fun facts friday

February 1, 2013

1. You know what feels great? Unsubscribing to all the crap that comes to your inbox every day. Although, I might feel like a loser when I don’t get any emails anymore. Oh, and did you know that most places send you a confirmation email to tell you that you don’t want their emails anymore? Isn’t that like an oxymoron or something?

2. Really Downton Abbey!?!! Really? If you haven’t watched this week’s episode yet, I’m not going to spoil anything. However, I have been in mourning all stinking week. That was the worst thing they could have possibly done to us.

3. Chicago weather is seriously bipolar. On Tuesday it was about 65 degrees outside. Yesterday (and today) the temperature was hovering around 10 with windchills below zero. Ummmm, can we pick a season please? Preferably one that either has about ten feet of snow OR beach weather? I am not okay with this bitterly cold barren ground weather were having.

4. You’ve still got a few days to enter my KIND giveaway! Get in on that – there are a lot of entries already!

5. Have you ever had Trader Joe’s Creamy Tomato Soup? Ohhhhhh my gosh. Seriously, I will never attempt to make tomato soup ever again. First of all, mine never turns out that good. Second of all, TJ’s takes the cake. It is soooo good. I got the low sodium kind (to combat my overindulgence in salt lately), and it didn’t even need any more. I’m dreaming about that soup. I might actually eat some more for breakfast today.

6. Tomorrow is brunch with Kathleen and Lauren again!!! I am so excited to hang out with my favorites again.

7. Okay, so you all know I’m now obsessed with How I Met Your Mother. I’m on season five on Netflix (don’t judge my fast watching), and I’m starting to get annoyed. DOES HE EVER MEET THEIR MOTHER?!?!? Like seriously. Let’s get the show on the road. I love it, and I think it’s hilarious. BUT, and this is a big but, I’m not a fan of how they keep saying “oh your mother was in that class” or “ooooh your mother was at that party” and then HE NEVER ACTUALLY MEETS HER. Gaaah!

8. I get out at 1:30 today. WOOHOOO!

9. Chobani spoon – a SPOON just for CHO!

10. So, the Husband has this thing about needing to chew his soup, so he puts a lot of crackers in it. Me, I’m a slurper. Anyway, the thing about the crackers is that if we don’t have any when soup is on the menu, it’s a bad night over here. I asked the Husband last night if we had any crackers for him and he responded no. Soooo, since I’m an awesome wife (just trying to build myself up here people) I forged through the –139823982 temperatures to the store. When I came home, I found crackers in our pantry. I would get mad at him, but I decided I’m just stupid for not checking before I left. ::sigh::

11. It’s the weekend – Happy Friday!

ps – it’s FEBRUARY?!!?

Don’t want to spoil HIMYM for you but we’ve been watching since Season 1 and are starting to get kind of impatient…

Omg if they never reveal who the mother is, I’m going to lose it. There will be riots. They have to. I just unsubscribed to all my crap, too; awesome!

if you think you are annoyed now…there are 3 more seasons and they just renewed for a 9th. we are not meeting their mother anytime soon

CBS just renewed HIMYM for a 9th and final season, and all the reports are saying that the mother… hasn’t even been cast yet! So don’t hold your breath :p

“I forged through the –139823982 temperatures” HAHAHA! That made me laugh! If the soup is one of my favorites, I don’t need any crackers. Tomato soup is the only soup I really like crackers in i think. I’m so happy its Friday! Getting closer to March..which means Spring!
Over where I am, it was 70 degrees for two days. Then we had horrible stormy weather, and now its back in the 30′s with the high of 50 degrees. Make up your mind!!! But it will probably do it again. Sadly.

Jennifer February 1, 2013 at 6:51 am

74 degrees in Kansas on Monday, 3″inches of snow Tuesday night!!!! The old saying is, “if you don’t like the weather in Kansas, wait 5 minutes and it will change”!!!!! Must be the same for Chicago!!!! =0)

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey February 1, 2013 at 7:52 pm

It is most definitely like that in Chicago!

Isn’t it crazy that it is already February?? Although, we are having the same bipolar weather issues here in Omaha and I am TIRED of it, so I kind of wish it was more like…oh, May or June ;) . The warm weather will be here before we know it, and then we’ll be complaining about how hot we are!

Thanks for the heads up on TJ”s tomato soup. I always crave something to go along with one of my favorite sandwiches, grilled cheese, and that would definitely be perfect.

Lucky you getting out of work at 1:30. That should be a great start to your weekend! Happy Friday :)

Reply

Beks February 1, 2013 at 10:53 am

I’m in Omaha, too, and the heat went out in my car this morning. It was four degrees outside!!!

I am so over Winter. I will move to the tropics, and learn to deal with the humidity!

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey February 1, 2013 at 7:52 pm

EEEW to 4 degrees and no heat! I hope you get it fixed soon!

Reply

Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl February 2, 2013 at 3:43 pm

That sounds miserable! The past couple of days of frigid temperatures combined with the insane wind has definitely been awful! :(

My husband is a TOTAL soup cruncher! He cannot eat it unless there are some “crunchies” in it! Maybe it’s a guy thing? I haven’t seen HIMYM but I heard that they still haven’t revealed the mother. Don’t ask me how I know that because I just said I’ve never seen the show! :P

Reply

The weather is also bipolar in NY! Yesterday morning started off with huge winds, 60 degrees, and pouring rain. By 5pm, it was sunny and freezing at 30 degrees. Needless to say, I was not dressed right for the cold haha.

Reply

christina February 1, 2013 at 7:34 am

Woah woah sister hold on. Have you had the Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato Soup from TJ’s? Like seriously, get yourself to the store and get it NOW. I can’t stop eating it. And yes, I daydream about it too.

Reply

I agree with you about the weather… There needs to be a bunch of snow OR beach weather - none of that nasty stuff. We had that for about three weeks straight. It was terrible! And yes, TJ’s creamy tomato soup is amaaaaazing!

Reply

Jana @ Happy Wife Healthy Life February 1, 2013 at 7:51 am

So I’m going to guess that HIMYM is going to be like Home Improvement (I maybe dating myself) and them showing Wilson’s face (the neighbor face)- it will only be at the very last episode and then it’s over. I would love if the story line goes to their wedding, but I don’t think it will happen.

Reply

cleaneatingchelsey February 1, 2013 at 8:00 pm

hahah WILSON! I loved him.

I’m a huge fan of HIMYM and I’m on the latest season (8) and nope, still haven’t met the mother yet. I don’t think we will until the last episode. BUT Neil Patrick Harris was on The Talk this week and said they’re coming back for a 9th and final season so the end is in sight! But then again I’ll probably be in mourning when that day comes ;)

A few things…
1. I am beyond excited to see your pretty face tomorrow.
2. I have been craving tomato soup all week - TJ’s, I’m coming for you!
3. Mara and I were just talking about HIMYM last night. Apparently they just signed on for 2 more seasons so it looks like we won’t be finding out for another 5 years!(or so it seems)
4. On Tuesday, I got to wear my brand new open toe wedges and yesterday, I put on just about every piece of clothing I owned. WTF Chicago?

Jill February 1, 2013 at 9:44 am

Chelsey, I LOVE your blog and am usually just a lurker, but had to comment. If you love the TJ’s Tomato Soup try their Organic Tomato & Roasted Red Pepper Soup. This soup is to die for! My husband is not a tomato fan and even loves this soup. We just had it last night. I usually throw in a can of black beans for protein (and, like your husband, my husband NEEDS crackers or bread with soup so last night I served his with some left over naan bread on the side).

I also live in Chicago and was crying this morning with how cold it was :( I HATE the cold weather unless there is snow (and I don’t have to drive in it like last Friday!)

Hope you have a GREAT weekend!

Reply

I feel like HIMYM will be much more awesome when rewatching after finding out who the mother is. I still enjoy the show, but I wish I had discovered it when it was already over so I could just keep watching and enjoying and knowing the end was near. (and that I could Google the answer if I was really curious). But sadly, I will just have to keep waiting.

And I hate soup because I need things to crunch and chew! I don’t like soggy crackers though, so I will just continue on with my soup hatred ;)

I totally feel the same about How I Met Your Mother! I love it, and it’s so funny but it’s driving me nuts too! I heard that they just signed for the last season and we WILL meet the mother!! Although, somehow I don’t think I’ll believe it til I see it!

We’ve been having crazy inconsistent weather here, too. But I’m really hoping it starts warming up for good soon … I am such a baby when it comes to cold weather! I could never live in Chicago, regardless of how awesome a city it is! ;)

Reply

Kaci February 2, 2013 at 9:05 am

Georgia weather is the exact same! We can have 70 degrees one day, and then 21 the next. I’ll juuuust have gotten it into my mind that it’s okay for me to put on flip flops for the first time in forever, and then I’ll get into the routine of doing it, and then BAM! Below freezing. Plus, when we get even the threat of snow, schools shut down and it’s all anyone can talk about (because we don’t have a lot of snow plows, since we only need them once every few years or so). One time, two years ago, we actually had a white Christmas! That was super sweet.

My husband is similar when it comes to chili. He loves to have Fritos with his chili and if we don’t have them, he gets a little butt hurt. However, he won’t touch the chips any other time! Unsubscribing feels so good! Speaking of, I need to do that soon!
