house in a frenzy until she crashes into something, which typically slows her down…And yes, the weather has been quite cool here in Naperville as well! I have actually seen people wearing jeans and sweatshirts when I walk our puppy in the early morning-somewhat unusual for August. I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Is your husband related to mine? He has said the same thing to me! He will say he is comfy where he is and to kiss me he would have to move. lol

Kaitlin @4loveofcarrots August 17, 2012 at 8:30 am

congrats on the fitness mag blogger we love! My dog does the sideways butt shake when I come home it is the cutest thing ever, I hope he never grows out of it. You will be missed at HLS, I just bought a ticket on Sunday but luckily I can drive there. Um I would say something weird like that to my boyfriend as well.

Congrats on being featured in Fitness! That’s pretty stinkin’ awesome :D And yeah my dog goes a little nutty whenever she sees me. She’ll do the sprinting thing, and then she’ll get what I like to call noodley… she jumps around and wiggles in ways that make her look like she’s got no bones..

Happy Friday!

I love Chex…chex mix, cereal, using it in bars. Don’t feel bad - we can polish off a box even faster. Lol

And glad you got to meet your kids. I wish I could have done that when I was a kid. Would have made the 1st day wayyy less nerve-racking as a kid!

Oh my gosh, #10!! I remember you posting about the Cinnamon Chex the other day, but I love that you mentioned it again. IT IS SO GOOD. I CAN’T STOP!!!! Have you had the Apple Cinnamon flavor? I heard that was really good too. I’m going to buy it this weekend. I’ll keep you posted. Have a great weekend my dear!

aww little boy football is so cute! My cousin used to do that (now he’s 17 haha). I completely agree with you on the cinnamon chex haha I had to hide my box ;)

No. 5: literally had me on the ground laughing. Our Koda Bear does the same thing. And when I talk to him in my excited voice, he reaches new levels of psyhco.
No. 8: sounds blissful
No. 9: Genius! Y’all are too cute.

I love #5. Our dogs do the same thing. It’s hilarious! I was laughing so hard at #9… Not only because it’s funny, but because that is totally Cody and me too. Ohhh my.

Kelly @ The Raddish August 17, 2012 at 10:14 am

I know EXACTLY what it’s like to have a super energetic PSYCHO dog that takes me out for a run everyday! Not only is my female boxador (half boxer, half lab) Maya gorgeous, she has the best traits from each breed. She is incredibly light on her feet and can run for hours. The best running partner I’ve ever had!

Congrats on the feature! I am dog-less, but my kitties are always excited when they hear the garage door. Leia sits and stares up at the window, and if you take too long getting into the house from the time she hears the garage door she starts crying for you. Too cute!

My dog is 3 and I keep waiting for him to calm down (he’s a beagle mix). So far it hasn’t happened!

Last time I finished a box of cereal in less than four days, it was FiberOne. My tummy was very upset with that decision.

That time I finished a box of PB Cheerios in two sittings, though? My tastebuds drowned out my tummy’s protests. #worthit ;)
