highly recycled

April 17, 2013

I swear, all of this rain in Chicago is starting to affect our brains around here! From tonight until Friday, we’re supposed to get almost five inches of rain. I do like rain in the spring time (everything is now GREEN!!!), but not to this extent. It can go away now.

All of these pictures today are recycled. Somehow my brain (affected by the rain) made me forget all about my pictures. However, seeing as though I eat the same things all the time, I’m lucky to have some pictures already. ;)

Breakfast 6:00 AM

January 1, 2013 010
Okay, breakfast didn’t include banana bread, but now that I see this picture…. I totally need to make some more. I always forget how good it is! Breakfast was similar though – two eggs, two pieces of peanut butter toast, and an orange.

Snack 9:00 AM

February 21, 2012 003
Note to self: Yogurt is really hard to eat while you’re trying to write out a graphic organizer on the document projector for the kids. I should have eaten it before talking about the Southern Colonies!

:fun fact: I love teaching Social Studies – like LOVE it. Plus, fifth grade Social Studies is the best. It is American History, so I get to teach fun things like the 13 Colonies and the American Revolution. AWESOME. #dork

Lunch 11:30

We typically don’t go out to for lunch on Wednesdays, but it was a co-worker’s birthday. To celebrate, a group of us headed to Chipotle for some much needed talking. Okay, who am I kidding – all we ever do is gab!

I got a veggie salad with loads of guacamole. Can’t go wrong!

Afternoon Snack 3:30 PM

After an afternoon full of meetings (I hate being pulled out of the classroom for meetings!), I had to get to an appointment for my bi-weekly prenatal massage. I ate a granola bar on the way, but there was no way I was photographing it because it was monsooning outside.

You might think I’m crazy for going in for massages every two weeks at this point, but it really does keep me feeling loose and keeps my aches and pains away.

Dinner 6:30 PM

By the time I got home from my massage, it was already almost six, and my poor sick husband was hungry. I quickly threw together dinner for the two of us. He ate chicken sandwiches and roasted potatoes while I had a BLT and roasted potatoes.

April 14, 2013 003

The Husband is sure that I’ll still like some meat after my pregnancy is over, but I am just about certain that will NOT be the case. Before I was pregnant, I couldn’t even stand the smell of meat cooking! It’s so so weird.

Tonight I’m sure I’ll be eating a snack before bed – most likely cereal. For now, I’m going to go snuggle up in bed and read on this rainy night. I also want to give the Husband some peace and quiet out in the living room to rest. The poor man won’t come and sleep in our bed because he doesn’t want to get me sick and knows I wouldn’t sleep well on the couch all night. Talk about a keeper, right?

Question: What has the weather been like near you?

You’ve got a winner for a hubby! And it’s so strange to me what pregnancy does to your food preferences and cravings…I wonder what I am going to like eating that I hate now. Hopefully I don’t just want ice cream all the time :) Also, I am going to do my student teaching in a 5th grade classroom in the fall and didn’t know that’s the grade you taught!

Lindsay @ HealthForagers April 18, 2013 at 6:36 am

Don’t worry wanting to eat ice cream all the time isn’t too bad. I used to eat a gallon a week of ice cream and drink a gallon of milk during my pregnancy and I gained a normal amount, still worked out, have lost all the weight and then some less than a year later and I got to eat some AMAZING ice cream during it. Haha not at all bad, not at all bad :)

The weather here has been pretty crappy so far — some snowfall even up til last week. Today was the first reasonably warm day — hooray for sunshine!!

Pouring rain all day. Plus Thunder this morning, and more thunder this evening. Doesn’t help that I’m sick. I just want sunshine.

Lucky you, having Chipotle for lunch! It’s been really sunny and warm in Texas, but tonight there’s supposed to be a cold front coming through bringing rain and much cooler temps. Hopefully, it gets warm {but not too warm} again quick!

Oh my gosh, I hope it will stop raining way before Friday. I have been stuck in NYC airport trying to get back to Chicago and our flights keep getting cancelled, we’ve been here since noon and have to wait till tomorrow now. Hoping it won’t be so bad tomorrow :(

Loving your breakfast and I haven’t tried that Cho flavor before. I like them all though. Hah, I used to never like Social Studies in jr high, but that was 8th grade (When I moved to the States) we had History in Poland and geography and all that stuff which I wasn’t a huge fan of either. Thankfully my thoughts about the subjects has changed since and now I find it very interesting :) I bet your students love you! I think enthusiasm can always be easily detected and even contagious :)

:) Thanks. Yesterday during a grammar lesson I got on a pedestal about the difference between “you’re” and “your” and not using contractions in formal writing. I think they think I’m crazy.

Hahaha girl, I would have done the same thing. I am such a grammar nazi! Especially when it comes to such simple errors.

The weather here is totally waked. I mean last year this time it snowed but this year it has been alternating between some really gorgeous days to some really storming days! Weird. But hey at least we are getting some sun right ;) Plus it means that smoothie weather is right around the corner. Is it just me or do they taste the best when you drink them in HOT weather?

Ahh I hate to brag but the weather has been quite nice out here in Southern California. Today was sunny with a little breeze. Lol sorry it’s raining so much out there…I have lots of family in that area so I know they’re suffering right along with you. Hopefully it will dry up soon!

You should TOTALLY go on “Are You Smarther Than a Fifth Grader.” I’ve always said, and I firmly believe, that no one would do better than a fifth grade teacher on that show. :)

Kaitlyn April 18, 2013 at 5:06 am

and by “smarther” I meant “Smarter”…whoops :)

cleaneatingchelsey April 18, 2013 at 6:16 am

LOL - I feel like we play that all day long. When the kids do something they think is “sneaky” and they get caught, we always say “Do you think we’re not smarter than a fifth grader?” ;) They always laugh at that.

I dont know how I’ve missed that you’ve been eating meat since preggo! I read your blog a lot! But I’ve always wondered if I will want to eat meat again when I get pregnant…Hm. I definitely will consider it if I ever feel like I need the extra protein and iron!

We still have quite a bit of snow on the ground - I’d take rain (even if there’s lots of it) over snow any day.

The weather here is typical Tennessee weather, sunny and 92 degrees with a chance of thunderstorms, and a high of 50 tomorrow >.<

Ugh, I’m in Chicago too…I’ve been ready for the rain to go away for what feels like WEEKS!!! Definitely enjoyed the thunder & lightening last night, but this morning & seeing the chaos the rain is causing…I’m SO over it. I just keep on telling myself “Summer in Chicago, there’s nothing better…it’s worth it, it’s worth it…” buuuut that mantra is starting to lose its oomf with this weather!! :-P

Upper 80′s in FL.

PS- My cousin was a vegan…a die hard vegan… (okay I wil admit she was one of those obnoxious vegans) and during her pregnancy she wanted meat (now she says she NEEDED it) and so she started eating it like… on the sly. LOL. She got over it though and just ate what her body told her… now after both pregnancies she is still vegan out of choice (but thank GOODNESS less in your face about it) but will admit she craves meat but in a less physical way and more in a “I know that tastes good way.”

I love your bi-weekly pregnancy massage routine! Such a great idea, especially if it keeps you relaxed and your muscles feeling well. Plus, you’re growing two humans inside of you - you deserve a massage!! P.S. I’m totally keeping this massage idea in the books for when the hubs and I decide to have kids… If I’m growing his baby, he can get me massages ;)

So funny that you’ve been craving meat while pregnant. My Mom was a vegetarian for 18 years and when she was pregnant she started craving meat like crazy, and now she still eats it, so I guess you never know!
The weather has been all over the place here - hail, rain, sun. Can’t complain too much since we didn’t get a drop of snow all Winter.

It’s rainy and yucky here too! I so don’t think your a dork for loving social studis. I was almost a history teacher. I find it all so interesting and I would love thinking up creative ways to teach the information (although I know teaching can be exhausting so major kudos to you)!
