fun facts friday

January 4, 2013

1. I was an overachiever yesterday and headed into work for a few hours to make sure I had everything all set for Monday. While I was there, the building was empty – no other teachers, no custodian. No one. I left my classroom to go to the bathroom and shut the door behind me. When I went back to my room, the door was locked. With all of my stuff in it. Car keys, cell phone, jacket, purse – the works. I immediately started to freak out, mainly because I was supposed to meet Kathleen in an hour for brunch with no way to reach her. I went and checked if any other rooms were open so I could find a phone – no dice. I was seriously leaving the building to walk to my co-worker’s house (she lives about 4 blocks away) when the custodian just happened to pull into the parking lot on his way to a meeting at another school. He freaking saved my life. I then learned that my teammate did the exact same thing yesterday and laughed my butt off. Note to self – always make sure the door is unlocked before shutting it.

2. Best post I’ve read in quite some time.

3. My favorite breakfast is from Prasino. Yesterday, this was accompanied by gluten free pancakes which I demolished. So, so good. What was even sweeter was getting to snuggle with Kathleen’s new little man. Precious.

4. Can we like get the snow on the road over here in Chicago? Seriously. This barren desert over here is making me angry! It’s 20 degrees – there should be snow on the ground!!

5. I don’t think you can handle this. Bahaha – I love her.

6. Aubrey is now afraid of shadows. This kind of makes me giggle. Okay, it makes me laugh – a lot. Hilarious (for me, not for nana or mama at nap/bed time!).

7. A few weeks ago, I was sent a sample of Vigilant Eats breakfast on the go. It’s “Superfood Cereal” and oh so convenient! I thought for sure I wasn’t going to like it because you add cold water and don’t eat it warm. WRONG! I loved it! It had a great texture and tons of great nutrients. I’m a fan! You can order them here.

Seriously, it was just by chance he pulled into the parking lot. I actually scared the crap out of him because I came running out of the building screaming at him. hahaha!!!

That breakfast looks sooo perfect…especially the potatoes. I love breakfast potatoes and hashbrowns!!

I totally understand where you are coming from on the snow thing. I love snow, but I hate cold. So if it is going to be SO stinkin’ cold all of the time then we better have some snow!

You can take some of our snow here in Pittsburgh. It’s completely plied up and just won’t seem to melt…

That text is too funny! And good thing the janitor came by - I had a similar situation in university where the common room got locked with my laptop, keys and shoes in it. Of course, this was during a fire alarm. In winter. That was not an enjoyable 15 minutes…

Do you feel safe when you’re at school alone? I live next to a school, and I’m scared to take my kid to the playground if there aren’t other families there. I always feel so vulnerable, like I could be attacked at any moment. Tell me your secret for feeling safe and confident in a building by yourself!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey January 6, 2013 at 9:25 pm

Sure I do! Even though I’m the only one there, the building is still locked and you have to have a key to access the building. It’s right in the middle of a neighborhood - I feel very safe in my school! :)

Tessa @ Amazing Asset January 4, 2013 at 9:27 am

Hahah that conversation is too hilarious! Glad the whole debacle with the keys and being locked and such worked out! And had some humor in there too :) Enjoy the weekend Chelsey!

Michelle @ Eat Move Balance January 4, 2013 at 9:37 am

Kudos to being so ambitious to go into work! I’m trying not to say the word “work” for a few days longer. Unfortunately, the pile of papers that need to be graded before Monday aren’t going to happen on their own. Bummer.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey January 6, 2013 at 9:26 pm

Yeeeah, I definitely haven’t graded anything. Thankfully we only send home papers on Fridays! ;)

Oh the countless occasions that I’ve locked myself out of my own house. I may or may not have ended up having to climb in through windows. Happy Friday!

Enjoy your final days of vacation.
I saw dump-trucks being filled with overflow snow last night (removed from parking lots, destination unknown) - maybe they’re headed your way :)

Hmm looks like some good cereal with great ingredients. Lots of carbs though. Good pre workout or run

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey January 6, 2013 at 9:28 pm

There are a fair amount of carbs in them, but it’s less than 20% of what your daily value should be. Even if you’re eating three full meals and snacks every day, I’d say it’s still a good choice!

Amber K January 4, 2013 at 7:02 pm

I hate being locked out. I have locked my keys in my car about three times and each time I felt like a total moron. Although I have thankfully (knock on wood) never locked myself out of anywhere else!

Maria@healthydiaries January 4, 2013 at 9:18 pm

I know where I’ll be eating next time I head downtown! I have never heard of Prasino, but one look at their menu and I know I’ll love it! So excited to see they have a second location in the city :)
